  • Abrasive jet machining (AJM) has a large number of parameters such as powder flow rate, air pressure, diameter of abrasive, stand off distance, material hardness and fracture toughness, etc. It is not easy matter to control those parameter. To achieve high accurate machining, in this study, Taguchi method was used to select process parameters. The objective of the optimization was to get higher material removal rate (MRR). From the experiments and analysis, some process parameters were found to make efficient machining.

  • Micro-Channel ultra-precision polishing is a new technology used in magnetic field-assisted relishing. In this paper, an electromagnet or the i18 of test system was designed and manufactured. A size of magnetic abrasive is used on 25~75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and for the polish a micro-channel upper part. A surface of channel which is not even is manufactured using magnetic abrasive finishing at upper surface of micro-channel. As a result, the surface roughness rose by 80% after upper surface of micro- channel was polished up 8 minutes by polishing.

  • This paper describes a new surface finishing process which uses magnetic abrasive polishing. This is applied to automatic finishing of die & mold surface. Nowadays, most of die & mold meanufaturing procedures have been automated by the introduction of NC machine tool and CAD/CAM system. But the surface finishing of die & mold must be done by hand work of well-skilled workers. Though many attempts were tried in the past 15 years to eliminate this hand work, the automatic finishing of die & mold surface with 3D curvature has not been achieved yet. New magnetic abrasive finishing process is thought as one of the possible methods for the automation of 3D surface finishing. In order to improve the grindability of the method, ultra-high speed and 5-axis machining was introduce. The magnetic abrasive polishing which has adopted these methods was confirmend to improve the efficiencyof die & mold surface finishing.

  • New polishing technique for small parts has been tried out using the principle of particle electromechanics. Common fine abrasives such as alumina, diamond, silicon carbide are dielectric materials which are polarized under an electric field, and a non-uniform electric field makes abrasive particles translate along the field line. Using this principle, We make abrasive particles aggregate in the vicinity of the micro tool which is fir the surface finishing of a small part without contact with it. The behavior of particles is optically measured, and the machined depth of glass is examined.

  • Abrasive waterjet(AWJ)은 가공시 열에 의한 가공경화가 없기 때문에 유리, 세라믹, 타이타늄및 금속복합재료와 같은 난삭재의 가공기술로 사용이 증가되었다. Acoustic emission(AE)신호에 의한 AWJ 세라믹 drilling가공시 On-Line Monitoring의 가능성이 고찰되었다. 기계 적인 물성이 서로 상이한 3종류의 세라믹이 본 연구에서 사용되었으며, AE신호는 AWJ drilling의 깊이를 monitoring하는데 유용함을 알 수 있었고 또한 세라믹의 material removal mechanisms을 규명하였다.

  • The magnetic polishing is the useful method to finish using magnetic power of magnet. This method is one of precision polishing techniques and has an aim of the clean. technology using for the pure of gas and inside of the sanitary pipe for transportation. The magnetic abrasive polishing method is not so common for machine that it is not spreaded widely. There are rarely researcher in this field because of non-effectiveness of magnetic abrasive. In this paper. We could have investigated into the changes of the movement of magnetic abrasive grain. In reference to this result, we could have made the experiment which is set under the condition of the magnetic flux density, polishing velocity according to the form of magnetic brush.

  • Recently, as the demand for high-precision parts increases due to industrial development, a machine tool system for ultra-precision machining and polishing has been actively developed. As a result, there is an increasing demand for ultra-precision surface roughness along with dimensional processing. However, due to the increase in processing time due to the demand for ultra-precise surfaces and enormous facility investment, it is difficult to secure competitiveness. The polishing process using the abrasive film in super precision machining has been applied to machines, electronic devices, aerospace, and medical fields. Super finishing using the abrasive film which is applied in the industrial field recently can achieve high surface roughness in a short time. Also, application of industrial field is increasing due to advantages such as low noise and low dust. Recently, researches on stainless steel having strong resistance to corrosion, heat resistance, heat resistance, toughness and weldability have been actively conducted with respect to the nuclear energy industry or marine development. Therefore, in this study, surface roughness and residual stress were measured after SUS304 polishing using dynamic analysis of film polishing apparatus and polishing film.

  • Among the non-traditional machining methods, Abrasive waterjet machining process shows big promise in drilling difficult-to-machine materials due to its numerous advantages such as absence of heat affect zone and thermal distortion. Acoustic emission signal technique is used to understand about material removal mechanisms during abrasive waterjet drilling process. More information about the drilling process is derived through frequency decomposition of auto regressive moving average modeling representing acoustic emission signals.

산화망간이 첨가된 혼합 연마제 실리카 슬러리의 산화막 CMP 특성 (Chemical Mechanical Polishing Characteristics of Mixed Abrasive Silica Slurry (MAS) by adding of Manganese oxide (MnO2) Abrasive)

  • 논문에서는 1:10으로 희석된 실리카 슬러리에 산화망간(MnO2) 연마제를 첨가하여 재처리된 혼합연마제 슬러리(Mixed Abrasive Slurry; MAS)의 화학기계적연마(CMP) 특성을 연구하였다. 최적의 연마 성능을 갖는 슬러리를 설계하기 위해서는 높은 연마율, 하부층에 대한 적절한 연마선택비, 연마 후의 낮은 표면결함, 슬러리의 안정성 등을 얻어야 한다. 산화망간이 첨가된 MAS의 연마 성능은 연마율 및 비균일도와 같은 CMP 성능, 입도 분석, 표면 형상에 대해 평가하였다. 실험결과, 높은 연마율과 낮은 비균일도 측면에서 볼 때 원액 실리카 슬러리와 대등한 슬러리 특성을 얻을 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안하는 MnO2-MAS를 사용하면 고가의 소모재인 슬러리를 절약하는데 매우 유용할 것이다.

2 세대 자기연마를 이용한 미세 그루브형상 표면가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Polishing of Grooved Surface by the Second-Generation Magnetic Abrasive Polishing)

  • 자기연마공정은 유동성이 높은 연마입자를 활용하기 때문에 곡면 및 그루브 형상에도 적용이 가능한 장점을 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 제 2세대 자기연마법을 활용하여 그루브 형상에 대한 자기연마가공 특성을 평가하여, 이를 향후 연료전지 채널과 같은 3차원 형상의 자기연마에 활용하고자 한다. 실험은 최대 1.5mm 깊이의 그루브에 대해 자기연마가공 후 슬롯부 및 랜드부의 표면거칠기 변화를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 랜드부의 길이가 증가하고 그루브의 깊이가 깊어질수록 랜드부의 표면거칠기 향상정도는 높아졌다. 또한 슬롯부의 표면거칠기 향상정도는 랜드부와 슬롯부의 길이비가 증가하고 그루브의 깊이가 깊어질수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 마지막으로 자기연마가공을 통해서 그루브의 형상에는 큰 변화없이, 그루브의 모서리에 생성된 버를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있었다.
