Many companies are struggling with the issue of performance measurement because a generally accepted framework does not exist. The Balanced Scorecard is designed to help firms that have historically overemphasized short-term financial performance. In this article, we discuss the interrelation between supply relationship and BSC. The Balanced Scorecard to measure quality performance with respect to supply relationship is suggested. Based on the survey of 84 venture firms, the validity of the measurement tool is tested statistically. Consequently, it was found that the suggested items have validity to measure supply relationship quality performance
As a quality of dyadic relationships in the family, individuation refers to the interplay between the connectedness and separateness of family members. The aims of this study were: 1) to develop of the newly measure of Korean late adolescent's individuation; 2) to examine the reliability and validity of the newly developed measure. 435(165 male, 270 female) college students completed the Korean Late Adolescent Individuation Questionnare(KLAIQ), and Korean version of the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire(SACQ), and Korean version of the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire(SACQ). Using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis three subdimensions of individuation were identified: Connectedness(7items), Self-confidence(5 items), and Parent control(4 items). A total 16 items of the KLAIQ were found to have acceptable reliability and face and construct validity. A total 16 items of the KLAIQ were found to have acceptable reliability and face and construct validity. Scale scores from the KLAIQ correlated in the predicted pattern with the SACQ. Individuated students demonstrated the highest college adjustment scores while ambiguous students yielded the lowest. Therefore, it would appear that the KLAIQ can adequately measure individuation in Korean late adolescence.
Objective : This study was conducted to examine the reliability and validity of the Measure of Constructs Underlying Perfectionism-Korean version (M-CUP-K). Methods : Two hundred and six normal subjects completed a battery of measures including M-CUP-K, Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale-Korean version (FMPS-K), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Psychometric properties of the M-CUP-K were analyzed. Results : The principal component analysis for construct validity resulted in 56 items composed of 6 factors (factor 1 : Dissatisfaction-Reactivity to Mistakes; factor 2 : Order-Details and Checking ; factor 3 : Satisfaction ; factor 4 : High standards ; factor 5 : Perceived Pressure from Others-Perfectionism toward Others ; factor 6 : Black and White Thinking about Tasks and Activities), compared to the original version. The M-CUP-K total and subscale scores were more strongly correlated with those of the other perfectionism-specific measure, FMPS-K, with a correlation of 0.822 (convergent validity) than with those of the nonspecific depression measure (discriminant validity). The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value for internal consistency of M-CUP-K was in an excellent range (r=0.872-0.935). The test-retest reliability for external validity suggested a good temporal stability with a total score correlation of 0.827. Conclusion : This study revealed that the M-CUP-K has good reliability and validity. Therefore, the M-CUP-K can be used as a promising measure of perfectionism in Korea.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a Korean questionnaire to measure resilience in children with chronic illness. Methods: Item construction was drawn from an extensive review of the literature, existing questionnaires and interviews with parents. Content validity was tested by experts. To further refine the questionnaire and test its reliability and validity, data were collected from the 202 children with asthma, diabetes mellitus or nephrotic syndrome. Corrected items were used to total correlation coefficient and test-retest reliability. Questionnaire testing was conducted using factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$, and correlation coefficients. Validity of the questionnaire was tested using internal consistency, construct validity, and criterion-related validity. Results: Components of the questionnaire were in three domains; interpersonal characteristics, characteristics of coping, and intrapersonal characteristics. Factor analysis is showed five factors; positive self-understanding, self-reliance, resourcefulness, perception of positive family relationships, and intimacy. The questionnaire showed a high internal consistency. A significant positive correlation with the Numerical Rating Score and negative correlation with the Child Depression Inventory support the validity of the questionnaire. Conclusion: This instrument demonstrated high reliability and validity. Therefore, this instrument can contribute to the evaluation of resilience of chronically ill children and to any subsequent intervention as well as to develop a theory for resilience.
Over the past decade, mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, especially two dimensional gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCxGC/TOF-MS), has become a key analytical tool for metabolomics data because of its sensitivity and ability to analyze complex biological or biochemical sample. However, the need to reduce variations within/between experiments has been reported and methodological developments to overcome such problem has long been a critical issue. Along with methodological developments, developing reasonable performance measure has also been studied. Following four numerical measures have been typically used for comparison: sensitivity, specificity, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and positive predictive value (PPV). However, more recently, such measures are replaced with F1 score in many fields including metabolomics area without any carefulness of its validity. Thus, we want to investigate the validity of F1 score on two examples, with the goal of raising the awareness in choosing appropriate performance comparison measure. We noticed that F1 score itself, as a performance measure, was not good enough. Accordingly, we suggest that F1 score be supplemented with other performance measure such as specificity to improve its validity.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the intra-rater and inter-rater reliability and validity of pelvic tilting angle measurements using a smart phone-based inclinometer (Clino) compared to a palpation meter (PALM) in the standing and sitting position. This study used an interchangeable method with Clino to measure the pelvic tilting angle in the standing and sitting positions. Methods: Twenty healthy subjects were recruited. Measurements of the pelvic tilting angle in the standing and sitting positions were obtained by two examiners using the Clino and PALM. A resting session was conducted 10 minutes later to assess the intra and inter rater reliability. To assess validity of the measurement using Clino, a PALM was used as the gold standard. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to determine the intra and inter rater reliability of Clino and a PALM. To assess the validity, the Pearson correlation coefficients were used for two measurement techniques to measure the pelvic tilting angle in the standing and sitting positions. The statistical significance was set to ${\alpha}=0.05$. Results: Measurements of the pelvic tilt had high inter-rater reliability in the standing (ICC=0.82) and sitting (ICC=0.88) positions using Clino and intra-rater reliability in the standing (ICC=0.87) and sitting (ICC=0.91) positions using Clino. Measurements of the pelvic tilt had high validity by a comparison of PALM and Clino in the standing (r=0.83) and sitting (r=0.89) positions (p<0.05). Conclusion: The use of Clino can be recommended as a tool to replace the PALM and measure the pelvic tilt angle in the standing and sitting positions while maintaining the clinical reliability and validity.
Purpose: This paper was conducted to validate the Korean version of the Peer Group Caring Interaction Scale (PGCIS-K) that measures caring behaviors as experienced by nursing students. Methods: Translation of the PGCIS-K was validated through forward-backward translation methods. Survey data were collected from 218 nursing students in a nursing school. Construct validity and criterion-related validity were evaluated. Internal consistency and the Guttman split-half coefficient were calculated to assess reliability. Results: The PGIS-K showed reliability except for 4 items (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.91$, Guttman split-half coefficient=.85), which were low (<.30) or negatively correlated with the total scale. A 12-item reduced form of the PGCIS-K was developed by item-analysis and construct validity evidence. Factor loading for the 12 items on 2 factors ranged from .47~.82, which explained 58.4% of the total variance. Two factors were named 'modeling and assistance (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.87$)' and 'communication and sharing (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.82$)'. Convergent validity, discriminant validity, and criterion validity were supported according to the correlation coefficients of the 2 factors with other measure. Conclusion: The findings suggest preliminary evidence that the 12-item PGCIS-K can be used to measure nursing students' peer group caring interactions in Korea. Additional studies are recommended to continue the psychometric evaluation of this scale. Also, it can be extended to measure graduate nursing students or staff nurses' peer group caring interaction.

This paper examines the validity of the newly developed IT consulting SERVQUAL measurement tool. In an attempt to measure Ire IS customers' expectations and perceived quality of the services they received, the researchers developed a diagnostic tool of SERVQUAL based on the solid theoretical background, which can specifically be applied to the IT consulting service sector. This on-going research so far, has been applied to six (6) different organizations that have received IT consulting services over the past years. From the preliminary data collected, the correlation and the factor analyses were conducted to understand the underlying concept and refinement of the measurement tool. Although the correlation analysis showed a little tendency of collinearity among some of the variables, all showed sound relationship of the proposed hypotheses. The exploratory factor analytic approach was chosen because it does not set any priori constraints on the estimation of components or the number of components to be extracted. The number of different factor solutions was extracted and tested to see which solution represents better grouping of the variables. The Crombach's Alpha was computed on different combinations of the factor solutions to ensure validity. The results show 8-dimensional IT consulting SERVQUAL measures which they are, assurance, knowledge & skill, customer relationship, support, empathy, process management, expertise, and education, seem more appropriate than the originally proposed 6 dimensions. The study approach was non-experimental cross-sectional research design. The longitudinal design of follow-up studies to periodically revise and refine current measure is strongly recommended for fine tuning of the tool.
Objective: The purpose of this research is to develop an intergenerational ambivalence scale which can measure the intergenerational relationship between middle-aged married couples and their mothers/mother-in-law. Method: The initial items were selected by reviewing the previous research and literature. To test validity and reliability, 222 middle-aged married couples who were residing in Seoul or the Gyeonggi area were selected. Results: The results of the research are as follows: 1) the scale was the total of 26 items consisting of two sub-factors of 14 positives and 12 negatives from the analysis of content validity, construct validity, and convergent validity, 2) the reliability of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ were from .90 to .94 which showed a high degree of internal consistency. Conclusions: The intergenerational ambivalence scale developed is expected to serve as a useful tool for those who study the intergenerational relationship and work on the ground to measure people's intergenerational dynamics.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate outcome measurement scales of nursing education such as communication, professionalism, leadership, and critical thinking. Methods: A methodological study design was used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scales. Survey was done to the students (n=407) enrolled in baccalaureate nursing schools. Using convenience sampling method, we tried to include all grades of students. Internal consistency, convergent validity and group comparison were used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scales. Results: All scales were reliable and valid. Only convergent validity of the scale to measure critical thinking was relatively low. It suggested that critical thinking skill and disposition might be measured separately. Also it was inefficient to measure the nursing education outcomes with separate scales. Conclusions: It is recommended to develop a new integrative scale to measure nursing education outcomes. Also it is necessary to set the norm of nursing students to evaluate nursing education outcomes for the quality control of nursing education.
