Newly designed vapor-injection heat pumps have been proposed and analyzed in the present study. An economizer-type vapor-injection (V-I) system has been employed as the standard system because of its reliability and simple control method. The V-I system has a re-cooler and re-heater for cooling and heating, respectively. Solar panels have been installed in the V-I heat pump as well as in the re-heater in order to enhance heating capacity and performance. R410A has been employed as a working fluid and performance analysis has been conducted under various conditions. Results are summarized as follows: (1) The V-I system with the re-cooler yielded a marginally higher coefficient of performance (COP) than the conventional V-I refrigeration system. (2) By increasing the re-cooler cooling capacity, enhanced system performance as compared to the conventional V-I system was observed. (3) The re-heater negatively affected the system performance; hence, the V-I heat pump with the re-heater yielded a lower COP than that of the conventional V-I heat pump used for heating. (4) Although the solar panels increased the system performance, this increase could not offset performance degradation by the re-heater.
A safe work environment is crucial in high-risk industries, such as construction refurbishment. Safety incidents caused by uncertainty and unexpected events in construction refurbishment systems are difficult to control using conventional safety management techniques. Resilience engineering (RE) is proposed as an alternative to traditional safety management approaches. It presents a successful safety management methodology designed to deal with uncertainty in high-risk work environments. Despite the fact that RE resides in the safety domain, there is no common set of RE indicators to measure and assess resilient in the work environment. The main aim of this research is to explore RE indicators that have been identified as important in developing and assessing the resilient work environment in high-risk industries, particularly in construction refurbishment. Indicators have been attained through a systematic literature review of research and scholarly articles published between the years 2004 and 2019. The literature review explored RE indicators in various industries. Descriptive analysis and co-occurrence-based network visualization were used for data analysis. The findings revealed 28 RE indicators in 11 different high-risk industries. The results show that the four commonly used indicators were: top-management commitment, awareness, learning, and flexibility, all of which have a strong relationship with RE. The findings of this study are useful for stakeholders when making decisions concerning the most important RE indicators in the context of their research or practice as this would avoid the ambiguity and disparity in the identification of RE indicators.

The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal distances between pipes to minimize the pressure loss and turbulent intensity. This was accomplished by investigating the distances between sleeve-jointed pipes and the flow changes in pipes based on variations in the Reynolds (Re) number when installing adjusting pieces for the pipes. When the thickness tp of the sleeve-jointed piping was fixed at 5 mm and the pipe lengths Lp were 10, 50, 100, and 200 mm, the correlations with the velocity of the sleeve-jointed part, pressure distribution, length of the reattachment point in the recirculation area, and Re number were analyzed. The flow characteristic of the sleeve-jointed part from a laminar to a turbulent flow region was determined by setting the Re range to 200 ≤ Re ≤ 5,000. This was done by utilizing Ansys Fluent 18.1, which is a commercial program. The enlargement and contraction ratios of the sleeve-jointed part were 1.2 and 0.83, respectively, and the turbulent intensity of the sleeve downstream edge and pressure change both increased as the Re number increased while Lp remained constant. The fact that the flow on the sleeve wall surface was disturbed by tp resulted in losses in velocity energy. Therefore, the edge of the sleeve-jointed part was also effected. When Lp was 10 mm or less, the turbulent intensity of the edge part did not change significantly as the Re number increased. The reattachment point in the recirculation area did not appear at Lp of 10 mm or less and was not affected by the vortex. In the case of 3,000 ≤ Re, the reattachment length of the wall surface of the sleeve-jointed part was nearly constant as Lp increased.
This study has comparatively analyzed the primary success factors in smoking cessation among new enrollees and re-enrollees of a smoking cessation clinic in order to find out how to efficiently operate smoking cessation clinics at public health centers. The study was conducted with 262,837 smokers aged 19 or over who were provided with smoking cessation services for more than 6 months after being registered with the smoking cessation clinic at public health centers(250 clinics nationwide) from July 16, 2006 to July 15, 2007. After dividing smokers into re-enrollees and new enrollees of the smoking cessation clinic, the success rate of and success factors for smoking cessation over 6 months have been investigated. The success factors in smoking cessation have been compared between new enrollees and re-enrollees of smoking cessation clinics. The results can be summarized as follows: First, the success rate of smoking cessation for 6 months at smoking cessation clinics of public health centers was higher in new enrollees (46.3%) than in re-enrollees (41.1%). Second, the common factors that had an influence on the success of smoking cessation of both new enrollees and re-enrollees of the smoking cessation clinic included age, social security, service, frequency of counseling, number of cigarettes per day, and alcoholic problems. Third, compared to new enrollees, re-enrollees had a higher success rate of smoking cessation as they got older. In terms of the success rate of health insurance, on the contrary, new enrollees were better than re-enrollees. Fourth, the study showed a higher success rate in smoking cessation in both new and re-enrollees if they had no alcoholic problems. In particular, a higher success rate was observed in re-enrollees when there were no alcoholic problems. To efficiently operate smoking cessation clinics at public health centers, this study confirmed that counseling should be tailored depending on the types of enrollees in the program.

A high-rise building construction in Korea has some problems in engineering, construction and management technologies although the high-rise building construction is recently booming. In addition, the lack of skilled construction labors is increasing, so the development for methods is needed to reduce the labors by prefabrication and mechanization. A re-bar work is one of very important works with regard to cost and schedule management in the high-rise building construction. Nevertheless, the re-bar work has some problems that it is needed many re-bars for joints linking and much time for lifting due to high-rise buildings, and it is difficult to level the skill of labors. So, in this study, the pre-fabrication of three-story height in column re-bars is proposed and the results of an implementation are analyzed and explored by a case study. As the results of case study, the pre-fabrication of three-story heights in column re-bars could reduce the cost in the re-bar work and accelerate the time in the structural frame work. In addition, the pre-fabrication of three-story height in column re-bars could solve the problems such as the waste of many re-bars for joints linking, and the lack of the skilled labors.
The magneto-optical Kerr spectra(${\lambda}=250~700nm$) of amorphous RE-Co(RE=Ce, Nd, Pr, Gd, Tb, Er, Ho) are compared with those of Y-Co films. It has been found that the Kerr rotation of RE-Co is mainly due to Co in the long wavelength region, whereas at short wavelength Ce, Pr, Nd, and Gd contribute positively, and Tb, Ho, and Er contribute negatively to the Kerr rotation of RE-Co amorphous films. In the interesting energy region(1.5~5.0 eV), the magneto-optical contribution of Pr and Nd are thought to be related with $4f{\uparrow}->5d{\uparrow}$ interband transition, and the contribution of Ce and Gd might be concerned with d->p interband transition. The magneto-optical effect of Tb in the short wavelength region might be related with $4f{\downarrow}->5d{\downarrow}$ and/or $5d{\downarrow}->4f{\downarrow}$, and that of Ho and Er can be explained by $4f{\downarrow}->5d{\downarrow}$ magneto-optical interband transition.

High-rise building is taking a place as one of building types from apartment housings to commercial buildings. With taking in account of stability and durability, strength of used materials is increasing gradually in these high-rise buildings. According to this, frequency in use of SD500 re-bar is increasing gradually in high-rise buildings. However the study of SD500 re-bar is insufficient because SD500 re-bar started to be used for domestic buildings lately. Specially because there is no guide or study to refer to, people get into difficulties when to decide the method of re-bar connection in construction using SD500 re-bar. Accordingly in this study, it suggests the method of estimating the economical efficiency on SD500 re-bar connection, and conducts benefit/ cost analysis on lapped splice and coupler splice by applying AHP theory, and then presents its result. After to analyze re-bar diameter of D25, 29, and 32, finally we attained the result that the coupler splice is advantageous in all parts of benefit/ cost more than the lapped splice.
In this study, the characteristics of heating performance of a high-performance air-cooled heat pump with vapor-injection(VI) cycle using re-heater was investigated experimentally. Devices used in the experiment is consist of a VI compressor, condenser, oil separator, refrigerant (economizer outlet refrigerant) re-heater, economizer, evaporator. And R410A was used as a working fluid. The experiment was conducted with two cycles(cycles A and B) for investigating heating performance. In case of cycle B, heat exchange was conducted by re-heater between outlet refrigerant of compressor and suction refrigerant of the VI system(Fig.1, re-heater). But the re-heater was not used in case of cycle A. As a result of this experiment, discharge temperature of refrigerator in compressor was shown higher value, when the cycle B was conducted, because of the heat exchange between suction refrigerant of VI cycle and outlet refrigerant of compressor in the re-heater than cycle A that was not use re-heater. it means that liquid hammer and the decrement of heating performance can be decreased by using re-heater. Also, Heating coefficient of performance(COPh) was shown about 2.98 in Cycle B which was 4% higher than Cycle A and from these results, It was confirmed that the improvement of the heating performance of heat pump with VI cycle can be achieved by applying re-heater.
