An Enhanced TACT Technique for Finish Work of High-rise Residential Buildings

  • Execution of the finish work for high-rise residential construction occurs when a mixture of work progresses simultaneously at each floor or sector and is carried on by highly-specialized subcontractor teams. Therefore, the finish work plan requires an effective scheduling method that interfaces between the work and the teams. In order to address these issues, the TACT technique is utilized in Korea. This technique is based on Line-of-Balance and Lean construction. However, according to recent case studies, finish work using TACT technique was frequently delayed with cost overruns because the work was performed without a detailed schedule control plan outlining the relationship between architecture and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. This paper describes the enhanced-TACT technique which provides a detailed work flow chart and TACT work template. With improved TACT technique, this paper will contribute to improved cash flow and reduced cycle time and provide quality improvement through work continuity.

  • Recent AEC industry, is introducing BIM based design process which mainly focuses on collaboration and integration. Since BIM has characteristic of utilizing several design libraries in various fields across the AEC industry, obtaining BIM libraries are essential for introducing and applying the BIM successfully. Thus, creating BIM libraries and guidelines for various fields are needed. BIM libraries can be categorized into disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical industries. Especially, companies in mechanical industry possesses design data for creating BIM library. Due to the fact, we standardized the property information for BIM libraries. And for BIM library production, we have developed a program which uses neutral format to convert 3D MCAD data designed by $NX^{TM}$ into $Revit^{TM}$ Family. Finally, we developed a program that merges property information to Revit Family file.

무공해 자동차용 수열원 히트펌프 시스템의 난방 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Heating Performance of Coolant Heat Source Heat Pump System for Zero Emission Vehicles)

  • This study presented the feasibility of a coolant heat-source heat pump system as an alternative heating system for electrically driven vehicles. Heat pumps are among the most environmentally friendly and efficient heating technologies in residential buildings. In various countries, electric mobiles devices such as EV, PHEV, and FCEV, have been mainly concerned with heat pumps for new mobile markets. The experiments herein were conducted for various ambient temperatures and coolant temperatures to reflect the winter season. The system, a coolant heat-source heat pump, consisted of an inside heat exchanger, an outside heat exchanger, a motor driven compressor, an electronic expansion valve, and plumbing parts. For the experimental results, the maximum heating capacity and air discharge temperature are up to 6.3 kW and $62^{\circ}C$ respectively at an ambient temperature of $10^{\circ}C$, and coolant at $10^{\circ}C$. However, at $-20^{\circ}C$ ambient temperature and $-10^{\circ}C$ coolant temperature, conditions were insufficient to warm the cabin as the air discharge temperature was $13^{\circ}C$.

압력실의 크기와 운전 조건에 따른 수격펌프의 성능에 대한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Study on the Effect of Air Chamber Size and Operation Parameters on the Performance of a Hydraulic Ram Pump)

  • Motor pumps cannot be used in those areas where electricity is not accessible such as remote rural areas in many African countries. Hydraulic ram pump is one of the solutions for supplying water for irrigation or domestic uses. The hydraulic ram pumps are working based on the water hammer effect for pumping without external power or electricity. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of air chamber volume and operation parameters on the performance of the hydraulic ram pump which was assembled with common plumbing parts. The experimental results showed the volume of the air chamber did not affect the performance such as discharge rate and head. When drive heights were 1.7 and 2.35 m, the maximum discharge heads were up to 7 m and 10 m, respectively. When the air chamber volume was 1 L, discharge rates were 0.23 and 2.12 L/min under the drive heights of 1.7 and 2.35 m, respectively. The average energy efficiency of the hydraulic ram pump assembled in this study was about 60% for all the experimental conditions.

설비배관에서 용접봉에 따른 환경오염 (Environments Pollution Caused by Welding Rod in the Process of Pipe Working)

  • Welding technology is applicable in many kinds of fields, with the help of its advantages such as easy operational procedure and structural simplification. However, in the process of welding, hazardous materials and fumes cause huge fire broke-outs, explosions, and health-conscious problems. Also, as heavy metals in fumes have a harmful effect on the environment, recently, this has emerged as a urgent social issue. This study has been aimed at the recommendation of the most environment-friendly, among materials currently used in plumbing welding, and it has been done at the result of the analysis of amount, ingredient, and size in collected fumes created in the experiment of welding five rods to galvanized steel pipes and steel pipe ones. At the test result, due to the effect of Zn-coating, galvanized steel pipes, when welded to rods, created more fumes than steel pipe ones. In the mean time, when it comes to welding rods, among five, WR-03 produced fumes the least. Therefore, a combination of the test results clearly indicates that the case of welding WR-03 to cast-iron pipes turned out to be the most environment-friendly.

부식억제제에 의한 상수도관의 부식제어 (Corrosion control of drinking water pipes by corrosion inhibitor)

  • 상수도관의 부식은 수돗물이 공급되는 과정에서 관 표면의 금속과 물 사이의 일련의 복잡한 산화/환원 반응이다. 부식으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 1차적인 고려사항은 철, 납, 동과 같은 독성이 있는 중금속이 물속에 존재할 수 있다는 것이며, 이는 상수도관에 악영향을 미치며, 세탁물을 훼손하거나 맛을 낼 수 있는 심미적인 문제도 발생된다. 본 연구에서는 부식억제제가 상수도관의 부식도, 수돗물 중의 철 및 동의 용출 농도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해서 평가하였다. 부식저감 효과는 인산염계 부식억제제와 큰 관련성이 있었다. 부식반응은 물과 관의 표면에서 이루어지는 일련의 전기화학적인 반응임을 고려하면 철의 용출농도와 부식도는 양(+)의 상관관계에 있다.

An experimental study of AAC masonry prisms with chases under compression

  • Installing wiring or plumbing fixtures necessitates creating chases within masonry walls, which, while serving practical purposes, raises a crucial concern regarding the potential compromise of the masonry's structural integrity. Given these concerns, it becomes essential to thoroughly understand the impact of incorporating chases on masonry strength. In this study, 37 AAC masonry prisms (200×330×100 mm3) were cast and tested for compression. The prisms were equipped with chases of various depths -10 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm; and orientations (horizontal, inclined, and vertical), which were then filled with mortar using 1:2, 1:4, and 1:6 cement-to-sand ratios. The primary objectives were to assess the strength decrease in the prisms with different chase characteristics compared to a control specimen and to determine the percentage strength increase due to filling materials compared to unfilled chases. Key findings indicate that as chase depth increases, there is a substantial reduction in prism strength. However, the orientation of the chase does not significantly affect strength reduction. Importantly, filling the chases with mortar leads to a significant increase in prism strength. This study not only unveils the complex impact of chase characteristics on masonry strength but also emphasizes the crucial role of filling materials in strengthening these prisms.

효과적인 포인트 클라우드 기반 건축 MEP 파이프 객체 역설계 처리를 위한 시스템 아키텍처 (System Architecture for Effective Point Cloud-based Reverse Engineering of Architectural MEP Pipe Object)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 효과적인 건축 MEP(Mechanic, Electric and Plumbing) 파이프 객체 역설계 자동화를 위한 시스템 아키텍처를 제안하고, 프로토타입 개발을 통해 역설계 기술에서 향후 개선할 점을 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위해 역설계 작업에 필요한 요구사항, 유스케이스, 기능 및 클래스를 도출하였다. 도출된 기능을 바탕으로 건축 MEP파이프 객체 역설계를 위한 아키텍처를 설계하였으며, 시스템의 정적 구조, 알고리즘을 설계하였다. 제안된 시스템 아키텍처를 기반으로 한 프로토타입 개발 연구를 통해 향후 개선할 점을 도출하였으며, 일반적인 파이프 유형은 RANSAC(RANdom SAmple Consensus)등 일반적인 역설계 방법으로 처리가 가능하지만, 이형 파이프와 대용량 데이터 처리를 위한 공간 인덱싱 기반 LOD(Level Of Detail)기법이 별도로 고려될 필요가 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

  • An analysis of the current water leak status of understand structure (underground parking lots, staircases, plumbing systems, water reservoirs, etc.) of multi-family housing in South Korea shows that water leaks are found from cracks in all areas of the underground structure caused by the degradation environment (water pressure by underground water, humidity, temperature, earth pressure, soil behaviour and vibration, etc.), which result in various problems, including mold, malodour, debonding of finishing materials, exfoliation, breakout, water leaks in electrical boxes, efflorescence, sedimentation of calcium hydroxide, decoloration, rusting, damages and pollution among others. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the current status of water leaks in underground structure and use the results as the basic data for developing a standard guideline for water leaks and maintenance by parts of the underground structure of multi-family housing.

모델 스틸하우스 방문자의 주거가치관 분석 (A Study on Housing Value Orientation of Model Steel House Visitors)

  • This study was designed to find tendencies of housing value orientation of the model steel house visitors. Questionnaires were collected in June, 1997, 1,550 in total, 508 cases from Seoul, 456 cases from Pohang, and 486 cases from Kwangyang. Data were analyzed in terms of housing value orientation, using statistical methods including frequencies, mean, percentages, chi-square test and multiple regression. The major findings are as follows; 1. The subjects were highly educated(64% of them were college graduates) with the monthly income over 2,000,000won(approximately $1,540). The average monthy income of the subjects in Seoul, about 4,000,000won($3,070), was much higher than that of other areas. Most of the subjects were condominium owners(72%), who preferred single detatched houses or town houses located in suburban areas. 2. Differences in general tendencies among the three regional groups were statistically significant. Most significantly, subjects living in Pohang regarded the reputation of the building construction company most importnat. Subjects of all three regional areas, especially in Pohang, emphasized investment value. The price of the steel house was regarded as very important by all the groups tested. The housing value orientation was analyzed in 3 aspects; (1) Facility.Plumbing.Structure(FPS), (2) Interior space formation.Design(ID) and (3) Developmental complex.Near Environment(DN). Interior environment level, stability of house structure, and finighing state of interiors were identified as the important factors in the area of FPS(p<.05). The Interior plan organization was the most important factor among ID. As for DN, rated importantly were educational facilities, green areas, convenience of commercial facilities within the developmental complex were rated importantly.
