Analysis of Backstroke 100m Race Management Ability of National Swimmer with Intellectual Disabilities (지적장애 수영 국가대표 선수의 배영 100m 경기운영능력 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the backstroke 100m race management ability of national swimmer with developmental disabilities. As a result of the study, first, he started slow to the first 50m phase and swam fast to the last 100m in 2015, however, he started fast to the first 50m phase and swam slow to the last 100m in 2016-2018. Second, the time of under water increased over the years, the distance and time of under water were the greater, and the speed of under water was the smallest in 2017. Third, the average of the distance during turn was 7.51 m, the time during turn was 4.34 sec, and the speed during turn was 1.73 m/s for four years. Fourth, the stroke efficiency during the first 50m phase increased over the years, and the stroke efficiency during the last 100m phase was greater in 2017. Based on this results, it is expected to be useful for training of swimmer with developmental disabilities.

Antioxidant Properties and Ubiquinone Contents in Different Parts of Several Commercial Mushrooms (시판버섯의 부위별 항산화능과 유비퀴논 함량)

  • Antioxidant properties and antioxidant compound contents in different parts of 14 commercial mushrooms were evaluated. Methanolic extracts from the entire mushroom, the pileus and the stipe, separately, were screened for their DPPH and ABTS free radical scavenging activities. Total ubiquinones (Coenzyme Qs; CoQs), total phenolic, and flavonoid contents were determined, in order to assess the extract's antioxidant activity. The portion of the mushroom selected had an effect on the results, with pileus methanolic extract exhibiting the greatest antioxidant effect (p<0.05). The analyzed mushrooms contained powerful antioxidants such as phenols (144.5~536.6 mg of gallic acid equivalents, mg GAE/100 g of dried weight, dw), flavonoids (3.7~31.2 mg of quercetin equivalents, mg QE/100 g dw) and ubiquinones (65.6~485.1 ${\mu}g$/100 g dw). Content of CoQ9 and CoQ10 in the 14 commercial mushrooms varied from 23.1 to 256.2 ${\mu}g$/100 g and from 16.1 to 238.3 ${\mu}g$/100 g, respectively. Phellinus linteus showed the highest antioxidant activity among all species due to the contribution of antioxidants such as phenols (530.5 mg GAE/100 g dw) and ubiquinones (308.8 ug/100 g dw). A positive linear correlation was demonstrated between free radical scavenging activity and total phenolic ($R^2=0.79$) and ubiquinone ($R^2=0.59$) contents in the pileus of mushrooms (p<0.05). Our data indicate that commercial mushrooms have potential as dietary sources of CoQs and phenolic antioxidants.

Dyeing Properties of Acetate/Functional Polyester Composite Yarn in Different Yarn Twisting Processes (연사방법에 따른 아세테이트/기능성 폴리에스터 복합사의 염색성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the dyeing properties of four kinds of composite yams that were twisted in different processes. The composite yarns consist of acetate and functional polyester in ratio of 70 : 30. The composite yams were dyed at 100$^{circ}C$ and 125$^{circ}C$ using three types of dyes, disperse dyes for acetate fiber, PET fiber and PET-acetate blended fiber, in the three primary colors. The exhaustion($\%$) and K/S value were observed for each case. Also the effects of four different twisting processes to dyeing properties and physical properties were examined. Regardless of twisting methods, the composite yarns that were dyed at 125$^{circ}C$ had higher exhaustion($\%$) than those were dyed at 100$^{circ}C$ with all three types of dyes; However, tendency of the K/S value after reduction cleaning process was measured at 100$^{circ}C$ and the value measured 125$^{circ}C$ had a great difference with disperse dyes for acetate and dyes for PET. The difference of the K/S values of composite yarns, when dyed at 100$^{circ}C$ and 125$^{circ}C$ with disperse dyes for PET-acetate blended fiber, was almost negligible. According to twisting methods K/S values were in the following order: AP1 > AP3 > AP4> AP2. This means that AP1, treated at 220$^{circ}C$, had the highest K/S value and K/S value becomes higher as the yam is higher twisted and becomes lower as lower twisted. On the other hand, the dry shrinkage and wet shrinkage showed low shrinkage rate when the twist was high and steam setting temperature was high.

A Study on the Mutagenicity of Autoxidized Soybean Oil (자동산화 대두유의 돌연변이원성에 관환 연구)

  • Commercial soybean oil, which did not contain any antioxidant, were autoxidized at $60{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ for 79 days, and the changes of peroxide value(POV), thiobarbituric acid value(TBAV), conjugated dienoic acid(CDA) content, and fatty acid composition of the oil were studied during the 79 day-storage period. The samples with POV S of 0, 150, 300, 500, 450, 400 and 300 meq./kg oil were used for the test of mutagenic activity. The Ames test was carried out with and without metabolic activation. Bacterial strains used in this study were the histidine auxotrophic strains of S. typhimurium TA100, TA1535, and TA102 for the detection of base pair, and TA98 and TA1537 for frame shift mutations. Each series of samples was disso1ved in tetrahydrofuran(inhibitor free) and tested at doses ranging from 0.05 to 5 mg/plate. The autoxidized soybean oil increased significantly(p<0.05) the number of $His^+$ revertant colonies in cases of TA 98 with S9 mix, TA100 without S9 mix, 1535 and 1537 with and without S9, respectively. The samples having the highest peroxide values showed the strongest mutagenicity. It seemed that the amount of hydroperoxides in the oils was closely related to the mutagenic activity of the respective oils.

Mutagenic Activity of Smoke Flavoring Processed from Oak and Apple Wood on Manufacturing Temperature (굴참나무와 사과나무로부터 제조한 훈연액의 제조온도에 따른 돌연변이원성에 관한 연구)

  • The study was carried out to screen mutagenicity of smoking materials for the determination of optimum smoking temperature for meat products. Wood materials employed for smoking were oak and apple trees. Temperatures of the generator for manufacturing of smoke flavoring were set to 250$^{\circ}C$, 400$^{\circ}C$ and 500$^{\circ}C$, respectively. Mutagenic activities of smoke flavoring were assayed according to Ames test using Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and TA 100. In oak wood smoke flavoring, Salmonella typhimurium TA98 without S-9 mix showed strong mutagenic activities at the concentration of 6$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(250$^{\circ}C$), 4$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(400$^{circ}C$) and 6$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(500$^{\circ}C$). Salmonella typhimurium TA100 with S-9 mix showed strong mutagenic activities at the concentration of 10$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(250$^{\circ}C$), 20$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(400$^{\circ}C$) and 10$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(500$^{\circ}C$). Salmonella typhimurium TA98 with S-9 mix showed strong mutagenic activities at the concentration of 30$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(250$^{\circ}C$), 40$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(400$^{\circ}C$) and 20$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(500$^{\circ}C$). Salmonella typhimurium TA100 with S-9 mix showed strong mutagenic activities at the concentration of 30$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(250$^{\circ}C$), 20$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(400$^{\circ}C$) and 30$\mu\textrm{g}$/plate(500$^{\circ}C$). From these results, it could be concluded that optimum smoking temperature for meat products should be set below 400$^{\circ}C$, that the compounds like benzo[a]pyrene etc. contain a variety of mutagenic potentials, which could be generated at the higher smoking temperature.

Directionality of O-Phthaladehyde adsorbed on H-Si(100) Surface Using NEXAFS and HRPES

  • The electronic and adsorption structure of O-Phthaladehyde (OPA) on the H-Si(100) surface was investigated by using Near Edge X-ray Fine Structure (NEXAFS) and high resolution photoemission spectroscopy (HRPES). We confirmed that the OPA grown on the H-Si(100) surface showed good dependency with about 60 degree tilting angle using NEXAFS and a single O 1s peak by using HRPES. Hydrogen atom passivated on the Si(100) surface was found to be a seed for making one dimensional organic line that uses a chain reaction as the H-Si(100) surface was compared with the hydrogen free Si(100) surface. Through the spectral analysis, we will demonstrate 1-D directional formation of OPA on H-Si(100) surface using NEXAFS and HRPES.
