  • This research discussed a general concept on the qualitative research methods in mathematics education. It provided a classification of research methods in mathematics education. It also described research trends in mathematics education. It addressed how research design facilitates formulating a research problem, selecting a research design, choosing who and what to study, deciding how to approach Participants, selecting means to collect data choosing how to analyzing data, and interpreting data and applying the analysis. This study addressed the issues involved in choosing relevant populations and in selecting and sampling qualitative data. It described how populations are conceptualized and distinguished between probability sampling and criterion based selection. It discussed not only data arrangement such as, cross-sectional and categorical indexing, non-cross- sectional data organization, but also diagram flow chart matrix, cognitive map, family tree to facilitate analyzing data.

  • In clinical studies, different types of outcomes (e.g. repeated measures data and time-to-event data) for the same subject tend to be observed, and these data can be correlated. For example, a response variable of interest can be measured repeatedly over time on the same subject and at the same time, an event time representing a terminating event is also obtained. Joint modelling using a shared random effect is useful for analyzing these data. Inferences based on marginal likelihood may involve the evaluation of analytically intractable integrations over the random-effect distributions. In this paper we propose a joint HGLM approach for analyzing such outcomes using the HGLM (hierarchical generalized linear model) method based on h-likelihood (i.e. hierarchical likelihood), which avoids these integration itself. The proposed method has been demonstrated using various numerical studies.

  • As the firewall is a typical network security equipment, it is usually installed at most of internal/external networks and makes many packet data in/out. So analyzing the its logs stored in it can provide important and fundamental data on the network security research. However, along with development of communications technology, the speed of internet network is improved and then the amount of log data is becoming 'Massive Data' or 'BigData'. In this trend, there are limits to analyze log data using the traditional database model RDBMS. In this paper, through our Method of Analyzing Firewall log data using MapReduce based on NoSQL, we have discovered that the introducing NoSQL data base model can more effectively analyze the massive log data than the traditional one. We have demonstrated execellent performance of the NoSQL by comparing the performance of data processing with existing RDBMS. Also the proposed method is evaluated by experiments that detect the three attack patterns and shown that it is highly effective.

  • DNA chips are used for experiments on genes and provide useful information that could be further analyzed. Using the data extracted from the DNA chips to find useful patterns or information has become a very important issue. In this paper, we explain the application developed for classifying DNA chip data using a classification method based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. Considering that DNA chip data is extremely large and has a fuzzy characteristic, an algorithm that imitates the ecosystem such as the PSO algorithm is suitable to be used for analyzing such data. The application enables researchers to customize the PSO algorithm parameters and see detail results of the classification rules.

  • Named entity recognition (NER) is an important technique for improving the performance of data mining and big data analytics. In previous studies, NER systems have been employed to identify named-entities using statistical methods based on prior information or linguistic features; however, such methods are limited in that they are unable to recognize unregistered or unlearned objects. In this paper, a method is proposed to extract objects, such as technologies, theories, or person names, by analyzing the collocation relationship between certain words that simultaneously appear around specific words in the abstracts of academic journals. The method is executed as follows. First, the data is preprocessed using data cleaning and sentence detection to separate the text into single sentences. Then, part-of-speech (POS) tagging is applied to the individual sentences. After this, the appearance and collocation information of the other POS tags is analyzed, excluding the entity candidates, such as nouns. Finally, an entity recognition model is created based on analyzing and classifying the information in the sentences.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the oral records of sports development contributors to explore the direction of big data research on sports development contributors in the future. To this end, the audio file produced in the interview with Lee00, a sports development contributor, was converted into text. The major themes were extracted by analyzing these oral records. The sub-themes were extracted in chronological order. Keywords were extracted by analyzing sub-themes. And the extracted keywords are searched in Google search engine to find related topics and to use them. A Google search for the topic 'Mt. Inwang' extracted from the oral archives of Lee00, a contributor to the development of sports, finds newspaper articles about President Moon Jae-in's climbing Mt. Inwang and opening up Mt. Bukhan. In addition, articles about Mt. Inwang and mountain climbers that the narrator In-jeong Lee speaks are searched for. Through these articles, you can Deriving the theme of the museum exhibition, Collection of museum exhibits, Use as climbing education material.

  • This paper presents a methodology for analyzing individual differences on Kansei evaluation for a set of product samples. This analysis divides subjects into several groups by each subject's Kansei evaluation data according to what kinds of Kansei are related on what kinds of design elements. The basic idea is to classify the results of cluster analysis in individual subject's ranges. A similarity matrix of subject is computed by comparing dendrogram of each subjects. The methodology is applied to analyzing evaluation data of cellular phone design.

  • Objectives : In many cases, patient's symptoms have been recorded on EMR in natural language instead of medical terminologies. It is possible to build a database by analyzing the symptoms of Korean Medicine(KM) that indicates patient's symptoms in natural language. Using the database, when doctors record patient's symptoms on EMR in natural language, conversely it'll be also possible to extract the symptoms of KM from those natural language. The database will enhance the value of EMR as a medical data. Methods : In this study, we aimed to make data structure of the terminologies that represent the symptoms of KM. The data structure is combinations of smallest unit in natural language. We made the database by analyzing morpheme of the natural language to express the symptoms of KM. Results & Conclusions : By classifying the natural language in 15 features, we made the structure of concept and the data available for morphological analysis.

  • First half of my article focused on analyzing the current state of historical materials regarding weather and climate, and established a list of weather-related historical literature collection of Korea with which to make a lexical approach to the situations of all kinds of weather literature. It also put emphasis on gathering information and data of weather logs from journal-type historical records which were contained in 48 weather-related journals of Choseon period. The results of this research are expected to be useful for the activation of study in historical meteorology. The latter half of my research focused on analyzing various meteorological states of sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy and frosty weather which were recorded in the official Annals of King Kojong (1864~1907). And it re-verified historical rainfall data of preceding researches of Wada Yuji (1917), Jung-Lim (1994), Jhun-Moon (1997). In result, different records were found between data of theirs and mine. It means that we have to analyze and reconstruct newly the meteorological data of the Annals of King Gojong and the Daily Records of Royal Sungjungwon (1623~1910) during the late Choseon period.

  • Ethylene gas classified as one of five major plant hormones plays an important role in various plant metabolism. The precise analysis of ethylene production of plants or plant parts is a valuable research procedure because knowledge of ethylene production facilitates measures of the physiological activity within the tissue. This paper describes procedures for analyzing ethylene from plant tissues by gas chromatography and discusses problems associated with extracting gas samples either by introducing a vacuum to plant samples or by using a hypodermic syringe. Introduced are a continuous flow system for efficient analysis and an automated system for sampling, analyzing, calculating and recording ethylene production data.
