  • Mobility management of the mobile nodes and provision of seamless handover is crucial to an efficient support for the global roaming of the mobile nodes in next-generation wireless networks. Mobile IPv6 and mobility management in extended IP layer, which highly depend on traffic characteristics and user mobility models, were proposed by the IETF. Therefore, to evaluate the in-depth performance about these factors is important. Generally, the performance of IPv6-based mobility management protocol is evaluated through simulation. This paper shows the correlation between network parameters and performance metrics through numerical results, which is investigated how influence handoff latency and packet loss. And this paper uses mathematical analysis of the system parameters, such as the subnet residence time, the packet arrival rate and delay in wireless connection through the analytical framework which evaluate the performance of IPv6-based mobility management protocol.

  • In this paper, free vibration of functionally graded (FG) size-dependent nanobeams is studied within the framework of nonlocal Timoshenko beam model. It is assumed that material properties of the FG nanobeam, vary continuously through the thickness according to a power-law form. The small scale effect is taken into consideration based on nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. The non-classical governing differential equations of motion are derived through Hamilton's principle and they are solved utilizing both Navier-based analytical method and an efficient and semi-analytical technique called differential transformation method (DTM). Various types of boundary conditions such as simply-supported, clamped-clamped, clamped-simply and clamped-free are assumed for edge supports. The good agreement between the presented DTM and analytical results of this article and those available in the literature validated the presented approach. It is demonstrated that the DTM has high precision and computational efficiency in the vibration analysis of FG nanobeams. The obtained results show the significance of the material graduation, nonlocal effect, slenderness ratio and boundary conditions on the vibration characteristics of FG nanobeams.

  • Theorists of war have often used Clausewitz's trinity theory as a framework for analyzing war strategies and histories. Heretofore, studies on cyber warfare have focused primarily on laws, policies, structuring organizations, manpower, and training pertaining to preparing the cyberspace for war. Currently, studies highlighting the comparative characteristics of war in cyberspace, how it differs from conventional warfare, and analytical frameworks for understanding war in cyberspace are rare. Using Clausewitz's trinity theory, this paper interprets the essence of war from the perspectives of (1) Intellect, (2) Bravery, and (3) Passion, to propose an analytical model for understanding war in cyberspace, one that factors in the intrinsic qualities and characteristics of cyberspace under spatial and temporal constraints. Furthermore, this paper applies the aforementioned analytical model to the Iraq War and concludes with a theoretical illustration that cyber warfare played a significant role in winning the war.

  • Purpose: The main theme of this study is to derive a specific quality loss function with multiple characteristics according to the same analytical structure as the single characteristic quality loss function of Taguchi. In other words, it presents an analytical framework for measuring quality costs that can be controlled in practice. Methods: This study followed the analytical methodology through geometric, linear algebraic, and statistical approaches Results: The function suggested by this study is as follows; $$L(x_1,x_2,{\cdots},x_t)={\sum\limits_{i=1}^{t}}k_i\{x_i+{\sum\limits_{j=1}^{t}}\({\rho}_{ij}{\frac{d_i}{d_j}}\)x_j\}x_i$$ Conclusion: This paper derived the quality loss function with multiple quality characteristics to expand the usefulness of the Taguchi quality loss function. The function derived in this paper would be more meaningful to estimate quality costs under the practical situation and general structure with multiple quality characteristics than the function by linear algebraic approach in response surface analysis.

  • The goal of PAT (Process Analytical Technology) is to build quality into products through better understanding and control of manufacturing processes, rather than merely testing the quality of the end product. Pharmaceutical manufacturers are trying to develop and implement new technologies in pharmaceutical production and quality control for real-time measurements of critical product and process parameters. Characterization of manufacturing process through experimental design, for evaluation of the effect of product and process variables, represents an integral part of the PAT framework. However, the publications regarding real PAT application to pharmaceutical process are very limited and the technologies are confidential as well. In this review, the case studies related to PAT are shown with real applications from a pharmaceutical company. Additionally, various applications of PAT on the developing stage are introduced with high analytical technologies for the improvement of quality control on manufacturing process.

  • We don't have time to waste, time is running, and the global warming is an issue that concerns to all of us. Information technology, which on a global level is responsible for 2% of emission of greenhouse gases. However, the remaining 98% is seen as an opportunity for IT to help our planet, our companies and our society. The purpose of this paper is to analyze green information technology (IT) initiatives and their strategic impact. And to have done this, we develope and create a very useful balanced-scorecard framework to explain, understand, and identify the direct and indirect contribution of green IT initiatives. The green IT evaluation framework, called here a sustainable green IT balanced scorecard, integrates the four BSC-IT perspectives with the Zuboff's automate/informate goals of information systems and the contribution of the sustainability (economic, social and environment). This study also seeks to answer the following questions: 1) what are the driving forces for implementing green IT initiatives? 2) How can an analytical framework be built to systematically analyze the benefits and strategic contribution of green IT initiatives? And 3) how green IT initiatives impact the strategic goals of a firm and how they can contribute to the triple bottom line? The framework demonstrates to be useful as a management tool to hopefully integrate environmental and social management with the general management of a company. Besides, the strategy map and measures for each cell of the framework are provided.

  • According to Gerschenkron (1962), the industrialization of relative backward countries was characterized in a systematically varying fashion by sudden spurts. With respect to the technological loaming, its globalization, and the subsequent development of technological capability, Korea, a catching-up nation had some experiences of identifiable discontinuities in her technological development in various industries. This study examines a developmental path of technological catching-up in Korean mobile telecommunication, especially CDMA industry and argues that investment and networking capability play an infrastructural role in accumulating her technological capability. Note that the technological experiences in high-tech industries have made Korea take a different technological path with respect to the previous industrialization. For this purpose, it proposes an analytical framework for examining a developmental path of Korean catching-up players. In addition, it analyzes the case of the Korean mobile telecommunication industry on the basis of the framework, and identifies a developmental path from the case analysis.

  • This study proposes a framework to investigate the factors of mobile web success in the context of e-commerce, and the relative importance of these success factors in selecting the most preferred mobile web. First, the Updated Delone and Mclean IS success model (2003) is chosen to extract significant mobile web success factors in the context of e-commerce. Second, it is extended through applying an Analytic Network Process (ANP) approach for investigating the relative importance of each factor and ranking alternative mobile webs in the context of e-commerce. The choice of success measure is a function of the context, which is the objective of this study. Thus, the present study is aimed at evaluating the success of an e-commerce mobile web by customizing measures of the Updated Delone and McLean IS Success model according to the context.

  • This paper explores, explains and describes a framework for analyzing collaborative governance, decent work and innovation as fundamental elements of sustainable workplaces through case study of Philippine science and technology (S & T) parks. Rules, or the legal infrastructure, are particularly significant considerations that facilitate or hinder collaboration. Industrial relations/human resource (IR/HR) practices are essential to collaboration and decent work. Employee consultation and labor-management council or committee are examples of IR/HR practices that might contribute to collaboration and decent work in firms and workplaces in S & T parks as they are team approaches to production, too. Collaboration and decent work enhance the capacity to innovate. In the long run, collaborative governance, decent work and innovation tend to converge in the concept of sustainable development. The interdependencies and interactions among collaborative governance, decent work and capacity to innovate in firms operating in S & T parks make possible new solutions to new problems (i.e., innovation) and, thus, sustainable workplaces.
