  • The issue of connection between entities has a lengthy history in educational research, especially since it provides the necessary bridge between base and target in analogical transfer. Recently, the connection has been viewed through the application of technology to bridge between sequences in order to be cognitively useful. This study reports the effect of sequence type (AT vs. TA) and connection type (fading vs. popping) on the achievement and analogical transfer in a multimedia application. In the current research, 10th -grade and 11th -grade biology students in Korea were randomly assigned to five groups to test the effects of presentation sequence and entity connection type on analogical transfer. Consistent with previous studies, sequence type has a significant effect: analogical transfer performance was better when base representations were presented first followed by target representations rather than the reverse order. This is probably because presenting a familiar base first helps in understanding a less familiar target. However, no fully significant differences were found with the entity connection types (fading vs. popping) in analogical transfer. According to the Markman and Gentner's (2005) spatial model, analogy in a space is influenced only by the differences between concepts, not by distance in space. Thus connection types fail on the basis of this spatial model in analogical transfer test. The findings and their implications for sequence and connection research and practice are discussed. Leveraging on the analogical learning process, specific implications for scaffolding learning processes and the development of adaptive expertise are drawn.

  • Code reuse in software reuse has several limitations such as difficulties of understanding and retrieval of the reuse code written by other developers. To overcome these problems, it should be possible to reuse the analysis/design information than source code itself. Therefore, this paper present analogical matching techniques for the reuse of object models and patterns. And this paper have suggested the object model and the design patterns as reusable components and the representation techniques to store them. Namely, the contents of the paper are as follows. Analogical matching functions to retrieve analogous components from reusable libraries. And the representation of reusable components to be stored in the library in order to support the analogical matching.

  • The process of analogical reasoning can be conventionally summarized in five steps : Representation, Access, Mapping, Adaptation, Learning. The purpose of this study is to develop more detailed model for reason of analogies considering the distinct characteristics of the mathematical education based on the process of analogical reasoning which is already established. Ultimately, This model is designed to facilitate students to use analogical reasoning more productively. The process of developing model is divided into three steps. The frist step is to draft a hypothetical model by looking into historical example of Leonhard Euler(1707-1783), who was the great mathematician of any age and discovered mathematical knowledge through analogical reasoning. The second step is to modify and complement the model to reflect the characteristics of students' thinking response that proves and links analogically between the law of cosines and the Pythagorean theorem. The third and final step is to draw pedagogical implications from the analysis of the result of an experiment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the most effective teaching model in the study of boiling point elevation. The teaching models were classified into three group-deductive, inductive and analogical teaching models. Learning materials, based on three teaching models respectively, were applied to 11th grade students, and the effect of teaching models were investigated and analyzed. The average achievement score(4.24) of the group treated with the analogical teaching model was higher than those(3.06 respectively) of each group treated with inductive or deductive teaching model(p<0.001). Most students answered that the analogical teaching model was helpful and interesting one for the comprehension of scientific concept.

  • In this paper, we introduce the design method using CAE(Computer Aided Engineering) which is profitable in the compatability and standardization of the developed product, and the reduction of construction time and price to develop and design a machine equipment. Particularly, we select the standard model to design or develop from the large machinery to the super precision one, extract the peculiar characters of the model by the close analysis of the physical and technical part, the experiment for the characteristics of objective dimensions by analogical mathematical analysis for previous results, and can induce the design model demanded by user investigating optimal data in the design previous We present the analogical algorithms and process method of design factors and restriction factors in the systematization design with computer. Then we analyze step functions for each systematization equipment and induce the process of technical data with actuator model.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand interrelation between design thinking system and creativity, and to analyze designer how to develop personal conception and attitude in interior design through the method of analogy for signification. The process of this study is illustrated as follows: 1. Introduction of general theories about analogical grammar and signification of analogy. 2. Investigating possibility of analogy as creative thinking method in interior design for meaning development. 3. Establishment of design process model for analogical design based on the case study through the design field. That is, concept and process of analogical design is shown objectively by application in collective residential design as commercial product strategy. Through this process, this study presents possibility of giving meaning in interior space through consilience between source and target of analogy. Finally, it examines analogical method is major strategy for ideation and mechanism for meaning development in interior design.

  • In this paper, systematization design method by analogical Interpretation which is profitable in the compatability and standardization of developed products and is useful of reducing construction time and price was introduced. Systematization design based on analogical interpretation is a method which systematizes each characteristic with mathematical description in order to make variable design parameters correspond with the terms desired. In this paper, after choosing a differential transformer as the sample for design components each characteristic was expressed mathematically by analogical interpretation and miniaturized ones were manufactured by similarity factors. The relationship between input voltages of an actual differential transformer and the model and output voltages occurred by the change of the displacements in operational axis was shown.

  • We introduce the systematization design method using analogical analysis. The design method can make us predict the characteristic experiment for the magnitude we desire as the expression equation applied continuously. We can induce the design sample the users demand with the verification of the data on optimum design previously. Therefore in case of designing and developing the products systematization design method is very useful for the standardization of the developed goods compatability the reduction of construction time and price. In this paper we present the analogical algorithms of systematization design using similarity theory design factors and processing method of the restriction factors. Also we analyze the output voltage in terms of input voltage and displacement as choosing a differential transformer as the model.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of a visual-analogical learning model based on theoretical research on visual thinking and analogical learning. To examine the effect of visual-analogical learning, both an experimental group and a control group were selected from 6th graders at H elementary school in Yeonsugu, Incheon and tested on creativity and science achievement Results of this study showed as that visual-analogical learning produced statistically significant differences for changes in student creativity, For the individual components of creativity; openness, fluency, and originality, results showed greater increases for the experimental group, whereas flexibility showed only statistically significant differences. In regards to science achievement, the experimental group showed a bigger increase than the control group, but these findings were statistically nonsignificant For changes to creativity in the group divided according to creativity score, this instructional method was more effective in the middle and lower group than the higher group, An investigation of attitude, revealed a positive student reaction students felt these science classes to be more interesting than previous science classes. Moreover, students wanted to create new innovative product themselves.
