A newly recorded ampithoid species, Ampithoe akuolaka Barnard, 1970 from Korean waters is reported with a description and illustrations. This species is distinguished from other congeneric species by the following characteristic features: the apical lobules of the lower lip are separated, but short and tumid; the posterodistal corner of the carpus on gnathopod 1 has a triangular extension in mature males; and the palm of gnathopod 2 is largely bifid in mature males. We examine the fine structures that are not mentioned in the original description using scanning electron microscopy for a better observation, and present a changed key to Korean ampithoid species.

Two ampithoid species, Ampithoe lacertosa Bate and A. tarasovi Bulycheva, are redescribed. A. tarasovi has been misidentified as A. lacertosa in Korea. A. tarasovi can be distinguished from A. lacertosa in having the following characteristics: the apical and medial lobes of outer lobe are separated in the lower lip, the carpus of male gnathopod 1 is about 1.4 times as long as the propodus, the palm of male gnathopod 2 has a sloped quadrate hump and a posterodistal tooth, the peduncle of uropod 3 is approximately 2 times as long as the rami, and the length of the carpus is longer than that of the propodus of female gnathopod 1. This study provides detailed descriptions and figures for both species. A. tarasovi is reported for the first time as a member of the Korean fauna.

1973년 7월부터 1987년 10월까지 한국연안의 32개 지역에서 채집되어 서울 대학교 자연대 동물학과에 보관되어 있던 옆새우류의 표본중에서 Ampithoidae 에 속하는 것들올 동정힌 결과 3속 12종이 밝혀졌다. 이 중에서 5종은 신종이므로 각각 Ampithoe breviPalma, Ampithoe koreana, Ampithoe youngsanensis, Peramphithoe baegryeongensis, Peramphithoe namhaensis 라고 명명 하고 기재하였다. Ampithoe valida의 동종이명으로 처리되던 Ampithoe shimizuensis를 AmPithoe valida와 구별하여 새로운 아종인 Ampithoe valida shimizuensis로 명명하였다. 이외에 4종은 한국 미기록종 이었다.
