Acrylic resins containing tertiary amine were synthesized by a radical polymerization of monomers including n-butyl acrylate (BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), n-butyl methacrylate (BMA) and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA), and diethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) containing tertiary amine. Synthesized acrylic resins were applied to develope coatings of acrylic resins containing tertiary amine. And ${\gamma}$-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) or ${\gamma}$-glycidoxypropyl triethoxysilane (GPTES) was used as hardener. Developed coatings were white colored ones to use titanium dioxide and were hardened with hardener for measuring their physical properties. Measured physical properties were basic properties, adhesivity and weatherability. As a result, developed acrylic resins coatings containing tertiary amine showed excellent adhesivity on various substrates and also showed the same result on weatherability on dry weather condition.
Tolaasin, a peptide toxin produced by Pseudomonas tolaasii, causes a serious disease on the cultivated mushrooms, known as brown blotch disease. Hemolysis using red blood cells was designed to measure the cytotoxicity of tolaasin molecules. Since tolaasin has two amine groups near the C-terminus, its membrane binding will be dependent on the ionic states of the amine groups. When the tolaasin peptide was titrated, its titration curve indicated the presence of titratable amine(s) at pH ranges from 7.0 to 9.6. When the pH-dependence of tolaasin-induced hemolysis was measured at various pHs, hemolysis was more efficient at alkaline pHs. In order to measure the membrane binding activity of tolaasin at different pHs, RBCs were incubated with tolaasin molecules for short time periods and washed out with fresh buffer. Because of the tolaasin binding during the preincubation period, fast hemolyses were observed at pH 8 or higher. These results imply that non-charged or less positively charged states of tolaasin molecules easily bind to membrane and show high hemolytic activity.

In this work, we developed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkanethiols on gold that can release amine groups, when an electrical potential was applied to the gold. The strategy was based on the introduction of the electroactive carbamate group, which underwent the two-electron oxidation with simultaneous release of the amine molecules, to alkanethiols. The synthesis of the designed thiol compounds was achieved by coupling isocyanate-containing compound with hydroquinone. The electroactive thiols were mixed with hydroxyl-containing alkanethiol [$HS(CH_2)_{11}OH$] to form mixed monolayers, and cyclic votammetry was used for the characterization of the release. The mixed SAMs showed a first oxidation peak at +540 mV (versus Ag/AgCl reference electrode), demonstrating irreversible conversion from carbamate to hydroqinone with simultaneous release of the amine groups. The second and third cycles showed typical reversible redox reaction of hydroquinone and quione: the oxidation and reduction occurred at +290 mV and -110 mV, respectively. The measurement of ToF-SIMS further indicates that electrochemical-assisted chemical reaction successfully released amine groups. This new SAM-based electrochemistry would be applicable for direct release of biologically active molecules that contain amine groups.

This study was performed to determine changes in mutagenicity and biogenic amine concentrations in sausages fermented with six different starter cultures treated with vitamins C and E. Six different types of fermented sausages with different combination of starter cultures were manufactured. T1, Pediococcus acidilactici; T2, P. pentosaceus and Staphylococcus carnosus; T3, S. carnosus, S. xylosus, Debaryomyces hansenii, Lactobacillus curvatus, and P. pentosaceus; T4, S. carnosus and L. sakei; T5, S. xylosus and L. plantarum; and T6, Penicillium nalgiovensis. After treatment with vitamins C and E in fermented sausages, changes in mutagenicity and biogenic amine concentrations were measured. The sausages fermented with Staphylococcus xylosus and Lactobacillus plantarum starter cultures showed the most effective antimutagenic activity (p<0.05). The mutagenicity was further decreased in the sausages treated with vitamins C and E (p<0.05), regardless of the starter cultures. The use of Pediococcus acidilactici, S. xylosus, L. plantarum, and Penicillium nalgiovensis as starter cultures was effective in decreasing biogenic amine concentrations (p<0.05). In addition, vitamin E was more effective in decreasing the biogenic amine concentrations than vitamin C. In conclusion, we recommend the use of S. xylosus and L. plantarum as starter cultures, in addition to the use of vitamins C and E, to reduce the potential risk of meat mutagens in fermented sausages.

We have been fabricated Thin-walled carbon nanotubes (TWNTs)/amine epoxy additives composite using Eco-friendly solvent system such as supercritical process and dry mixed process. TWNTs/amine epoxy additives composite has used as a curing agent for urethane based bisphenol A type epoxy resin. The thermo-mechanical property of the epoxy resin cured by TWNTs/amine epoxy additives composite is characterized by dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) and dispersability of the nanotubes in the epoxy matrix is also confirmed by scanning electron microscope(SEM). As a results, the epoxy resin cured by TWNTs/amine epoxy additives composite with supercritical process shows enhanced dispersability of the TWNTs in the matrix and thermo-mechanical property when compare to dry mixed process.
A zwitterionic surfactant shows not only detergency but also softening effect since it shows characteristics of a nonionic or an anionic surfactant above an isoelectric point, while showing characteristics of a cationic surfactant below an isoelectric point. Therefore, a zwitterionic surfactant can serve as a dual function surfactant by a single molecule through the interconversion of cleaning and softening effects depending on pH of the aqueous solution. In this study, the dual function characteristics of an amine oxide zwitterionic surfactant were investigated by measuring the zeta potential and the isoelectric point using quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). In addition, the physical properties of an amine oxide surfactant such as critical micelle concentration, surface tension, interfacial tension, contact angle and viscosity were measured and phase behavior study was also performed. The isoelectric point of an amine oxide surfactant determined by zeta potential measurement was near 7.35 and that obtained by QCM experiment was about 7.4, where both results were found to be close to the value reported in the literature.
In the present study, biogenic amine-forming Bacillus spp. and bacteriocin-producing lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from Doenjang were generally identified through 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of cheonggukjang prepared using the isolated strains were investigated. Biogenic amine-producing bacteria from the samples were identified as Bacillus licheniformis DB102, B. subtilis DB203, B. stearothermophilus DB206, B. pumilus DB209, B. subtilis DB310, B. coagulans DB311, B. cereus DB313, B. amyloliquefaciens DB714, B. amylolique-faciens DB915, B. licheniformis DB917, B. cereus DB1019, B. subtilis DB1020, B. megaterium DB1022. The bacteriocin-producing LAB showed antibacterial effect against biogenic amine-producing Bacillus spp. were identified as Lactobacillus plantarum DLA205, L. brevis DLA501, L. fermentum DLA509, L. acidophilus DLA703, and Enterococcus faecalis DLA804. The bacteriocin produced by the LAB significantly decreased the viable numbers and the amine production ability of the biogenic amine-forming Bacillus spp. in a concentration dependent manner. Therefore, the pH, ammonia nitrogen and biogenic amine content of cheonggukjang prepared by mixed culture of the LAB and Bacillus spp. were significantly decreased compared to the control group.
Preparative features of photoinduced single electron transfer (SET) reactions of selected N-silylmethallyl-iminium salts have been probed in the context of strategies for functionally complex spirocyclic amine synthesis.
