  • An equivalent circuit model of vehicle charging-discharging system for simulation is developed. The vehicle electric power system consists of alternator and battery. The alternator must have adequate capacity for providing electric energy to all loads, and the battery supports the alternator by offering insufficient energy when the alternator output energy is not enough. The alternator model is simplified for the use of characteristic curve, which was provided by its manufacturer, and the battery model is separated in charging mode and discharging mode because of its complex characteristics. Developed circuit model is validated by comparing the simulation data and real experimental data.

  • An alternator which converts mechanical rotating energy into electric energy is an important component of a vehicle. It operates in broad range from 3000 RPM to 18000 RPM. So, sufficient flow rate and low noise are needed in such broad operating range for a cooling fan of this alternator. In current study, the cooling fan of an alternator is developed through DFSS process and numerical analysis. In order to calculate flow rate and noise level, SC/Tetra and Flow Noise are used respectively, for a new developed fan, compared with original model, numerical result shows 3 dBA reduction and measured value shows 4 dBA reduction.

  • The die casting process was used to manufacture an automotive alternator housing. Generally automobile parts are required to be light and have high strength. The control of casting defects is important but has usually been depended only on the experience of the foundry engineer. Therefore simulations have been carried out on the die casting process of alternator housing. In this paper. we investigated the characteristics of the die casted alternator housing with the HPDC(High Pressure Die Casting) process. We presented the results of filling behavior and solidification process of the cast, The analysis results obtained from the filling behavior and solidification of cast agreed with test results.

  • Many automotive components for power generation such as motors and alternators have been widely using ferrite magnets. To ensure a high level of efficiency could be achieved in an alternator, the assembled magnets must be in good enough durability. Recently, some hairline cracks have been found on the magnet produced by manufacturers in Korea. Thus, there is an increasing concern that some of the magnets produced could cause further problems after being assembled in the alternator. Based on the standard alternator test (RS0008 : 2006), this paper has developed an accelerated failure-free test for magnets in alternator to demonstrate that assembled magnets will meet durability objective specified by the manufacturer. This guarantees the target life of the magnet with 90 percent reliability and 90 percent confidence level (R90C90). Temperature and rotation speed were selected as accelerated stress factors.

  • 본 연구에서는 적극적인 소음 방지 대책으로 승용차용 교류발전기의 소음을 저감시키기 위한 첫단계로 각 부품 별 주요 소음 발생 기여도를 회전속도에 따른 주파수 분석을 통해 측정하였다. 교류발전기의 소음은 크게 자기 소음, 기계소음, 통풍 소음으로 구분할 수 있다. 이들 소음은 전자기 부품의 설계와 교류발전기의 구조 설계, 각 부품의 가공 정밀도, 그리고 전체 구조물의 결합 상태와 밀접한 관련을 갖고 있다.

  • 차량의 교류발전기는 성능 및 효율에 따라 자동차의 연비와 배기가스에 많은 영향을 준다. 효율을 개선시키고 연비를 향상시키려는 노력은 자동차업체및 업체를 중심으로 계속되고 있다. 본논문은 A교류 발전기의 설계절차를 정리하고 같은 크기의 교류발전기에서 출력을 최적화하는 인자를 발굴하여 실차의 조건에서 충방전 Simulation을 통해 Energy Balance를 검증하였다.

  • Recently one of the automobile customer's greatest concerns is quietness in a vehicle along with various functional requirements such as comfort, stability, mobility etc. Therefore car makers place more weight on vehicle noise. Especially, in the case of diesel engine, as the noise level of engine becomes more silent by the development of engineering technology. The noise of alternator with vacuum pump has been able to be noticed enough becoming an issue on vehicles. In this study vacuum pump noise on alternator was identified andclassified into five types. DOE was applied to induce the statistical analysis result to reduce the vacuum pump noise. It was done by subjective listening. Design and statistical analysis are done with Minitab software. This work provides dominant elements of vacuum pump noise on alternator and can be the basis of furture studies.

얼터네이터 풀리의 제조를 위한 사출성형공정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Injection Molding Process for Manufacturing of Alternator Pulley)

  • So far, an alternator pulley has been formed by cold forging and casting with a metal due to the necessity of its high strength. Various advantages such as the light weight, the low cost, and the high productivity can be obtained by the injection molding process using engineering plastics. Engineering plastics have an excellent performance in the characteristics off strength vs. weight, a good forming ability and a productivity. The object of this study is to develop an alternator pulley, which has been made with a metal, using the injection molding process based on Taguchi methods. A sink mark is considered as a characteristic parameter to improve the quality. The FEM Simulation CAE tool, Moldflow, is used for the analysis of injection molding process.

  • In this paper, the conceptual design and FE analysis results of salient pole type alternator under no load condition are described. The designed alternator's rating is 180kW, 3-phase, 4pole, 380/220V, 0.8pf, 60Hz. The conceptual design is described by the process of designing the armature, field, and obtaining some of equivalent circuit parameters. The comparison of FE analysis to the designed results of alternator's output voltage value shows a good agreement.
