The automobile industry in Korea has grown to the fifth in the world in terms of production capacity. In spite of the production growth, the marketing aspects such as distribution and customer service in the auto industry are still behind the world-class. Thus, the major purposes of this paper are as follows. The first is to analyze competitive structure of the industry and to compare distribution strategies of the major auto firms(Hyundai, Daewoo, and Kia). The second is to theoretically explain the transition from the vertical marketing system to the dealer system using transaction cost analysis. The third is to compare auto distribution channels in Korea with those in the U.S. and Japan. Finally, an optimal channel stucture in the auto industry is suggested after reviewing five alternative channel structures such as corporate-owned VMS, sales-specializing firm, multiplex system(VMS+limited dealer system), dual sales channel, and advanced dealer system. In the short-run, sales-specilizing firm was suggested as an optimal channel system to enhance customer satisfaction by integrating sales and customer service. In the long-run, advanced dealer system through regional differentiation was desirable for an optimal channel structure by organically integrating new car sales, used car sales, and after service to provide total marketing service to customers.
Mobile business noticed as a constructive alternative of e-commerce and e-business is being diversely considered as a new form or subset of e-business. In this study, mobile business is defined as a comprehensive alternative including e-business. The framework of the superset of e-business has two axes: connectivity and mobility. In addition, various cases based on the combination of the components are provided and explained. It is the main characteristic of this study that the element of off-line "mobility" is added to "connectivity" generally used while explaining e-commerce and e-business. For place (or location) is a prerequisite for the feature of mobility, we grope for why and how Location-Based Service (LBS) will take an important role in the development of new e-business models and services. As the real and full-scale beginning of IMT-2000 service and the rapid progress and diffusion of mobile communications services including wireless LAN require an immense and innovative way of thinking about e-commerce and e-business, the framework suggested in this study is considered to go far toward satisfying the new needs in this area.
Purpose: This study was to examine whether a health care model that provides comprehensive medical services based on population groups to members of the medical cooperative is applicable as a policy alternative in terms of medical use and cost. Methods: Data were derived from National Health Insurance claim data in 2019. We compared the medical volume and expenses of patients who visited social cooperative-type medical clinics with other patients, control group who visited other clinics in a local area. Results: The average number of visit days was 25.3 days in social cooperative-type medical clinics, more than 24.2 days in the control group (p=.004). However, the average medical cost per visit was KRW 46 thousand in social cooperative-type medical clinics, which was significantly lower than KRW 51 thousand in the control group (p<.001), and the total medical cost was also KRW 16.1 billion in social cooperative-type medical clinics and KRW 16.9 billion in the control group. Conclusion: We identified that a population-based health care model might change patients' behaviors to health care services and decrease total medical cost. Further population based experiment is needed to develop alternative healthcare model.
The Highway Capacity Manual specifies procedures for evaluating intersection performance in terms of delay per vehicle. What is lacking in the current methodology is a comparable quantitative procedure for ass~ssing the safety-based level of service provided to motorists. The objective of the research described herein was to develop a computational procedure for evaluating the safety-based level of service of signalized intersections based on the relative hazard of alternative intersection designs and signal timing plans. Conflict opportunity models were developed for those crossing, diverging, and stopping maneuvers which are associated with left-turn and rear-end accidents. Safety¬based level-of-service criteria were then developed based on the distribution of conflict opportunities computed from the developed models. A case study evaluation of the level of service analysis methodology revealed that the developed safety-based criteria were not as sensitive to changes in prevailing traffic, roadway, and signal timing conditions as the traditional delay-based measure. However, the methodology did permit a quantitative assessment of the trade-off between delay reduction and safety improvement. The Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) specifies procedures for evaluating intersection performance in terms of a wide variety of prevailing conditions such as traffic composition, intersection geometry, traffic volumes, and signal timing (1). At the present time, however, performance is only measured in terms of delay per vehicle. This is a parameter which is widely accepted as a meaningful and useful indicator of the efficiency with which an intersection is serving traffic needs. What is lacking in the current methodology is a comparable quantitative procedure for assessing the safety-based level of service provided to motorists. For example, it is well¬known that the change from permissive to protected left-turn phasing can reduce left-turn accident frequency. However, the HCM only permits a quantitative assessment of the impact of this alternative phasing arrangement on vehicle delay. It is left to the engineer or planner to subjectively judge the level of safety benefits, and to evaluate the trade-off between the efficiency and safety consequences of the alternative phasing plans. Numerous examples of other geometric design and signal timing improvements could also be given. At present, the principal methods available to the practitioner for evaluating the relative safety at signalized intersections are: a) the application of engineering judgement, b) accident analyses, and c) traffic conflicts analysis. Reliance on engineering judgement has obvious limitations, especially when placed in the context of the elaborate HCM procedures for calculating delay. Accident analyses generally require some type of before-after comparison, either for the case study intersection or for a large set of similar intersections. In e.ither situation, there are problems associated with compensating for regression-to-the-mean phenomena (2), as well as obtaining an adequate sample size. Research has also pointed to potential bias caused by the way in which exposure to accidents is measured (3, 4). Because of the problems associated with traditional accident analyses, some have promoted the use of tqe traffic conflicts technique (5). However, this procedure also has shortcomings in that it.requires extensive field data collection and trained observers to identify the different types of conflicts occurring in the field. The objective of the research described herein was to develop a computational procedure for evaluating the safety-based level of service of signalized intersections that would be compatible and consistent with that presently found in the HCM for evaluating efficiency-based level of service as measured by delay per vehicle (6). The intent was not to develop a new set of accident prediction models, but to design a methodology to quantitatively predict the relative hazard of alternative intersection designs and signal timing plans.
In this era of intense competition, TQM has become the key program in organizations as they strive for a competitive advantage. It has been applied to manufacturing and service sector since BNQA model was established in 1987. TQM literature for manufacturing sector abounds with empirical studies on the critical dimensions of TQM, but there is few empirical studies on the TQM evaluation for service sector. In this paper, two methodologies are applied to evaluate the TQM activities of service companies comparatively One of them is the traditional scoring system(TSS) by analytic hierarchy process(AHP). The other is the efficiency measuring system(EMS) by data envelopment analysis(DEA). DEA outperformed other alternative methods to measure the efficiency and it can be applied to evaluate the TQM activities. The objective of this paper is to evaluate TQM activities of domestic service companies by applying TAE(Total quality management Activities Evaluation) model to them. The result of this study is that TSS scores are not significantly correlated with EMS scores. It means that service organizations must not only make efforts to get the higher scores in terms of TSS but also take necessary steps to enhance their efficiencies.
Objectives Recently, the demand for complementary & alternative and personalized medical service has increased in the world. The purpose of this study was to predict the future market size of constitutional medical service in Korea through past surveyed studies Methods The portal sites of OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KISS, Koreamed, were used to select the researches related with constitutional medical service market. Total 1,477 papers were identified and 43 of them were fully reviewed. Finally, three of them picked up. Two specialists joined this review. Results and Conclusion The rate of constitutional medical service market among Korean medical service market was 23.2% in 2004 survey, 26.6% in 2007, and 23.5% in 2010. The number of Korean medical clinics and hospital was assumed 17,118 in 2020. The market size of Korean medicine was predicted 698,929 ten million won and among them, the scale of constitutional market size was 181,171 ten million won which meaned 25.9% proportion of Korean medical market size. Conclusion Constitutional medical market seems to be developed faster than Korean medical market in future.
To provide autonomous and dynamic services for users in a ubiquitous environment where heterogeneity, mobility and variability are main characteristics, an efficient service description/structuring mechanism and a service composition method are essential. Service composition can consider context in real-time and compose appropriate services. In this research, we propose a mechanism for extracting services from a specific domain and structuring them into hierarchical service ontology. Each service is described using the proposed service specification. Based on this service ontology, users can represent their goals using various abstraction levels of services, and then our service overloading method enables to invoke the most appropriate service at the execution time. Moreover, we present a method which can discovery an alternative service by referencing the service ontology, when the requested service is not available. The experimental result shows that our service ontology could improve the success probability of users' goals and reduce service binding time compare to using just an unstructured list of services.
In large-scale hospitals, the department of biomedical engineering should always provide quick repair service for damaged medical devices to guarantee continuous patient treatment. However, in actual circumstances, there are so many time-consuming issues that delays device repair for weeks or even months; therefore, it is required to prepare alternative ways for quick repair service. In this study, we first mentioned about the regulation issues in Korea about the 3D printing-based medical device repair, and then introduced the results of our preliminary study that evaluated the feasibility of 3D printing-based medical device repair before real-field application. Results of the study demonstrated that, in all of the 23 cases, parts for repair that were manufactured by 3D-printing were successfully fixed and connected to the main body of the original device, and showed sufficient rigidity for protecting internal parts of the device. Considering the experimental results, medical device repair by applying 3D printing technology can be a promising alternative in cases when regular repair process is not available or takes too much time.

Collaborative and distributed engineering web services are emerging as a viable alternative to the traditional design and engineering process automation. Existing approaches have limitations in supporting long-running engineering transactions, automatic engineering process orchestration and choreography, synchronous and asynchronous conversation, and geometric abstraction for transmission and sharing. In this paper, we present a process-centric engineering web service methodology to overcome these limitations by utilizing BPEL-based (Business Process Execution Language) process templates and coordination broker-based conversation support. This paper discusses the synchronization of engineering web services which can be either peer-centric or process-centric to support long-running engineering transactions and conversation. The process orchestration and choreography broker works as a service dispatching and aggregation mediator for executing process templates, which enables the individual activity or the engineering process to dynamically select and invoke one of the alternative web services through the run-time process brokering. Further, the paper presents how to support collaboration over the running process using conversation policy.
In this paper, we checked health problems of patients who suffered from arthritis. After assessing each patients condition, in order to alleviate their sufferings, we introduced several methods of aromatherapy as a holistic approach to these health problems. Aromatherapy is used of essential oils, which are obtained from aromatic plants, can be defined as a nature-friendly complementary/alternative method, has its great merit in its each way of application. If the arthritis condition is localized, massage,compress or poultices, and hand or foot baths are most effective. Many of essential oils in the recipe have dual benefits, as anti-inflammative and analgesic agents. The Juniper and carrot seed aid in eliminating fluid and toxin accumulation in the joint and surrounding tissue. There are many different courses available and health professional should choose one that is relevant to clinical practice. Considering the future of nursing as a major contribution in the consumer-centered structure of medical health service, aromatherapy as a complementary/alternative method is expected to contribute not only to establishing more effective health service but also to resolving chronic health problems of arthritis.
