Purpose: One of the main reasons why mothers quit breast feeding is that the volume of breast milk is inadequate due to insufficiency in suckling. We believe suckling experience may be a factor affecting nipple confusion. So an alternative feeding method, namely cup, spoon, finger, or nasogastric tube feeding may be needed to prevent nipple confusion. The purpose of this study was to construct a predictive model for demand for alternative feeding education by nurses. Methods: A descriptive design with structured self-report questionnaires was used for this study. Data from 175 nurses working in hospitals in Busan were collected between April 1 and 15, 2009. Data were analyzed by decision tree method, one of the data mining techniques using SAS 9.1 and Enterprise Miner 4.3 program. Results: Of the nurses, 81.1% demanded alternative feeding education and 5 factors showed that most of them expressed intention to pay, desire to know about alternative feeding, age, and learning experience. From these results, the derived model is considered appropriative for explaining and predicting demand for alternative feeding education. Conclusion: This confirms that knowledge and compliance in alternative breast feeding for newborn babies should be correct and any inaccuracies or insufficient information should be supplemented.

현재 우리나라에는 다양한 목적과 특성을 지닌 여러 가지 형태의 대안학교가 있다. 대안학교에서의 수학교육이 일반학교의 수학교육과 같아서는 대안학교의 교육적 이념에 맞는 교육을 실시할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 학교 부적응 학생들을 대상으로 하는 대안학교에서 이루어지는 수학교육의 문제점을 교육내용 교수방법 교육환경의 세 가지 측면에서 살펴보고, 대안학교 학생들에게 적합한 수학교육의 한 방법으로 수학사를 활용한 수학교육에 대하여 알아본다.

In a recent paper, M. Balaj [B] established an alternative principle. The principle was applied to a matching theorem of Ky Fan type, an analytic alternative, a minimax inequality, and existence of solutions of a vector equilibrium theorem. Based on the first author's fixed point theorems, in the present paper, we obtain generalizations of the main result of Balaj [B] and their applications.

In this study, a design approach based on genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the manufacturing cell design problem considering alternative process plans and alternative machines. The problem is formulated as a 0-1 integer programming model which considers several manufacturing parameters, such as demand and processing time of part, machine capacity, manufacturing cell size, and the number of machines in a machine cell. A genetic algorithm is used to determine process plan for each part, part family and machine cell simultaneously.

In this paper, we attempt to analyze consumer preference for the alternative-fuel vehicles based on data from a stated preference using the conjoint analysis. Five possible fuel types (gasoline, diesel, CNG, LPG, Hybrid (electricity+gasoline)) are covered in conjoint cards. To estimate and analyze consumer preference, discrete choice model is used. Specifically, Bayesian mixed logit model is used. Based on estimating results, we discuss the business strategy and policy for the alternative fuel vehicle.

Obesity is a serious medical disorder because it can cause a myriad of health problems, such as heart disease, hypertension, and adult-onset diabetes. While conventional medical treatment for obesity has limitations, there is enormous public enthusiasm for complementary and alternative treatments of obesity. This article reviews currently commonly used complementary and alternative therapies for obesity, such as medicinal herbs, nutritional supplements and acupuncture. Beneficial effects and possible adverse effects associated with these treatment are discussed.

This study reviews (i) the (dis)advantages of two major semantic theories of focus, i.e., the Alternative Semantics (AS) and the Structured Meaning Theory (SM), and (ii) the hybrid analysis consisting of these two theories proposed by Krifka (2006). After pointing out a problem of this hibrid analysis, this study attempts to show the third alternative, i.e., the theory of identificational predication for focus can solve this problem.

시각장애인에게 대체자료는 정보접근 및 이용, 지식정보 격차해소, 사회참여 및 통합에 매우 중요한 요소이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 대체자료는 최근까지도 점자도서관 등의 자발적 노력과 자치단체의 재정지원 하에 개인의 요청이나 담당자의 판단으로 제작되고 있기 때문에 그 범위가 문학자료와 교양 취미도서로 한정되고 중복제작 될 뿐만 아니라 대체포맷 또한 매우 제한적이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내외 도서관 및 관련 단체의 대체자료 제작사례를 분석하고 시각장애인도서관과 시각장애인을 대상으로 설문조사 방식을 적용하여 대체자료 제작현황과 인식을 조사 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 대체자료 제작 및 이용 활성화를 위한 개선방안을 제시하였다.

We developed emission factors for alternative fuels used in cement industries in Korea and also estimated reduction in emissions of greenhouse gas (GHG) by the use of alternative fuels. Emission factors for GHG of waste tire, waste plastic, waste oil and RDF were estimated to be about 89, 78, 77 and 95 ton $CO_2$/TJ respectively. When compared with previous studies, most of the results showed similar trends. The calorific value estimation and elemental analysis for energy source were implemented in order to estimate the exact emission factors and the reduction of GHG emissions using alternative fuel. In the case of 'A' company, $CO_2$ emission from alternative fuels was about 4% lower than that of bituminous coal only. Also in case of company 'B', $CO_2$ emission from alternative fuels was about 1.4% lower than that of only bituminous coal. In Germany and Japan, alternative fuel is not regarded to be fuel consumption in cement industry. When applying this rule, the emission reductions were about 4.3% for company 'A' and 6.3% for company 'B'. The results of this study may be considered as a useful information for developing strategies in reducing GHG emissions.
