Background: Analysis of enrichment of $UO_2$ is important to verify the information declared by the license-holders. The redundancy methods are required to guarantee the analysis result. Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control (KINAC) used to analyze it with alpha spectrometry and consign to Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry (TIMS). This article evaluated the similarity of the results with two methods and derive correlation equation. It could be compared to the results measured by TIMS running by KBSI. Materials and Methods: There are not many certified materials for the uranium enrichment value. Therefore, 34 uranium pellets, which have the wide range of uranium enrichment from 0.21 to 4.69 wt%, were used for the experiments by the alpha spectrometry and the TIMS. Results and Discussion: The study shows there are the tendency of analyzed enrichment by each equipment. It shows uranium enrichment with alpha spectrometry evaluated 17% higher than that with TIMS on average. The regression equations were also derived in case the similarity between the two results with two methods is lower than predicted. Two experiments were designed to compare the effect of number of samples. The $R^2$ was 0.9977 with 34 pellets. It shows the equation is appropriate to predict the enrichment values by TIMS with that of alpha spectrometry. The $R^2$ was 0.9858 with four pellets for ten times. The $R^2$ decreased while the number of samples increased. The discrepancy between the lowest and highest enrichment seems to be one of the reason for it. Conclusion: KINAC expects the first equation with 34 samples is useful to predict the result with TIMS, the redundancy method, based on the alpha spectrometry. The extra samples are necessary to collect if the enrichment value analyzed by TIMS is lower than the value predicted with the equation. Further study would be followed related to the impact of the peak counts for each uranium isotopes, sample amount and number of experiments when TIMS established in KINAC by the end of 2018.

The responses of two luminescence-based biosensors were studied on various heavy metals in aqueous solutions. One was recombinant E. coli ($DH5{\alpha}$/pSB311), genetically modified luminescence-based bacteria, and the other was Vibrio fisheri used for the LumisTox system. The recombinant E. coli was marked with the lux CDABE gene from multicopy plasmid, pACYC184, originally isolated from Photorhabdus luminescens. The $DH5{\alpha}$/pSB311 had a characteristic of no organic substrate for its luminescence reaction. Among the tested heavy metals Zinc and cadmium were less toxic than copper and mercury. The recombinant E. coli was more sensitive to toxicity of heavy metals than the LumisTox. The order of toxicity of the heavy metals to the recombinant E. coli was $Hg^{2+}>Cu^{2+}>Zn^{2+}>Cd^{2+}$. In case of the LumisTox, the order of the toxicity of heavy metals was $Hg^{2+}>Cu^{2+}>Cd^{2+}>Zn^{2+}$. The genetically modified luminescence-based biosensor offers a range of sensitive, rapid, and easy to use methods for assessing the potential toxicity of heavy metals in aqueous samples.
Objectives : We evaluated the risk of fracture associated with hypotension-related adverse drug reaction caused by taking alpha blockers to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods : We used the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service database from January 1st 2005 to June 30th 2006 for this study. The male patients with BPH and who had a prescription for alpha blockers following any fractures were defined as the cases. We set the 20 day long hazard period prior to the index date and the four control periods whose lengths were same with hazard period. After 1:4 matching of the hazard and control periods, conditional logistic regression was used to calculate the odds ratios for the risk of fractures as related to the alpha blocker exposure. Results : Doxazosin and tamsulosin showed the increased risk of fractures, whereas terazosin did not. After stratification using the defined daily doses, a protective effect was shown for the patients who took terazosin at the doses lower than 0.4 DDD and the hazardous effect at the doses higher than or equal to 0.4 DDD. There was no significant difference for the risk of patients taking tamsulosin at the doses higher than 1.0 DDD but there was a statistically significant increase in the risk at the doses higher than or equal to 1.0 DDD. Conclusions : Alpha blockers for BPH may increase the risk of fracture in elderly patients who have comorbidities and take the concomitant medications. Alpha blockers need to be prescribed with caution, although some have high prostate specificity.
Flavor compounds of pentane, hexane, hexanal and total volatiles formed during $65^{\circ}C$ storage of ramyon fried in palm oil with ${\alpha}-tocopherol$, RHA, TRHQ, rosemary extract or defatted ricebran extract were determined by static headspace gas chromatography. The levels of the antioxidants used in the frying oil were 100 or 200 ppm, and an additional level of 300 ppm was employed in the case of ${\alpha}-tocopherol$${\alpha}-Tocopherol$ decelerated the formation of all the flavor compounds when used at 100 or 200 ppm, and the former was more effective than the latter. However, 300 ppm of ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ accelerated the flavor compound formation in ramyon during storage. One hundred ppm of BHA and TBHQ contributed to the reduction in flavor compound formation in the stored ramyon, whereas 200ppm level accelerated the compound formation. Rosemary extract and defatted ricebran extract lowered the flavor compound formation in ramyon when used at 100 or 200 ppm in palm oil. Their lowering effects were similar to that of ${\alpha}-tocopherol$, and superior to that of TBHQ. suggesting a possible utilization of defatted ricebran extract as a new natural antioxidant.
Seasonal variation in the proximate composition, cholesterol (CHOL) and $\alpha$-tocopherol ($\alpha$-Toc) content of 12 spices of fish muscle, which caught off Tongyeong coast of the Southern Sea (Nam-Hae) from Mar. 1995 to Feb. 1996, was studied. Lipid and moisture content showed remarkable seasonal variation and there were a negative correlation between the both (r= -0,85, p<0.001), while protein and ash content unchanged almost through the sampling period. The lipid content of anchovy, hickoryshad, black sea bream, finespotted flounder sea eel, bastard, and file fish was high in Dec. Oct. Nov. Jan. Jan. Nov, respectively, and low in the season corresponding to their spawning period. However, in case of striped mullet, yellow tail, mackerel, rock fish and red sea bream, there was no correlation between their lipid content and spawning period, and thus these fishes fore considered to be affected more by water temperature and the content of their diet. CHOL content increased In :he season containing a high level of lipid, whereas $\alpha$-Toc content unchanged almost through the sampling period.
Objectives Sensory gating dysfunctions in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have been investigated through two similar methods ; P50 suppression and prepulse inhibition paradigms. However, recent studies have demonstrated that the two measures are not correlated but rather constitute as distinct neural processes. Recent studies adopting spectral frequency analysis suggest that P50 suppression reflects the interaction between gamma and other frequency bands. The aim of the present study is to investigate which frequency component shows more significant interaction with gamma band. Methods A total of 108 mood disorder patients and 36 normal subjects were included in the study. The P50 responses to conditioning and test stimuli with an intra-pair interval of 500 msec were measured in the study population. According to P50 ratio (amplitude to the test stimulus/amplitude to the conditioning stimulus), the subjects with P50 ratio less than 0.2 were defined as suppressed group (SG) ; non-suppressed group (NSG) consisted of P50 ratio more than 0.8. Thirty-five and 25 subjects were included in SG and NSG, respectively. Point-to-point correlation coefficients (PPCCs) of both groups were calculated between two time-windows : the first window (S1) was defined as the time-window of one hundred millisecond after the conditioning auditory stimulus and the second window (S2) was defined as the time-window of 100 msec after the test auditory stimulus. Spectral frequency analysis was performed to investigate which frequency band results in the difference of PPCC between SG and NSG. Results Significant reduction of PPCC between S1 and S2 was observed in the SG (Pearson's r = 0.24), compared to PPCC of the NSG (r = 0.58, p < 0.05). In spectral frequency analysis, gamma band showed "phase-reset" and similar responses after the two auditory stimuli in suppressed and non-suppressed group. However in the case of alpha band, comparison showed significantly low PPCC in SG (r = -0.14) compared to NSG (r = 0.36, p < 0.05). This may be reflecting "phase-out" of alpha band against gamma band at approximately 50 msecs after the test stimulus in the SG. Conclusions Our study suggests that normal P50 suppression is caused by phase-out of alpha band against gamma band after the second auditory stimulus. Thus it is demonstrated that normal sensory gating process is constituted with attenuated alpha power, superimposed on consistent gamma response. Implications of preserved gamma and decreased alpha band in sensory gating function are discussed.
The effect of siloxane oligomer content on thermal stability and internal stress of DGEBA epoxy resin was investigated. Siloxane-epoxy polymers having terminal epoxy group were prepared by reaction of siloxane-DDM prepolymer with DGEBA epoxy resin. Thermal stability was studied in terms of the initial decomposition temperature(IDT), temperature of maximum rate of weight loss($T_{max}$), integral procedural decomposition temperature(IPDT), and decomposition activation energy($E_t$) using TGA data. The thermal stability increased with increasing the siloxane oligomer content and showed a maximum value in the case of 5 wt% siloxane oligomer content in the blend system. While, the coefficient of thermal expansion(${\alpha}_r$) and the flexural modulus($E_r$) allowed us to study internal stress of the blend system. As the content of siloxane oligomer increases, the internal stress systematically decreases as decreasing both ${\alpha}_r$ and $E_r$.

This study was carried out to investigate the potential promise of Chamaecyparis obtusa oil as a natural antioxidant. C. obtusa oil and its fractions were subjected to screening for their antioxidant activities by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method and ammonium thiocyanate method. In the first case, $IC_{50}$ value of the C. obtusa oil was determined as $40{\mu}{\ell}/m{\ell}$. At $0.5{\mu}{\ell}/m{\ell}$ concentration level, free radical scavenging effect of fraction G determined as 66.94% was the highest among the fractions of C. obtusa oil. In the ammonium thiocyanate method, essential oil of C. obtusa and its fraction C, D, and E showed activities of 72.0%, 71.2%, 71.9% and 71.1%, respectively. Fraction G, most active fraction, was mainly consisted of $\alpha$-terpineol, elemol, widdrol and $\alpha$-cadinol.
Detention pond has an important role in peak flow reduction to mitigate flood damage. Design of detention pond is accomplished through the preliminary stage, and design stage in general. New development projects produce increased peak flow and flow amounts. In this case it is necessary to design the detention pond easily and simply. A simplified design method of the detention pond is suggested in this study. Used design variables are peak flow ratio(${\alpha}$) and storage ratio($S_r$). ${\alpha}$ is the peak flow ratio of before and after development of the basin. $S_r$ is a ratio of storage volume to total runoff volume. Applicability of the proposed method was also proved. The simple procedure of detention pond design is proposed in this study.

Experimental studies are conducted to investigate the Flow-Induced Vibration mechanism for cantilever plate model with the angle of attack (.alpha.=10.deg., 20.deg., 30.deg.). Research is divided into two parts. First, the flow fields around two dimensional flat plate model are investigated using LDV system. Second, the vortex shedding frequency and response spectra of cantilever plate are obtained experimentally using gap sensor and hot wire anemometer. Finite element method program was used in order to predict the flow field and pressure field around thin flat plate. And some predicted results were compared with the experimental data. The aspect ration of test model is d/t=25 (d; width, t; thickness). From the measurement of the flow field it was found that in the case of small inclined (.alpha.=10.deg., 20.deg.) relatively, the separated boundary layer at sharp leading edge developed smoothly downstream. With increasing the angle of attack of the plate, stagnation region was appeared on the back side of the plate and separated boundary layer was extended downstream. These trends are a good agreement with the computational results. It was found by analysis of response spectra of cantilever plate that the influences of vortex shedding frequency were important at the large of attack (.alpha.=30.deg.), and two peak values appear in entire test model at 24Hz, 150Hz.
