The present study is to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete having non cement that mainly causes carbon emission. This study aims to explore eco-friendly concrete technology capable of reducing the amount of carbon emission due to the use of normal cement by substituting it with non cement porous concrete to which alkali-activator and blast-furnace slag powder are impregnated. As experimental variables, 5 %, 6 %, 7 %, 8 %, 9 % and 10 % of alkali-activator were substituted as binders and applied. Testing evaluated in this study were pH value, void ratio, compressive strength and residual compressive strength shown after being immersed in $H_2SO_4$ solution and $Na_2SO_4$ solution. The test results were compared with those tested with the use of porous concrete to which 400 $kg/m^3$ of unit cement amount was applied as binder. In consequence, it was concluded that; as for pH value, it was decreased than was the case in which cement was used, but increased with the more the use of alkali activator; as for void ratio and compressive strength, the mix proportion in which 9 % and 10 % of alkali activator were applied in terms of substitution ratio showed the result similar to the mixture in which 400 $kg/m^3$ of unit cement ratio was applied; and, as for residual compressive strength in the case of being immersed in $H_2SO_4$ solution and $Na_2SO_4$ solution, the compressive strength was increased, thus leading to improved chemical resistance.
Effect of alkali $SO_3$ and $C_2S$ content and cooling condition of clinker on the formation of unstable alkali and cooling condition of clinker on the formation of unstable alkali was investigated. As a result alkali and $SO_3$ content of clinker were the main factors of unstable alkali formation and equation (7) in which the two factors were the variables showed a good agreement with the observed results. Water soluble alkali content of sulphate was decreased with increase of $C_2S$ content of clinker resulted by the increase of solid solution rate of alkali to clinker minerals. But change of unsatble alkali content accordint to the increase of $C_2S$ content was slight. A increasing tendency of ignition loss of clinker with increase of unstable alkali content was found.
The alkali-activation reaction of two types of typical kaolin calcined at various lower temperatures was investigated at room temperature and at elevated temperatures. For the assessment of the reactivity, the temperature increase and the setting time of pastes prepared with calcined kaolin and sodium/potassium hydroxide solution were measured. Unlike raw kaolin, calcined kaolin samples prepared at various temperature showed an alkali-activation reaction according to the different aspects of the changes in the mineral phases. The reactivity with alkaline solutions was exceedingly activated in the samples calcined at $600-650^{\circ}C$, but the reactivity gradually decreased as the temperature increased in a higher temperature range, most likely due to the changes in the crystal structure of the dehydrated kaolin. The activation effect of the calcination treatment was achieved at reaction temperatures that exceeded $60^{\circ}C$ and was enhanced as the temperature increased. The reactivity of the calcined kaolin with an alkaline solution was more enhanced with the solution of a higher concentration and with a solution prepared from sodium hydroxide rather than potassium hydroxide.
The setting time of alkali activated slag cement tends to be much faster than ordinary Portland cement, and its compressive strength had been higher from the 1 day but became lower than that of the cement on the 28 days. According to the results of the surface observation, weight loss, compressed strength, and erosion depth tests on the sulphuric acid solution. It has been drawn that alkali activated slag cement has a higher sulphate resistance than ordinary Portland cement, and in particular, the alkali activated slag cement added 5 wt% alumina cement has little deterioration on the sulphuric acid solution. The reason why the alkali activated slag cement has higher sulphate resistance than other hardened cement pastes is that it has no $Ca(OH)_2$ reactive to sulphate ion, and there is little $CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$ production causing volume expansion, unlike other pastes. And it is supposed that $Al(OH)_3$ hydrates with high sulphate resistance, which is produced by adding the alumina cement increases the sulfate resistance.
Saw damage of crystalline silicon wafer is unavoidable factor. Usually, alkali treatment for removing the damage has been carried out as the saw damage removal (SDR) process for priming the alkali texture. It usually takes lots of time and energy to remove the sawed damages for solar grade crystalline silicon wafers We implemented two different mixed acidic solution treatments to obtain the improved surface structure of silicon wafer without much sacrifice of the silicon wafer thickness. At the first step, the silicon wafer was dipped into the mixed acidic solution of $HF:HNO_3$=1:2 ration for polished surface and at the second step, it was dipped into the diluted mixed acidic solution of $HF:HNO_3:H_2O$=7:3:10 ratio for porous structure. This double treatment to the silicon wafer brought lower reflectance (25% to 6%) and longer carrier lifetime ($0.15\;{\mu}s$ to $0.39\;{\mu}s$) comparing to the bare poly-crystalline silicon wafer. With optimizing the concentration ratio and the dilution ratio, we can not only effectively substitute the time consuming process of SDR to some extent but also skip plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process. Moreover, to conduct alkali texture for pyramidal structure on silicon wafer surface, we can use only nitric acid rich solution of the mixed acidic solution treatment instead of implementing SDR.
Recently, the attraction for water-based ink is increasing, Because Solvent ink, based on organic solvent, cause bad effect on environment and rise the cost. Instead of organic solvent that cause environment pollution as well as cost-rise by rise of petroleum price, Binder based on alkali-soluble resin is popular and studied by many other country. However, in domestic, research and development for alkali-soluble resin is not like, because of lack of understanding environmental pollution and safety, therefor alkali-soluble resin development and research for the properties of the water-based ink used by alkali-soluble resin is not study very well. In this paper, we studied dispersion of carbon black in acrylic resin solution and the properties of water-based ink used by carbon black and acrylic binder.
LDHs(layered double hydroxides) are of use adsorbent to remove heavy metals, micro-organic pollutants as well as high concentration of phosphorus from wastewater to low concentration of surface water without pH adjustments. This study examined the generation condition of LDHs saturated with phosphorus. Less than 20% regeneration rate was obtained in the absence of alkali and regeneration solution. After the desorption of LDHs with several conditions of acid and alkali solution, more than 60% of regeneration rate could be expected in the case of using $MgCl_2$ as regeneration solution.
The precipitation of calcium phosphate on implant surface has been known to accelerate osseointegration and to enhance osseous adaptation. The present study was performed to examine whether the precipitation of calcium phosphate on Ti-6Al-4V alloy could be affected by the immersion in NaOH solution and heat treatment. Ti-6Al-4V alloy plates of $15{\times}3.5{\times}1mm$ in dimension were polished sequentially from #240 to #2,000 emery paper and one surface of each specimen was additionally polished with $0.1{\mu}m$ alumina paste. Polished specimens were soaked in various concentrations of NaOH solution(0.1, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0, 7.0, 10.0 M) at $60^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours for alkali treatment, and 5.0 M NaOH treated specimens were heated for 1 hour at each temperature of 400, 500, 600, 700, $800^{\circ}C$. After the alkali and heat treatments, specimens were soaked in the Hank's solution with pH 7.4 at $36.5^{\circ}C$ for 30days.The surface ingredient change of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was evaluated by thin-film X-ray diffractometer(TF-XRD) and the surface microstructure was observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM), and the elements of surface were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The results were obtained as follows ; 1. The precipitation of calcium phosphate on Ti-6Al-4V alloy was accelerated by the immersion in NaOH solution and heat treatment. 2. In Alkali treatment for the precipitation of calcium phosphate on Ti-6Al-4V alloy, the optimal concentration of NaOH solution was 5.0 M. 3. In heat treatment after alkali treatment in 5.0 M NaOH solution, the crystal formation on alloy surface was enhanced by increasing temperature. In heat treated alloys at $600^{\circ}C$, latticed structure and prominences of calcium phosphate layer were most dense. On heat treated alloy surface at the higher temperature(${\geq}700^{\circ}C$), main crystal form was titanium oxide rather than apatite. The above results suggested that the precipitation of calcium phosphate on the surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloy could be induced by alkali treatment in 5.0 M-NaOH solution and by heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$.
Solution-processed metal-alloy oxides such as indium zinc oxide (IZO), indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) has been extensively researched due to their high electron mobility, environmental stability, optical transparency, and solution-processibility. In spite of their excellent material properties, however, there remains a challenging problem for utilizing IZO or IGZO in electronic devices: the supply shortage of indium (In). The cost of indium is high, what is more, indium is becoming more expensive and scarce and thus strategically important. Therefore, developing an alternative route to improve carrier mobility of solution-processable ZnO is critical and essential. Here, we introduce a simple route to achieve high-performance and low-temperature solution-processed ZnO thin film transistors (TFTs) by employing alkali-metal doping such as Li, Na, K or Rb. Li-doped ZnO TFTs exhibited excellent device performance with a field-effect mobility of $7.3cm^2{\cdot}V-1{\cdot}s-1$ and an on/off current ratio of more than 107. Also, in case of higher drain voltage operation (VD=60V), the field effect mobility increased up to $11.45cm^2{\cdot}V-1{\cdot}s-1$. These all alkali metal doped ZnO TFTs were fabricated at maximum process temperature as low as $300^{\circ}C$. Moreover, low-voltage operating ZnO TFTs was fabricated with the ion gel gate dielectrics. The ultra high capacitance of the ion gel gate dielectrics allowed high on-current operation at low voltage. These devices also showed excellent operational stability.
