In this paper, I summarized the history and current state of korean aircraft industry. The Korean aircraft industry, beginning from maintenance business after Korean War, has been industrialized from 1976. From that time, aircraft industry in Korea has been steadily developed through big scale national projects usually military related. The current relationship of aircraft industry, government projects, policies in Korea is also summarized in this paper. By the big scale military projects, like KTX, KFP, KHA, etc., Korean aircraft industry has accumulated and developed essential technologies of the aircraft industry, and recently tries to develop even more by participating in the world civil aircraft market, which asks Korea of the harmonious effort of government, industry, and R&D sector. Considering that aircraft industry is not the optional but the essential for the national development in 21st century, the more harmonious and intensive effort of Korean aircraft industry will be absolutely needed.
Purpose - This research explores the impacts of third-party logistics (3PLs) within the aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore the role of collaborative relationships for improving outsourcing. Globalization and time based competition have changed business environments and challenged the conventional management strategies that are related to core competencies and operational models. Organizations are forced to devise innovative practices in which logistics outsourcing to 3PLs offers significant advantages. Research design, data, and methodology - This case study was conducted within a leading global aircraft MRO organization whose reach spans across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas. The methods used face to face semi-structured interviews, validated through further focus group discussions. Results - These findings highlight the effectiveness of collaborative relationships on their role to improve outsourcing and also demonstrated that MROs gain several advantages from 3PL arrangements. However, any gaps in outsourcing management elevates potential risks to organizations as well, which could result in reputational, operational and financial losses. Conclusions - Although generalizability is not possible due to the case study approach, generality suggests that in order to reduce reputational, operational and financial risks, enhanced collaboration with 3PLs is recommended to optimize outsourcing arrangements.
The aircraft noise analysis area in this study is a training airfield where various kinds of aircraft are operated. It is difficult to identify the noise analysis as a real measurement in a training airfield. In order to overcome these practical limitations and to establish appropriate noise countermeasures, a noise map is prepared using the Integrated Noise Model Version 7.0 of the aircraft noise prediction program used by the FAA. The noise of C90GT aircraft was measured while flying the takeoff route, landing route, and long route. We want to identify areas where noise damage is more than 70 WECPNL. No area exceeding the legal standard of 70 WECPNL was found in all routes.

This study examines the history of Korean aviation industry and presents the investment strategy based on the evidence and the 4th industrial revolution. Looking at the evolution of the Korean aviation industry and its technological development will be a great help to support industrial and technological innovation in the future. The modern aviation industry is divided into stages of development, focusing on maintenance of equipment introduced in advanced countries, localization through license assembly, production of products based on technology, and international joint development. The development of aeronautics technology has been progressing towards a general improvement of economic efficiency, aircraft safety efficiency through environmental-friendliness, unmanned operation, and downsizing. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has secured key technologies through development of several aircrafts such as Experimental Aircraft Kachi, EXPO Unmanned Airship, Twin-engine Composite Aircraft, Canard Aircraft, Multi-Purpose Stratosphere unmanned-airship, Medium Aerostats, Smart UAV, Surion, EAV-2H, KC-100, and OPV. The development strategy is discussed at the level of the evidence-based investment strategy that is currently being discussed, and so the investment priorities in aircraft is high. Current drone usage and development direction are not only producing parts using 3D printer, but also autonomous flight, communication (IoT, 5G), information processing (big data, machine learning). Therefore, the aviation industry is expected to lead the fourth industrial revolution.

In this paper, the structure and the characteristics of the Fly-By-Wire system applied to the civil aircraft was described. The development trend of the redundant method of the flight control system, data communication system, control surface actuation system and the control laws implemented by the Fly-By-Wire system of the civil aircraft are discussed. The Fly-By-Wire system was first applied to the fighter and its inherent advantages lead to the advent of the Fly-By-Wire civil aircraft. Recently even the small jet aircraft shows the trend of adopting the Fly-By-Wire system. In the future, most of the aircraft are expected to be the Fly-By-Wire type.

This paper forces on the analysis of the overall outcome regarding Performance Based Logistics(PBL) application for Air Weapon System. We used data from domestically developed aircraft such as KT/A-1 and T-50 as well as data from foreign F-15K aircraft and F100 Engine to analyze the current ROKAF PBL application results. Furthermore, this paper thus suggests various techniques to maximize the outcome of user-based PBL performance such as clarifying the responsibility between customer and the company, developing standardized PBL performance index under TLCSM, PBL related maintenance capacity development, wartime PBL implementation process of domestic/foreign companies and many other schemes based on the analyzed data.
Reliability Centered Maintenance(RCM) was initially developed for the commercial aviation industry in the late 1960s and now is equally applicable to a variety of equipment other than aircraft. RCM is a method for establishing a preventive maintenance program which will efficiently and effectively allow the achivement of the the required safety and availability levels of equipment and structures. RCM provides for the use of a decision logic tree to identify applicable and effective preventive maintenance requirements for equipment and structures according to the safety, maintenance requirements for equipment and structures according to the safety, operational and economic consequences of identifiable failures, and the degradation mechanism, reponsible for the those failures. The end result of working through the decision logic is a judgement as to the necessity of performing a maintenance task. In this paper, we provide guiding principles based on IEC 60300-3-11 for RCM analysis methods and operational method of structure and equipment.

Ten AOC(Air Operation Certificate) holders certified by MOLIT of Korea are operating their own maintenance training program. Though the maintenance training program is approved by the same authority, the contents of the program are different even in the mandatory training courses among AOC holders. The survey interview showed that the maintenance training in mandatory training should have the same contents and requirements. Throughout the survey and focus group discussion, this paper suggests the list and contents of the initial mandatory training and the list, contents and interval for the recurrent mandatory training. This paper also suggests how to implement the on-line training program for recurrent mandatory training to keep the quality of the airline maintenance training program.
