The Study of passenger Car Design of korean High Speed Train (한국형 고속전철 객차 개발 연구)

  • This study was carried out about the system engineering, the design, and Mock-up for the development of passenger car of Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The design was studied to carbody section & lay out, ring, fitting, carbody, electrical system based on Korean-TGV. The design of aluminium alloy carbody which was enabled to reduce the weight of carbody structure and was studied with construction of air-tightness. Air pressure controlled system provided to comfort passenger due to a reduction of difference pressure between inside and outside of passenger room on running of the tunnel. The Interior design was performed in order to satisfy high speed and comfort to study by the modern design. The electrical system was designed two parts of logic and network for high reliability of train.

Numerical Study on Human Thermal Comfort in a Passenger Train (기차 승객의 온열 쾌적성에 관한 수치해석)

  • This paper presents computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis on passenger thermal comfort in a train. Human thermal comfort in vehicles depends mainly on air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air velocity, humidity, and direct solar flux, as well as the level of activity and thermal properties of clothing and seat. The velocity and temperature distribution in a train with and without passengers are reported. The thermal comfort in a passenger train are also presented based on PMV and PPD indices with 16 segments of the human body.

Forecast and Review of International Airline demand in Korea (한국의 국제선 항공수요 예측과 검토)

  • In the past 30 years, our aviation demand has been growing continuously. As such, the importance of the demand forecasting field is increasing. In this study, the factors influencing Korea's international air demand were selected, and the international air demand was analyzed, forecasted and reviewed through OLS multiple regression analysis. As a result, passenger demand was affected by GDP per capita, oil price and exchange rate, while cargo demand was affected by GDP per capita and private consumption growth rate. In particular, passenger demand was analyzed to be sensitive to temporary external shocks, and cargo demand was more affected by economic variables than temporary external shocks. Demand forecasting, OLS multiple regression analysis, passenger demand, cargo demand, transient external shocks, economic variables.

On the Drag Reduction of a Passenger Ship with Air Cavity

  • It is known that lubrication effect of an air cavity can reduced a drag of a ship. The present study intends to utilize the phenomena for the drag reduction of a passenger ship now operating in a lake. A scaled model of the model when air cavities are formed under the bottom of the model. Model experiments have been performed to determine adequate air supply rates, proper shapes and locations of air supply nozzles. It is shown that energy saving of mere than 10% can be achieved at the design speed of the ship even after excluding additional power consumed for air supplying. Multiple air supply nozzles, if allocated properly, are more effective than single one in resistance reduction of the ship.

  • Flows inside a passenger compartment of a 1/5 scale model vehicle have been simulated by using a general purpose FVM code, TURBO-3D. Three HVAC modes of heating, air-conditioning, and defrosting are simulated by defining three different inlets. Comparisons are made with the published experimental and computational results, giving a good agreement. A method of predicting the defrosting contours on the wind shield is also proposed in the present study, which enables design modifications in design stages.

  • The Montreal Convention markedly changed the rules governing the international carriage by air of passenger, baggage and cargo. The introduction of a considerable number of modernized major elements including electric ticketing system, the unlimited passenger liability regime and a supplementary (fifth) jurisdiction should help to remove aged scheme that now exists in the Warsaw Convention and other related instruments. The key issue of the electric ticketing system recognized by the Convention IS how to describe reasonably and adequately the terms of written notices, in the light of the principle of consumer protection. Regarding liability regime for passengers, an unlimited passenger liability regime is realized. The carrier, in the first tier, is subject to a strict liability regime of up to 100,000 SDRs, and in the second tire, a regime of presumed fault liability without numerical liability limits. To add to the present four fora, the fifth forum is permitted. Regarding damage resulting the death or injury of a passenger, an action for damages may also be brought in its home territory with the considerably qualified narrow requirements. A strange deviation from the well-established "Procedure for Approval of Draft Convention" carried out by the Legal Committee left a considerable number of unrefined and incomplete passages. In the near future, their modification should be required.

A Study on the Temperature Variation Characteristics of Electric Car Depending on Passenger Number (승객 수에 따른 전동차 객실공간의 온도변화 특성 연구)

  • A Study has been conducted on the characteristics of temperature variation depending on passenger number that is measured in Bundang Line(From Sunleng To Bojong). As a basic study, the air quality of passenger room for the electric rail car is evaluated. Although ISO7730 recommends that the height of measuring points for the heat environment is to set at 0.1m, 0.6m, 1.1m and 1.7m respectively, temperature are measured at two points at 1.1m and 1.7m because of the difficulty to measure temperature of 0.1m height in rush hour. We compared the results of temperature variations between two stations in rush hour(07:56-08:41). In general, the capacity of a passenger car is designed for 160 persons, but over 280 persons often board on electric rail in rush hour. The temperature of room is adjusted from $22^{\circ}C$ to $24^{\circ}C$, but it is measured from $26^{\circ}C$ to $28^{\circ}C$ on average. Therefore, it shows that there are difference between the set temperature and measured one. This article suggests the ways of the time adjusting and air-conditioning to satisfy customer's demand and the guide line to design the optimum capacity of air-conditioner of the new electric rail car which will be introduced in the near future.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the cooling performances of the electrical air-conditioning system using electric driven scroll compressor for zero emission passenger vehicles. This air conditioner with air source was used R-134a as a refrigerant and installed in a real zero emission passenger vehicle for tests under various driving conditions. The cooling performance of the electrical air conditioner was affected by driving velocities and conditions of the tested vehicle. The condensing rate of the condenser during driving is better than that of the idle condition. The average cool down temperature in the cabin room decreased on average $5.2^{\circ}C$ with the increase of the outdoor temperature from $20.0^{\circ}C$ to $30.0^{\circ}C$. In addition, the cooling performances were sufficient for cooling loads of the tested passenger car under tested conditions.

Air Quality and PM10 Source Analysis on the Railway Vehicles (철도차량에서의 공기질 현황 및 PM10 오염원 분석)

  • Nowadays, concerns have much more growing regarding indoor air quality (IAQ) on the public transportation including railway vehicles. Last year Korea Ministry of Environment (ME) set new guideline for public transportation. In this study several factors were analyzed which may affect comfortableness of railway passenger cabin, and we monitored IAQ parameters (PM10, CO, $CO_2$, VOCs, temperature and humidity) to investigate the present pollution in passenger cabin. In general, the railway air quality was satisfactory. The PM10 and $CO_2$ level on all passenger cabin were below the new guideline level 1 for PM10 $(200{\mu}g/m^3)\;and\;CO_2(2,000ppm)$. Clustering method was carried out to classify the air polluting pattern of the cabin. As a result, the pollutants could be classified to 4 clusters and the origin of pollution is soil, diesel exhaust gas, abrasion of rail and plume.

The development of Air-cleaner with Roll Filter inside railroad passenger car (롤필터를 장착한 객차용공기청정장치 개발)

  • The indoor air quality guideline of public transportation means was prepared recently. therefore we consider a countermeasure for the indoor air quality improvement of public transportation means. In this work, air-cleaner with roll filter system which developed alternative of indoor air quality guideline. The develpoed roll filter system is two function. the first function harmoniously circulated to heating and cooling air through HVAC system and secondary function removed PM(particluatie matters) which re-scatting to passenger's movement and suppled from outdoor air. Filter media of roll filter system select optimum electret mesh filter out of many filter media. Selected filter media was performanced tests of pressure drop, collection efficiency and dust holding capacity. Finally developed roll filter system was performanced bench test.
