하이브리드 제상 방식을 적용한 냉장고용 핀-관 열교환기의 제상 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of the Hybrid Defrost Process in the Fin-Tube Evaporators of Refrigerators)

  • The hybrid defrost process combined with hot-gas bypass defrost and electric heater defrost was experimentally evaluated about its defrost performance in the fin-tube evaporators of household refrigerators. Also the hybrid defrost process was compared with only electric heater defrost process. The defrost efficiency of the hybrid defrost process was shown two times higher than electric heater defrost process. The defrost time of the hybrid defrost process was shorten about 10%~50% than electric heater defrost process. Thermal shock after defrost process was decreased about 50% for the case of the hybrid defrost. It was found that energy consumption ratio of defrost process was reduced up to 7.4% compared with 22.4% of electric heater defrost at the condition of $25^{\circ}C$ ambient temperature.

  • Recently, the markets of the air conditioner are enlarging. The market size will reach 2.0 billion won in 2000. Electric heat pumps have been utilized as main residential air conditioners. especially in Korea. They cause a surge up electric power demand during summer. Moreover, the use of HCFCs and HFCs causes serious problem to the global environment such as global warming and ozone layer destruction. Absorption chiller and heater could solve such problems. It was built and tested for analyzing the performance of the generator for absorption chiller and heater. Experiment was done with a high temperature generator, a low temperature generator, heat exchangers, a condenser and a solution tank. It was tested that the double effect series flow cycle with two kinds of solution cycle. Solution cycle B showed better than solution cycle A. Two kinds of heat exchanger were used, where one's heat transfer area is bigger than the other. Bigger one increased a little performance of absorption chiller and heater. But it was not economical. From this study, we got that the coefficient of performance(COP) is 0.82 and the capacity is 7.24 kW for an absorption chiller and heater.

흡열판에 돌출형 삼각 개구부가 설치된 가정용 태양열 공기가열기의 열성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Thermal Performance of a Domestic Solar Air Heater with Protruding Triangular Openings on the Absorber Plate)

  • A solar air heater was designed for supplementary domestic heating. The absorber plate had a series of protruding notches which had triangular openings on the front surface of the absorber plate to direct partial air flow to the rear surface and to enhance the convective heat transfer to the flowing air. The height of the opening as well as the opening configuration was determined by preceding numerical simulations. The experimental model had an absorber plate of 0.78-m width and 1.0-m length which was coated with black paint. The air temperature increased as much as $18^{\circ}C$ for $90-m^3/h$ flow rate when the absorber plate was inclined by $45^{\circ}$ for a clear-day solar irradiation of about $906W/m^2$. The collector efficiency ranged from 69 to 74%. Considering the simplicity of the structure and low manufacturing cost, the solar air heater might have competence as an auxiliary heating device for domestic use. On-site experimental results are presented with discussion for various solar irradiations and air flow conditions.

  • It is essential to reduce the amount of fossil fuel because facing with the natural problem such as a global warming. To achieve this goal, many of interests in the use of renewable energy is growing. Especially, as one of these renewable energy systems, a solar air heater invention has been conducted for enhancing the efficiency of solar air heater. According to this trend, scale-down sized experiment apparatus was constructed and performed for searching a proper fin and confirming the heat transfer performance by fin shape on constant heat condition to enhance efficiency of solar air heater. In this experiment, heat gain, convection heat transfer coefficient, number of transfer units, Nusselt number, Reynold's number, friction factor, performance factor were investigated in order to evaluate the thermal characteristics based on the real data obtained. By comparison with the each fin performance, a zigzag shape keeping a right angle to the plate had the highest value among them.

스택 폐열을 이용한 연료전지 자동차용 열펌프 시스템의 성능 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance Characteristics of a Heat Pump System using Stack Wast Heat in Fuel Cell Vehicles)

  • This study was conducted to develop a heating system for a fuel cell-driven electric vehicle. The system consists of a compressor, an expansion device and three heat exchangers. A conventional air source heat exchanger is used as primary heat exchanger of the system, and an additional water source heat exchanger is used as a pre-heater to supply heat to the upstream air of the primary heat exchanger. On the other hand, the third heat exchanger consists of a water-to-refrigerant heat exchanger. The heat source of the pre-heater and the water-refrigerant heat exchanger is the waste heat from the fuel cell's stack. In the experiment, the indoor and the outdoor air temperature were fixed, and the compressor speed, EEV opening and waste heat temperature were varied. The results indicate that the $COP_h$ of the proposed system is 3.01 when the system is operating at a 1,200 rpm compressor speed, 50% EEV opening, and $50^{\circ}C$ waste heat source temperature in air pre-heater operation. However, when the system uses a water-refrigerant heat exchanger, the $COP_h$ increases to up to 9.42 at the same compressor speed and waste heat source temperature with 75% EEV openings.

태양열 공기가열기의 흡열판 홀 배치와 형상에 따른 열적 성능에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Thermal Performance of a Solar Air Heater Depending on the Hole Configuration and Geometry in the Absorber Plate)

  • A series of numerical analyses was conducted to predict the thermal performance of a solar air heater depending on the hole configuration and geometry in the absorber plate. The planar dimensions of the prototype were 1 m (W) by 1.6 m (H), and the maximum air flow considered was $187m^3/h$. It was considered that protruding holes with a triangular opening in the absorber plate would invoke turbulence in the air flow to enhance the convection heat transfer. Six different hole configurations were investigated and compared with each other, while the hole opening height was considered as a design variable. Three-dimensional transient analyses were performed with a commercial software package on the airflow and heat transfer in the model. The numerical results were analyzed and compared from the view point of the outlet air temperature and its time response to derive the optimal hole pattern and hole opening height.

  • 극초음속 공기 흡입 추진기관의 지상 시험 시 추진기관의 고속 비행 조건을 모의하기 위해 고온 공기를 공급할 수 있는 고온 공기 가열기가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 고온 가열기들을 조사하여 유형별로 정리하고, 장단점을 비교하였다. 가열기는 크게 유동장 내 연소 가열기, 아크 가열기, 축열식 가열기, 열교환식 가열기 4종류로 분류할 수 있었으며, 각각의 장단점이 다양하므로 목적에 맞게 가열기를 선정하여야 한다.

  • Thermoacoustic oscillation induced by a heater in a tube with air current is studied theoretically. Linearized perturbation equations are derived in dimensionless form under the assumption that the system is one dimensional. The equation to predict the acoustic power generation from a heating surface is derived and calculated by solving differential equations numerically. The effect of the mean velocity of the air current is illustrated. The energy conversion mechanism is shown by pressure-volume diagram like a heat engine.

  • This study focuses on the development and evaluation of the high efficiency absorption chiller-heater, which can be applied to a direct gas fired, double effect system with 40RT (508,000kJ) cooling capacity. The performance of the absorption chiller-heater is investigated through cycle simulation and experiment to obtain the system characteristics with the inlet tenperature of cooling, chilled water, and gas input flow rate. The efficiency of the different cycles has been studied and the simulation and experiment results show that higher coefficient of performance could be obtained for mixed flow cycle. The five percent difference was obtained from the comparison between experimental and cycle simulation results. As a result of this study, the optimum designs were determined based on the operating conditions and the coefficient of performance.

가정용 흡수식 냉난방기의 나선형 흡수기 열물질전달 (Heat and mass transfer of helical absorber on household absorption chiller/heater)

  • An experimental study has been performed on heat and mass transfer in a falling film absorber with a strong lithium bromide solution in small-sized household absorption chiller/heater. Components were concentrically arranged in a cylindrical form. from the center, low temperature generator, absorber and evaporator. This arrangement of helical-typed heat exchangers allows to make the machine much more compact than conventional one. Experimental measurements were conducted with a helical absorber and the obtained data were compared with data in the literatures. The comparison revealed that the helical absorber tube provides a similar performance to existing tube bundle absorber in heat and mass transfer. As a result, the heat and mass transfer characteristics of helical type absorber showed the possibility of the reduction in size and weight of small] capacity absorption chiller/heater.
