Since the braking system of rolling stock is directly linked to it's safety, ensuring reliability of braking system and evaluation of performance of it are very important. To develope the performance of braking system, it is required advanced technology and gradually various factors in the field test result. This study is designed to analyze the air pressure control about braking force in rolling stock, also, by comparing braking force of high speed railway with that of high speed train. This paper suggests to establish a method of computation of braking force form the air pressure control. And The high speed train researches into patterns of braking system such as the train of speed up and introduction of electric and pneumatic braking system.
On this study, magnetic force versus input currents is analyzed by modeling taper plunger type proportional electromagnet of ISC valve using the permernce method. And, the reliabiliy of simulation is verified by comparing the experimental values with the calaulate magnetic force. From the result of this study, it is found that the taper angles at plunger and core, the length of air gap between plunger and yoke are the prumary factors in designing taper plunget type proportional electromagnet. Magnetic force is decreased as a whole according to increasing the air gap between pluger and yoke, and vise versa. But, the magnetic force is not proportional to current, when the air gap is very small. In case of decreasing the taper angle of pluger, the stroke range of plunger where magnetic force is proportional to current becomes farther from core.
G-induced Loss of Consciousness(G-LOC) can be predicted by measuring Electromyogram(EMG) signals. Existing studies have mainly focused on specific body parts and lacked of consideration with quantitative EMG indices. The purpose of this study is to analyze the indices of EMG signals by human body parts for monitoring G-LOC condition. The data of seven EMG features such as Root Mean Square(RMS), Integrated Absolute Value(IAV), and Mean Absolute Value(MAV) for reflecting muscle contraction and Slope Sign Changes(SSC), Waveform Length (WL), Zero Crossing(ZC), and Median Frequency(MF) for representing muscle contraction and fatigue was retrieved from high G-training on a human centrifuge simulator. A total of 19 trainees out of 47 trainees of the Korean Air Force fell into G-LOC condition during the training in attaching EMG sensor to three body parts(neck, abdomen, calf). IAV, MAV, WL, and ZC under condition after G-LOC were decreased by 17 %, 17 %, 18 %, and 4 % comparing to those under condition before G-LOC respectively. Also, RMS, IAV, MAV, and WL in neck part under condition after G-LOC were higher than those under condition before G-LOC; while, those in abdomen and calf part lower. This study suggest that measurement of IAV and WL by attaching EMG sensor to calf part may be optimal for predicting G-LOC.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate whether the health status of Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) soldiers changed after one year of military service. Methods: We selected 483 ROKAF soldiers from the 11 749 recruits who participated in the 2011 physical examination. The selected soldiers underwent another physical examination in 2012 for advancement to senior airman. Data from 2011 and 2012 were merged. To collect data on lifestyle, a questionnaire was sent to all included subjects via the military intranet e-mail service. Results: The percentage of recruits with an abnormal alanine transaminase level (normal range <40 IU/L) decreased from recruitment (13.7%) to the following year (2.7%). Moreover, the percentage of obese soldiers (body mass index ${\geq}25kg/m^2$) decreased from recruitment (20.5%) to the following year (10.4%). There was a significant change in mean duration of exercise carried out each day before ($0.8{\pm}1.3$ hours) and after ($1.0{\pm}0.7$ hours) joining the ROKAF service. Conclusions: These ROKAF soldiers were generally in good health before and after joining the armed service. After one year of military service, the health status of most soldiers improved, especially with respect to body mass index and alanine transaminase level.

Objective: This study aims to examine the psychological effects of pilots caused by the environmental differences between actual and simulated flights by measuring biochemical stress level and subjective stress level. Background: Currently, the flight system of the air force suffers from several problems including a limited training area, increase of complex and tangled missions and rise in oil prices. In order to overcome these problems an L-V-C (Live, Virtual, Constructive) training system has been proposed as a solution. However, to establish the effective L-V-C training system, it is required to figure out the characteristics of each system first. Also we have to solve the problems which could occur when these systems are connected together. Method: In order to measure the biochemical stress level of pilots, we investigated the differences in cortisol responses after actual and simulated flight training separately. Meanwhile, we conducted the questionnaire survey of about 40 pilots to identify the subjective stress level of pilots. Results: There was significant difference in cortisol level between actual and simulated flight tasks. However, we found that there was no significant difference in pilots' feelings about two flight tasks. Conclusion: The results from this study can be used as basis for the further research on not only how to decrease linkage errors of the L system and the V system but also how to make the L-V training system more practical. Application: The results of the analysis might help to develop the Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) pilot training system.
The CanSat was designed as an educational satellite simulation program that implements the overall system of the satellite such as the command processing unit, the communication unit, and the power unit in a structure of the size of a can. In particular, the training effect is very excellent because the trainee can learn a process similar to the actual satellite development process by designing, manufacturing, testing, and launching. Republic of Korea Air Force Academy has been using the CanSat production kit used by the domestic can satellite contest experience department for education, but since it was produced based on PCB, it was impossible to show creativity and operation was restricted even with small mistakes. In this paper, we analyze the existing CanSat kit and propose a new educational CanSat kit that can be used in creative engineering design and practice subjects that will be reorganized into a regular course from 2021, and a lesson plan. In conclusion, by using the proposed CanSat kit for lectures, it is possible to achieve educational purposes and effects, improve lecture satisfaction, and provide stable instruction.

Flight test of flapping micro air vehicles (FMAVs) is carried out using an instrumented measurement system to obtain various engineering parameters and hence to assess the flight performance of the vehicles through the data investigation. An indoor flight test facility equipped with a motion capture system and tracking cameras is used for the work presented in this paper. Maneuvers including straight-level flight, ground flapping, takeoff and landing are tested. Spatial position and orientation data are obtained from the retro-reflective tracking markers attached to the vehicles. Subsequent test analysis is carried out by generating performance parameters from raw data and then assessing the flight performance by comparison of the vehicles. The main findings of this work confirm that the test method and procedures presented here enable the systematic numerical data measurement and assessment of the flying performances of these vehicles, and show the applicability for the test and evaluation of general flapping MAVs.

This paper has been presented the hydrodynamic effect by the journal speed, eccentricity and source positions in order to overcome the defects of air bearing such as low stiffness and damping coefficient. Choosing the two row source position of air bearing is different from existed investigations in the side of pressure distribution of air film because of the high speed of journal and the wedge effects by the eccentricity. These optimal chooses of the two row source positions enable us to improve the performance of the film reaction force and loading force as making the high speed spindle. In this paper, The pressure behavior in theory of air film according to the eccentricity of journal and the source positions analyzed. The results of investigated characteristics may be applied to precision devices like ultra-precision grinding machine and ultra high speed milling.
The main noise source of the BLDC rotary compressor for air conditioner was analyzed by using the measurement of noise and vibration, noise contour, and experimental modal analysis. The source is presumed to the mechanical resonance excited by the electromagnetic attractive force of the BLDC motor. To reduce the excessive noise of the BLDC rotary compressor due to the mechanical resonance, air-gap was enlarged. Its validation was conducted by the analysis of the electromagnetic attractive force which is generated by the BLDC motor. By enlarging the length of air-gap, the noise in the compressor and air conditioner was significantly improved by 2.5dB(A) and 4.5dB(A), respectively.
