  • This report describes the analytical solution of back EMF for BLDC motor using numerical analysis of air gap flux density. The analysis of air gap flux density is the key to expect the performance of back EMF for the design of brushless motor. The numerical analysis and FEM analysis are performed to vary attachment of stator side or rotor side, radial flux magnetization or parallel flux magnetization, magnet arc angle in the condition of constant air gap. This results have more reliable data comparing with test result of the back EMF for 7 phase BLDC motor.

  • An Emergency Destruction System is inevitable for ensuring safety both at sea and in populated areas, particularly during emergency detonations triggered by abnormal missile flight or upon mission completion. This paper introduces a novel method for developing an Emergency Destruction System capable of precisely calculating the Instantaneous Impact Point(IIP) during high-speed, maneuverable long-range surface-to-air missile flight tests. The Emergency Destruction System designed for long-range surface-to-air missile flight tests generates impact position tables that meticulously incorporate wind errors and navigation equations based on the Earth's ellipsoidal model. Factors such as the Coriolis effect and the direction of the gravitational acceleration vector are accounted for, significantly enhancing the accuracy of IIP determination amidst highly variable missile speed and attitude.

  • In modern warfare, the importance of SEAD(Suppression of Enemy Air Defense) mission is being emphasized. However, this mission runs the risk of hull damage or casualties of our friendly air forces. Because of these risks, research on the way of minimizing damages and enhancing mission capability is under active discussion. As a part of this research, SEAD mission planning with multiple UAVs has been covered using vector field guidance. This guidance method not only applies to various forms of flight path but also requires less computational power than other guidance methods. Therefore, in this paper, planning methods of SEAD mission for multiple UAVs using vector field guidance and experimental data from flight experiments regarding designed mission has been covered.

  • This paper has been shown for the extraction of Doppler signature from the radar signal for an air-breathing targets tracked in the ground radar. For the extractions, a Doppler resolution is confirmed from mathematical modeling of PT(pulse train) waveform. Doppler signatures of air-breathing target are varied to radar aspect angle of engine and are determined from physical parameter of jet engine. To confirm such Doppler signatures, the radar signal reflected from the air-breathing target is obtained by our radar signal storage. After this extraction, radar aspect angle of engine has estimated from tracking information. Relative differences of Doppler signatures to radar aspect angle of engine is verified from these results and Doppler profiles for radar target identification appliance are presented.

  • A fighter performing a reconnaissance mission is equipped with a pod that drives optical/infrared sensors for acquiring and identifying target information on the lower part of the fuselage. Due to the nature of the reconnaissance mission, the fighter performs high speed evasive maneuvers, and the resulting load should be considered importantly for the development of the pod. This paper concerns a numerical investigation into the inertial and aerodynamic loads of the airborne pod of high performance aircrafts. For the aerodynamic load analysis, the pylon and pod shapes are added to the fighter 3D model, and the commercial software was used for static and dynamic analysis. Considering the practical mission conditions, the common/extreme conditions were established respectively in the static and dynamic situations of pods and the driving torque could be tripled under dynamic conditions. In the analysis of inertia load, a 3-DOF model considering roll and turning maneuvers was derived by the Lagrangian method, and then the numerical integration method was applied to the analysis. As a results, it was conformed that the inertia load was generally induced at a low level compared to the aerodynamic load, but depending on the unbalance mass condition of the pod, the inertia load cannot be negligible.

  • Corrosion management of an aircraft and its engine relies on rinsing and cleaning using tap water. Few studies have reported effects of tap water species on corrosion behaviors of structural materials. In this study, a series of experiments were conducted based on the design of experiment. Solutions with different levels of chloride and sulfate ions were prepared using a full factorial design. Two structural materials (aluminum alloy and steel) were used for an alternate immersion test. Weight loss was then measured. In addition, a silver specimen was utilized as a sensor for chloride deposition measurement. The silver specimen was examined using the electrochemical reduction method, XPS, and SEM-EDS. Surface analysis revealed that levels of chloride and sulfate ions were sufficient for the formation of silver chloride and silver surface. Statistical analysis of weight loss and chloride deposition rate showed significant differences in measured values. Concentration of chloride ions greatly affected corrosion behaviors of structural materials. Sulfate ion hindered the adsorption reaction. These results emphasize the importance of controlling ion concentration of tap water used for cleaning and rinsing an aircraft.

  • AESA radar is able to instantaneously and adaptively position and control the beam, and this enables to greatly improve multi-target tracking capability with high accuracy in comparison to traditional mechanically-scanned radar system. This paper is primarily concerned with the development of an efficient methodology for multi-target managenent with the context of multi-target environment employing AESA radar. In this paper, targets are stratified into two principal categories: currently displayed targets and non-display targets, predicated upon their relative priority. Displayed targets are subsequently stratified into TOI (target of interest), HPT (high priority target), and SAT (situational awareness target), based on the requisite levels of tracking accuracy. It also suggests rules for determining target priority management, especially in air-to-air mode including interleaved mode. This proposed approach was tested and validated in a SIL (system integration lab) environment, applying it to AESA radars mounted on aircraft.

  • While fine dust is currently spreading around the world, fine dust is so small that it easily enters indoors and deteriorates indoor air quality, so it is an essential issue that must be solved to maintain cleanliness and improve air quality in households. Research on nanoradiation technology is continuously being conducted to effectively block fine dust and secure air permeability and dust collection rate. In this study, a PVDF fine dust dust-proof net was manufactured through electrospinning, and an experiment was conducted to confirm the external environmental resistance and indoor air quality improvement efficiency of the manufactured dust-proof net. It was verified that this dustproof net can be a practical alternative to effectively block fine dust and prevent diseases caused by fine dust.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust duality of CNN(Du-CNN) method which can classify the target and clutter in coastal environment for IR Imaging Sensor. In coastal environment, there are various clutter that have many similarities with real target due to diverse change of air temperature, water temperature, weather and season. Also, real target have various feature due to the same reason. Thus, the proposed Du-CNN method adopts human's multiple personality utilization and CNN technique to learn and classify target and clutter. This method has an advantage of the real time operation. Experimental results on sampled dataset of real infrared target and clutter demonstrate that the proposed method have better success rate to classify the target and clutter than general CNN method.

  • For stealth performance consideration, many UAV designs are adopting tailless lambda-shaped configurations which are likely to have unsteady dynamic characteristics. In order to control such UAVs through automatic flight control system, more accurate estimation of dynamic stability derivatives becomes essential. In this paper, dynamic stability derivatives of a tailless lambda-shaped UAV are estimated through numerically simulated forced oscillation method incorporating dynamic mesh technique. First, the methodology is validated by benchmarking the CFD results against previously published experimental results of the Standard Dynamics Model(SDM). The dependency of initial angle of attack, oscillation frequency and oscillation magnitude on the dynamic stability derivatives of a tailless UAV configuration is then studied. The results show reasonable agreements with experimental reference data and prove the validity and efficiency of the concept of using CFD to estimate the dynamic derivatives.
