This paper aims to analyze the phenomena of eighteenth-century mathematics and to find the "metaphysics" of the period which made them possible. It shows that mathematics in eighteenth-century was "mixed" and result-oriented and that eighteenth-century metaphysics emphasized the real and natural.he real and natural.

It is said that mathematics is neutral and free from any thought. But the history of mathematics refuses it. This paper aims to investigate modernism and postmodernism in mathematics and to scrutinize them. For this, first modernism is characterized by concentrating on Descartes' philosophy, and next postmodern view which criticizes modernism is discussed. Finally it is claimed that mathematical realism and postmodernism can be comparable in different dimensions.

In comparing two population means, the test statistic depends on the sample means and the variances, which are very sensitive to the extremely large or small values. This paper aims at examining the behavior of such observations using proper criterion which can measure the influence of them. We derive a computationally feasible statistic which can detect influential observations on the two-sample t-statistic.
