  • We threat sludge by heating methods with low pollution and high efficiency. Organic and inorganic components in Sludge can be almost removed through the heaging treatment process, and thefinal products are called artifical aoil or artificial media which are depended on temperature control. It can be recycled on the agricultural sites. Because it contained sort of organic matters while high heaging process with addition. To use them as agricultural materials, it need to know their characteristic transform in the nature. So we have planting bean and corn for two years with standard planting methods and to anticipate changing characteristics of artificial media and artificial soil by staying it natural condition, analyze it physical and chemical characteristics. This study will be contributed to reduce mass enviornmental problems by the treatment of Sludge and make it possible application for a agriculture use.

  • BACKGROUND: The mulberry cultivars 'Daeshim' and 'Shimgang' were developed in RDA in 2014 and 2017, respectively. 'Daeshim' yields a fruit size bigger than that of other varieties and has a productivity of over 70%, whereas 'Shimgang' has a high yield and a special characterization against the mulberry popcorn disease. In our study, a compositional comparison of these popular cultivars in Korea was undertaken to explore the nutrient profiles of mulberry fruit and promote the development of the rich minerals and flavonoids in mulberry fruit as performing each other irrigation time. METHODS AND RESULTS: These two cultivars were collected from the Sericulture and Apiculture Division, RDA, in Korea to investigate their amounts, weights, minerals, and flavonoid content using each other instrument. After 6 h of irrigation treatment, the amount of fruit (kg/tree) from Daeshim and Shimgang increased by 17.5 and 15.2 kg/tree, respectively. The total flavonoid content from Daeshim and Shimgang was determined to be 132.9 mg and 36.3 mg, respectively, after the 6 h irrigation treatment. CONCLUSION: Appropriate irrigation treatment methods such as water scheduling and volume will help increase fruit quantities and farmer incomes. It would be interesting to conduct further in-depth research on these fruits so that consumers can benefit from them as a food additive.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the quality characteristics of Gastrodia elata Blume fermented by lactic acid bacteria after saccharifying by 3 methods including enzyme, malt, and rice-nuruk. The lactic acid bacteria (LAB), Pediococcus inopinatus BK-3, isolated from kimchi could reduce the unpleasant taste and odor of Gastrodia elata Blume. The total acidity value of Gastrodia elata fermented by LAB on the malt and rice-nuruk extract solution for 3 days was 2.23% and 2.33%, respectively. After saccharification by malt and rice-nuruk extract solution for 3 days, the viable cell number of fermented Gastrodia elata was 9.14 log cfu/mL and 9.27 log cfu/mL, respectively. The total acidity values were increased above 3.35% by malt and rice-nuruk extract solution for 8 days. Thus, the viable cell number was the highest by malt and rice-nuruk extract solution fermentation for 3 days. The amino acid content of Gastrodia elata fermented by LAB after saccharification by malt extract solution was higher than that of other saccharifying methods. The free sugar content and p-hydroxybenzyl derivatives induced by the enzyme method were higher than those of other saccharifying methods. The overall acceptability was the highest at 4.2 point in Gastrodia elata fermented by malt extract solution.

  • The objective of this study was to define the effects of various cooking and re-heating methods (pan roasting, steaming, oven grilling and micro-waving) on the cholesterol and formation of cholesterol oxidation products in beef loin during storage at $4^{\circ}C$. Raw samples showed lower total cholesterol content than cooked products sampled during storage for 6 d. The following cholesterol oxidation products (COPs) were separated by gas chromatography: $7{\beta}$-hydroxy cholesterol, $20{\alpha}$-hydroxy cholesterol, 25-hydroxy cholesterol, cholestane-$3{\beta}$, $5{\alpha}$, $6{\beta}$ triol (triol), ${\alpha}$-epoxide and 7-ketocholesterol. Total amounts of COPs/cholesterol at 0 d were 0.74, 0.63, 0.76, 1.23 and 0.83% for the raw sample, pan roasting, steaming, oven grilling and micro waving methods, respectively. After 6 d storage almost of the samples had higher content of total COPs than at 0 and 3 d; the lowest (0.55%) COPs was found in the steaming cooking and re-heating method. The highest (5.96%) of COPs was found in the pan roasting cooking and re-heating method after 6 d storage. In conclusion, the concentration of total cholesterol and cholesterol oxidation of beef loin were increased as a consequence of cooking and re-heating methods. Steaming and micro-waving methods showed the lowest of cholesterol oxidation products under refrigerated storage for 6 d. However, each cooking and re-heating method had its own distinctive cooking effects.

  • With increasing applications of technologies developed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, data have come to replace important knowledge and experience in the agricultural field. Although data-based smart agriculture is growing at an average annual rate of 8.57%, research on ways to utilize data produced alongside is remains insufficient. Because such data may considerably help stakeholders involved in agricultural activities, we deployed the prosumer concept to revitalize agricultural data. We systematically structured and defined three relevant entities: the prosumer, which produces and consumes agricultural data; the database, which systematically processes and integrates agricultural data; and the consumer, which utilizes agricultural data in various ways. Our framework is designed to help stakeholders use agricultural data to improve the quality of crops, minimize the failure of agricultural activities, quickly adapt to new environments and methods of crop production, and find effective solutions to relevant issues.

  • In order to produce the high quality of dried-ear mushroom, various drying methods such as hot-air drying at $40{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, freeze drying and drying in vinyl house were carried out. Drying hours of hot-air drying, freeze drying and drying in vinyl house were 12.5~21.5, 36.0 and 72.0 hrs, respectively. Vitamin $D_2$ content of sample was the highest as $6.77{\mu}g/g$ DW in drying in vinyl house and then followed by freeze drying as $5.90{\mu}g/g$ DW and hot-air drying as $1.89{\sim}5.01{\mu}g/g$ DW. After dry, external appearance and color of mushrooms applied hot-air drying and drying in vinyl house were better than freeze-dried one. After rehydration, water uptake of sample in drying in vinyl house and hot-air drying at $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ were 17.8 and 19.3~21.0 times, respectively. The methods of drying in vinyl house and hot-air drying at $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ also led to high hardness, good shape and resilience. As the results of production of dried-ear mushroom with high quality, we suggest that the best method for drying is the drying in vinyl house due to not only high vitamin $D_2$ content, good external appearance and color after drying but also high hardness and good shape after rehydration.

  • Jatropha curcas is an oil bearing species with multiple uses and considerable economic potential as a biofuel plant. Plant flowering and breeding characteristics are important for us to understand the reproduction of plant populations. The present study describes the floral biology and flowering phenology of J. curcas which is a prerequisite for hybridization program for genetic improvement through conventional breeding. The plant produces flowers in dichasial inflorescences. Normally, the flowers are unisexual, and male and female flowers are produced in the same inflorescence. Only a few male flowers are produced in an inflorescence, and fruits are produced only through pollination between different flowers from the same or different plants. This study includes a description of the inflorescence, flower anatomy of both male and female flowers, female : male ratio, pollen : ovule ratio, flowering phenology, pollen viability, stigma receptivity, comparison of selfing methods and a comparison of geitonogamy and xenogamy. This information may be useful in J. curcas breeding programmes.

  • Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide widely used for insect control in a variety of crops. The evaluation of imidacloprid total residues in animal feeds derived from crop by-products is required to ensure the safety of livestock products. We performed simultaneous LC/MS/MS analyses of imidacloprid and its metabolites in five different livestock products including beef, pork, chicken, milk and egg from domestic markets. The methods for sample preparation and instrumental analysis were established by modifying QuEChERS method to meet the Codex guidelines. The methods generated 0.0035 mg/kg of the limit of determination (LOD), 0.01 mg/kg of the limit of quantitation (LOQ) and standard calibration linearity with >0.983 of the coefficients of determination (R2). The methods exhibited the recovery values of imidacloprid and its metabolites ranging from 65.66 to 119.27% without any interference between matrices. Imidacloprid total residues in the livestock products were found as values lower than the LOQ and maximum residue limits (MRLs). This study suggests that the methods are successfully applicable for the safety evaluation of imidacloprid total residues in livestock products from domestic markets.
