Isoflavones 4'-O-methylalpinumisoflavone (1) and 5, 7, 4'-trihydroxy-6,8-diprenylisoflavone (2) were isolated from stem bark of Cudrania tricuspidata (Carr.) Bureau. These compounds were the first reported from this plant. Antioxidant activities 1 and 2 were evaluated by measuring their ability to scavenge DPPH and ABTS radicals. Diprenylisoflavone 2 showed strong scavenging activity against ABTS ($IC_{50}\;=\;16.3\;{\mu}M$), three-fold higher compared to genistein, which do not possess prenylated group which indicates strong scavenging activity against ABTS radical of isoflavone 2 was due to prenyl group.

The objectives of this study are to analyze life satisfaction between agricultural and non-agricultural households using 1~4th KReIS (Korean retirement and income study) data, to investigate whether to affect on life satisfaction according to the employment industry of householder. and to examine various determinants of life satisfaction between agricultural and non-agricultural households. The summary of analysis results is as follows. First, life satisfaction is influenced by economic value. Also it is examined that both physical and mental health have a significant effect for life satisfaction. Especially, it is analyzed that the effect of mental health is larger than one of physical health for life satisfaction. In addition, it is investigated that life satisfaction of single-person households is higher than two or more person households. Second, there was significant difference between agricultural and non-agricultural households in life satisfaction. It was proved that life satisfaction of agricultural households is higher than non-agricultural ones. As a result, it is confirmed that life satisfaction is influenced by industrial characteristic and mental health rather than another determinants.

Plasma concentrations of adiponectin have been shown to be decreased in patients with obesity, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and metabolic syndrome. Recent studies have found that adiponectin reduces lipid accumulation in macrophage foam cells which may impact the development of atherosclerosis. However, it remains unclear whether adiponectin is involved in the process of lipid accumulation during myogenesis. Using C2C12 myoblasts, we investigated the effect of adiponectin on intramyocellular lipid accumulation during myogenesis. The results showed that intracellular lipid accumulation is significantly decreased during C2C12 differentiation, apparently due to increased fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid synthesis during this process. C2C12 cells transiently transfected with adiponectin gene showed reduced lipid accumulation as compared to controls. Further experiments demonstrated that adiponectin can suppress lipid accumulation by increasing fatty acid oxidation during C2C12 myogenesis.
