The effects of aging on fatigue of PSF/AS4 laminates tvas studied using the new energy release rate analysis. The analysis by the variational mechanics has been useful in providing fracture mechanics interpretation of matrix microcracking in cross-ply laminates. This paper describes the changes of the critical energy release rate ${\Delta}Gmc$(microcracking toughness) about the variation of the aging period during fatigue loading. The master plot by modified Pans-law gives a characterization of a material system's resistance to microcrack formation. PSF/AS4 $[0/902]_s$ laminates were aged at four different temperatures based on the glass transition temperature for 60 days. At all temperatures, the toughness decreased with aging time. The decrease of the toughness at higher temperature was faster than at lower temperature. To assess the effects of aging on fatigue, the unaged laminates were compared with the laminates which were aged for 60 days at $170^{\circ}C$ near $180^{\circ}C\;T_g$. The slope of dD/dN versus A 6u, of the aged laminates was lower than that of the unaged laminates. There was a significant shift of the aged data to formation of microcracks at the lower values of ${\Delta}G_m$.

The elderly are at increased risk of developing dysphagia due to aging and illnesses. The aim of the current study was to analyze, via an acoustic study, the change in the voice quality of normal elderly people after a 3oz water-swallow test. Subjects included a group of 60 normal elderly people (age: $mean{\pm}SD=76.9{\pm}6.66$) and 60 healthy young adults (age: $mean{\pm}SD=25.1{\pm}2.36$). Every participant produced a five-second /a/ phonation pre- and post-swallowing, and the fractioned two-second sections were analyzed using the MDVP (multi dimensional voice program) analysis. The elderly group demonstrated a post-swallowing increase in the following related acoustic parameters: fundamental frequency, fundamental frequency variation, amplitude-variation, and noise in both two-second sections. However, the younger group showed an increase only in frequency related acoustic parameters (i.e., STD ) in the first two-second section. The significant changes in values in the post-swallowing parameters might indicate temporary irregularities in pitch and amplitude along with higher amounts of noise in the voice. The results could be attributed to water residues in the vocal fold and vocal tract, as well as a deterioration of the motor and sensory functions caused by anatomical and physiological changes that result from aging.

The binder phase for TiC reinforced steel matrix composite was added in the form of elemental powders and master alloy powders. The microstructures, binder phase variation with TiC content and mechanical properties were evaluated. The addition of a type of binder phase largely effects the microstructure and mechanical properties. The binder phase variation from starting composition was observed with increase in wt% TiC content and this variation was higher when the master alloy powders were used as a binder. The response to heat treatment was decreased with an increase in TiC content due to the shift of binder phase from the starting composition.
To investigate the deinkability according to the ink composition, deinking chemicals and aging time, newspaper was printed with different solvent types: 30% soy-based oil ink(A), 50% soy-based oil ink(B), 45% mineral oil ink(C) and 42% linseed oil ink(D). The newspapers were aged naturally for 15, 30, 90, 180 days, and were deinked with various deinking chemicals. The brightness of the deinked pulp of newspaper was affected by the ink composition, aging time and deinking chemicals, i.e., it was decreased with increasing aging time in the order of C, A, B and D. And the brightness also decreased in the order of lipase, cellulase and conventional chemical. The deinking yield showed the same tendency as the brightness variation at a given brightness. The strength of the deinked pulps increased until 30 days, but decreased or maintained after that time. And the strength decreased in the order of C, D, B and A, and also decreased in the order of lipase, conventional chemicals and cellulase.
The effect of synthesis condition, type of starting materials, mole ratio, mixing. aging, and crystallization temperature and time, on the size of FAU-type zeolite has been studied. Different mixing route may lead to the different phase of zeolite even with the same starting materials. In general, the size of particles is smaller after aging, especially at lower aging temperature. Two step mixture gel preparation method resulted to not only the reduction of crystallization time but also that of particle size, but without the aging of two mixture gels before the preparation of the overall gel in the second step, only the crystallization time was reduced, not the particle size. The FAU-type zeolite with average particle size 0.4$\mu$m and BET surface area 838 $m^2$/g was obtained from starting materials of liquid sodium silicate, sodium aluminate, and sodium hydroxide with two step preparation of mixture gel, aging of the mixture gels in two steps, which effectively reduced the crystallization time and particle size.
DC accelerating aging characteristics of praseodymium-based ZnO varistors doped with $Dy_2O_3$ were investigated with sintering time. The varistor sintered for 1h exhibited the highest nonlinearity, with a nonlinear exponent of 66.61 and a leakage current of $1.16{\mu}A$, whereas they did not exhibit relatively high stability. The varistor sintered for 2h having nonlinear exponent of 54.81 and leakage current of $2.52{\mu}A$ showed very excellent stability, which the variation rates of varistor voltage, nonlinear exponent, and leakage current are -1.19%, -4.00%, and +75.79% for 2h, under DC accelerated aging stress, such as ($0.85\;V_{1mA}/115^{\circ}C$/24h)+($0.90\;V_{1mA}/120^{\circ}C$/24h)+($0.95\;V_{1mA}/125^{\circ}C$/24h)+($0.95\;V_{1mA}/150^{\circ}C$/24h).
The influence of welding heat input variation(600-900J/cm) and heat-treatment condition after welding on tensile strength of butt welded joint in $175Kg/mm^2$ strength level Maraging steel(Co-free and Co-containing) sheets was investigated on the basis of hardness distribution, microstructure of weld metal and fracture surface. The obtained main results are as follows; 1. The strength of weldment (UTS, NTS), joint efficiency showed a little decreasing tendency with the increase in welding heat input, and the elongation showed a little increasing tendency with the increase in the width of weld metal. It was considered because of the plastic constraint of the high strength base metal. 2. The strength of weldment was better in the solution treatment and aging than the aging only after welding due to the disappearance of almost denverite in weld metal. 3. The hardness distribution in weldment after welding and heat-treatment was almost similar to both Co containing and Co free Maraging steel with change in welding heat input. 4. The fracture was occurred at weld metal, and the fracture surface showed a relatively shallow dimples in both Co containing and Co free Maraging steel.
The microstructure, electrical conductivity and hardness variation of an AZ91-5wt%Sn Mg alloy sample during a solid-solution and aging heat treatment were instigated by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and by Rockwell hardness techniques in this study. The XRD result shows that the main phases in the as-casted alloy are ${\alpha}$-Mg, $Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ and $Mg_2Sn$. From the SEM images of the AZ91-5wt%Sn Mg alloy after the solution treatment, the $Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ phases in the alloy were found to have dissolved into the matrix with an increase in the holding time during the solution treatment, but $Mg_2Sn$ phases were clearly observable. The highest peak hardness of the AZ91-5wt%Sn Mg alloy is 82HRE at an aging temperature of $200^{\circ}C$.

In this paper, effect of catalytic configuration on the sensing properties of $SnO_2$ nanoparticle gas sensitive thick film was investigated. Two types of catalytic configuration, mono and binary, were made on the $SnO_2$ nanoparticle. In case of mono catalytic system, $3 wt\%$ Pd or Pt catalyst was doped onto the $SnO_2$ nanoparticle, respectively. In case of binary catalytic system, Pd and Pt was doped simultaneously with concentration ratio of 1:2 to 2:1 onto the $SnO_2$ nanoparticle. After doping, gas sensitive thick film was printed on alumina substrate and heat-treated at 450 to $600^{\circ}C$. Gas sensing properties was evaluated using 500 to 10,000 ppm $CH_4$ gas. As a result, gas sensitive thick film with binary catalytic system showed unstable phenomena that the gas sensitivity was changed according to aging time. In contrary, the mono catalytic system showed relatively stable phenomena despite of aging time. Especially, gas sensitive thick film doped with $3 wt\%$ Pt catalyst and heat-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ showed good sensing properties such as 0.57 of $R_{3500}/R_{1000}$ and very small variation within $3.5\%$ after aging for 5 hours, and response time was very short less than 20 seconds.

The nonlinear properties and their stability of ZPCCD- based varistors, which are composed of ZnO P $r_{6}$$O_{ll}$ - CoO-C $r_2$$O_3$-D $y_2$$O_3$-based ceramics, were investigated in the D $y_2$$O_3$ content range of 0.0∼2.0 mol%. The incorporation of D $y_2$$O_3$ greatly affected the nonlinear properties and the best nonlinearity was obtained from 0.5 mol% D $y_2$$O_3$ with nonlinear exponent of 66.6 and leakage current of 1.2 $\mu$A. Further addition of D $y_2$$O_3$ deteriorated the nonlinear properties. In stability against DC accelerated aging stress state: 0.95 $V_{1mA}$/15$0^{\circ}C$/24 h, the 0.5 mol% D $y_2$$O_3$-doped varistor exhibited the highest stability, in which the variation rate of varistor voltage and nonlinear exponent are -1.9% and 10.5%, respectively. The remainder varistors resulted in thermal runaway due to low density of ceramics.s.s.
