In recent years, medical and health care fields have attracted attention for virtual reality (VR) applications. VR technology is emerging as a healthcare specialist and psychotherapy alternative to cope with the increase in the demand for the treatment of conditions such as psychological diseases caused by old age and stress. Using VR, virtual patients or organs can be trained, and the medical staff can plan and pre-test before surgeries. The use of VR technology for psychotherapy and rehabilitation of one-to-one, face-to-face treatment allows a single physician to respond to multiple health care needs.
This study a secondary data analysis study attempted to identify the factors influencing the successful aging of the elderly in Korea. Using the data of the 7th Aging Research Panel in 2018, 4,106 people over 65 years of age who had at least one non-living child and no missing values in the study variables were enrolled. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, crossover analysis, independent sample t-test, and binary logistic regression analysis. The results of this study revealed that the factors affecting successful aging among elderly included age, the presence or absence of a spouse, education level, housing type, subjective health, exercise, alcohol drinking, and non-face-to-face contact frequency with non-cohabiting children, and the explanatory power of the variables was 24.1%. In order for the elderly to achieve successful aging, centering on child ties, the frequency of non-face-to-face contact, which can comfort the elderly's life and increase the satisfaction of life in a continuous relationship, is more important than having children live close and meet frequently. Based on this study, various strategies are needed for the successful aging of elderly people who are socially isolated due to concerns about COVID-19 infection.

Due to the recent pandemic and the development of ICT technology, the use of non-face-to-face and unmanned systems is expanding, and it is very important to understand emotions in communication in non-face-to-face situations. As emotion recognition methods for various facial expressions are required to understand emotions, artificial intelligence-based research is being conducted to improve facial expression emotion recognition in image data. However, existing research on facial expression emotion recognition requires high computing power and a lot of learning time because it utilizes a large amount of data to improve accuracy. To improve these limitations, this paper proposes a method of recognizing facial expressions using age and gender, which are image meta information, as a method of recognizing facial expressions with even a small amount of data. For facial expression emotion recognition, a face was detected using the Yolo Face model from the original image data, and age and gender were classified through the VGG model based on image meta information, and then seven emotions were recognized using the EfficientNet model. The accuracy of the proposed data classification learning model was higher as a result of comparing the meta-information-based data classification model with the model trained with all data.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the skeletal, dental and soft tissue profile changes following the face mask therapy in growing skeletal class III malocclusion patients. The fifteen patients with the good results were selected among the patients who visited the Department of Orthodontics in Seoul National University Hospital. The mean age was 10.63(range 7.25-13.25) years and the mean treatment duration was 9.84(range 2.00-27.00) months. Lateral cephalograms were taken just before and after face mask application. After tracing the cephalograms, thirty five items(twety angular and fifteen linear) were measured. The differences before and after the face mask therapy were compared statistically by the paired t-test(p<0.05). The results were as follows : SNA and Co-A(effective maxillary length) increased significantly after using the face mask(p<0.001), which reflects the orthopedic changes of maxilla. SNB and Co-Gn(effective mandibular length) also showed an increase(p<0.01), which may be a result of the strong growth trends of the samples. FMA, SN-GoGn and Y-axis angle increased significantly(p<0.01), which means the backward and downward rotation of the mandible. This positional change seemed to have compensated an increase of effective mandibular length. There was no statistically significant difference in angulation of upper and lower incisors between pre-treatment and post-treatment(p>0.05). In soft tissue profile, the upper lip was positioned anteriorly(p<0.01) after treatment and approximated to the normal standards.
The aim of this study was to find whether the perception of facial attractiveness is influenced by gender, age and kinds of affective dimensions(sharp/soft, babyish/mature). In the study the participants (48 elementary school students, 44 middle school students, 39 university students comprised of 60 males and 71 females) were shown the photos of sixty female faces and asked to grade each face on a nine point scale in three different dimensions (sharp/soft, babyish/mature, attractive/unattractive). Results using Multi-level analysis, faces that were babyish and soft were perceived as more attractive regardless of gender and age. But differences were found in the strength of facial attractiveness by gender and age. Two groups (elementary school students and middle school students) perceived the same photos of female faces to be less attractive than the university students. Also, male participants perceived the faces to be less attractive than female participants. Moreover the study showed a significant difference between university students and elementary school students in relation to the sharp/soft dimension and this dimension was more influential on elementary school students than university students. These results further suggest that if a face looks babyish and soft, then the face will be perceived as attractive regardless of gender or age. However, the degree of facial attractiveness perceived depends on the participant's gender and age.

Background: Age-related changes in facial skin is a major concern in women. This study aimed to objectively evaluate normal skin elasticity and age-related differences in the faces of East Asian women. There are no standard values for data related to normal skin on East Asian women. Methods: We studied 129 healthy East Asian women without a history of cosmetic procedures or surgeries. Skin elasticity was assessed at the cheek and lower eyelid points, which were assessed on both the right and left sides of the face. Results: The age of the subjects showed significant negative correlations with the R2 and R7 parameters, which represent skin elasticity after deformation. Conclusion: We therefore concluded that the primary decrease in skin elasticity in East Asian women occurs in the midface region.
Purpose: This study was aimed to examine the effect of employment status upon the subjective health status. Methods: The data of the study were from the 11th Korean Labor Panel Data, obtained by using a face to face interview method. These data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test and multiple regression using the SPSS program. Results: There was a significant, statistical difference on the subjective health status according to employment status. The subjective health status of non-regular workers was lower than that of the regular workers. The significant predictors of the subjective health status of all subjects were economic status, age, gender, education, marital status, drinking, employment status, and egular work time. The significant predictors of the subjective health status of workers were age, economic status, gender, and education. The significant predictors of the subjective health status of non-regular workers were age, economic status, marital status, gender, education, and regular work time. Conclusion: These results indicate an association between the subjective health status and employment status. The subjective health status may be affected by instability of temporary employment. The additional research to clarify the role of employment instability is recommended. Research on social policy to resolve health inequalities is recommended.
the author studied the corelativity between the head and face and the maxillary arch in Korean. This study was undertaker in 336 persons at age from 9 to 19 years who had normal occlusion by means of angle's classification. The following results were obtained. 1. The corelative coefficient between the Height of Head and Face (H.H.F.) and the Arch Length (A.L.) was 0.203-0.543, 2. The corelative coefficient between the Bizygomatic width (Z.W.) and the Bicanine width (C-C) was 0.203-0.543. 3. The corelative coefficient between the Bizygomatic width (Z.W.) and the Bimolar width (M-M) was 0.206-0.600. 4. The corelative coefficient between the Face shape (Index a) and Maxillaxy arch shape (In-dex c) was 0.232-0.404. 5. The corelative coefficient between the Face shape (Index a) and Maxillary arch shape (Index d) was 0.221-0.401. 6. There was no corelativity between the Anterior-posterior width of head (A.P.W.) and Arch Length A.L.), Head shape (Index b) and Maxillary arch shape (Index c, Index d).
This study is to understand the image of the Korean beauty and rewards to be gained by trying to be a beautiful person and to study differences according to demographic characteristics. It was studied with the purpose of industrializing beauty image and selling it to foreign countries. The survey questionnaire was distributed to Seoul and Kyeongkido. Respondents totaled 301. Collected data were analyzed with frequency analysis, factor analysis, $X^2$-test, and regression. (2) The inner image of the Korean beauty emphasizes mature personality, social economic ability, but not housework, and cultural artistic ability. (3) Rewards gained by trying to be a beauty are psychological, actual, and social ones. (4) External face and body image of the beauty are different by demographic characteristics (sex, age, marital status, final education, monthly average income, religion). (5) The inner image of the beauty is different by age, final education, and monthly average income. (6) Rewards gained by trying to be a beauty are different by sex, age, final education, and monthly average income.
Surveys are an important data collection method for national statistics in Korea. As of July 22, 2024, based on data provided by the MDIS of Statistics Korea, approximately 92% of national statistics are compiled using the survey method, and about 85% of these rely primarily on face-to-face interviews for data collection. However, with the increase in single-person households, the nonresponse rate of surveys has been rising each year. This study examined the behaviors of respondents across different survey modes used in the 2020 Korean Crime Victim Survey, whose raw data about survey response modes is available for public use on the MDIS website in Statistics Korea. The results show that, overall, the younger the age group, the higher the proportion of self-administered responses, with this proportion being higher for female than male except over 60 years old. Notably, the 20s age group has a significantly higher percentage of self-administered (TAPI) responses for both male and female. Furthermore, the response using tablets generally has a higher proportion compared to the response using paper across all age groups except for females in their teens, regardless of whether the survey is interviewer-administered or self-administered.
