모바일 어플리케이션의 감정 적응형 사용자 인터페이스 저작 프레임워크 (An Authoring Framework for Emotion-Aware User Interface of Mobile Applications)

  • Since affective computing has been introduced in 90s, affect recognition technology has achieved substantial progress recently. However, the application of user emotion recognition into software user interface is in its early stages. In this paper, we describe a new approach for developing mobile user interface which could react differently depending on user emotion states. First, an emotion reaction model is presented which determines user interface reactions for each emotional state. We introduce a pair of mappings from user states to different user interface versions. The reacting versions are implemented by a set of variations for a view. Further, we present an authoring framework to help developers/designers to create emotion-aware reactions based on the proposed emotion reaction model. The authoring framework is necessary to alleviate the burden of creating and handling multi versions for views at the development process. A prototype implementation is presented as an extension of the existing authoring tool DAT4UX. Moreover, a proof-of-concept application featuring an emotion-aware interface is developed using the tool.

New report on cyanophyte in Korea, Microseira wollei (Farlow ex Gomont) G.B.McGregor and Sendall ex Kennis (Oscillatoriaceae)

  • Microseira wollei (Farlow ex Gomont) G.B.McGregor and Sendall ex Kennis, a mat-forming filamentous harmful cyanobacterium, has historically been found in the United States. Microseira wollei produces neurotoxins and hepatotoxins which affect declining water quality. In the present research, we report of unrecorded M. wollei with morphology, TEM anatomy, molecular phylogeny on the Korean population. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, Korean population were different by 0.02% (2 bp) to the Japanese population, 1.2-1.3% to the Australian population, and 2.5-3.7% to the United States populations. nifH gene sequences were 8.4-8.7% different to Australian ones and 3.5-3.8% to other population, however molecular phylogenetic analysis of M. wollei living in Korea revealed monophyly with the geographical populations of U.S.A., Australia, and other geographical populations. Since the mat of M. wollei has been reported to be maintained for several years in other countries, it is necessary further investigate the seasonal and regional distribution of this species in Korea.

  • The current study aims to determine the effects of descriptive menu labels on customers' purchase intentions in a restaurant setting. The research identified the importance of information provided by the menu labels as well as how the different types of descriptive menu labels affect patrons' purchase intentions in an American-style restaurant. The subjects evaluated in this study were foreign clients who frequented the Western cuisine restaurant in the United States Forces Korea. A total of 351 questionnaires were analyzed by factor analysis, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and regression analysis by means of SPSS 15.0. As a result, it was found that comprehension of menu and price were the most necessary pieces of information for customers encountering menu labels, and sensory type of descriptive menu labels was the most preferred. In addition, differences in the purchase intentions of customers in response to different types of descriptive menu labels suggests that there were more statistically significant differences in the perception of purchase intention among descriptive labels as compared to usual menu labels.

Etiological Agents Implicated in Foodborne Illness World Wide

  • This mini review focuses on foodborne illnesses and outbreaks caused by food-producing animals because statistical information of the foodborne illnesses is important in human health and food industry. Contaminated food results in 600 million cases of foodborne diseases and 420,000 deaths worldwide every year. The world population is currently 7.8 billion, and 56 million people die every year; of these, every year, 7.69% of people experience foodborne diseases, and 7.5% of annual deaths (56 million deaths) was died by foodborne illness in the world. A majority of such patients are affected by norovirus and Campylobacter. Listeria monocytogenes is the most fatal. In the United States, except for those caused by Campylobacter, the number of foodborne diseases did not decrease between 1997 and 2017, and cases caused by Toxoplasma gondii are still being reported (9 cases in 2017). The percentage of foodborne illnesses caused by food-producing animals was 10.4%-14.1% between 1999 and 2017 in the United States. In Europe, foodborne illnesses affect 23 million people every year and cause approximately 5,000 deaths. Europe has more Campylobacter- and Salmonella-related cases than in other countries. In Australia, the highest number of cases are due to Campylobacter, followed by Salmonella. In Korea, Escherichia coli followed by norovirus. Campylobacter- and Clostridium perfringens-related cases have been reported in Japan as well. This review suggests that Campylobacter, Salmonella, L. monocytogenes, and E. coli, which are usually isolated from animal-source food products are associated with a high risk of foodborne illnesses.

Cross Cultural Study on Behavioral Intention Formation in Knowledge Sharing

  • The implementation of Knowledge Management Systems does not guarantee knowledge sharing within organizations because knowledge sharing cannot be mandated. Although previous investigations have attempted to identify the motivational factors that facilitate knowledge sharing, the results of these studies cannot be easily applied across organizations due to the highly context specific nature of knowledge sharing. Societal culture, as well as organizational culture, affects knowledge sharing behavior. This is why successful knowledge sharing initiatives in the United States, for example, may prove ineffective in another country with a very different culture like China. Therefore, it is clearly important to understand the effects of different societal cultures on individuals' knowledge sharing behaviors. The principal objective of this study is to deepen our understanding about the impact of national culture on an individual's knowledge sharing intention. In order to achieve this goal, field data was collected from 197 employees from a variety of companies and organizations in two countries-Sweden and China. In a collectivistic culture such as China, anticipated reciprocal relationships have been shown to directly affect individuals' attitudes toward knowledge sharing, and the organizational climate has also been shown to affect subjective norms to a significant degree. Subjective norms can influence intentions to share knowledge indirectly through attitudes. In the highly individualistic culture of Sweden, one's sense of self worth and anticipated reciprocal relationships have been shown to profoundly affect individuals' attitudes towards knowledge sharing. In both countries, anticipated extrinsic rewards have been shown to exert no detectable effects on respondents' knowledge sharing attitudes, and subjective norms and organizational climate have been determined not to affect knowledge sharing intentions directly. Rather, in both cases, knowledge sharing intentions have been shown to be directly affected by attitude.

프랜차이즈 시스템에서 가맹본부 요인과 가맹점 요인 이 갈등원인으로서 기회주의에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Franchisor Factor and Franchisee Factor on Opportunism That Causes Conflict in Franchise System)

  • In this study, the factors affecting opportunism that causes conflict in the franchise system between franchisor and franchisee were analyzed based on the transaction cost theory and power-dependency theory. Hypothesis 1 states that franchisor support will negatively affect opportunism. Hypothesis 2 expresses that franchisee transaction-specific investment on the relationship with the franchisor will positively affect opportunism. Hypothesis 3 asserts that franchisee dependency on the franchisor will positively affect opportunism. All of these were supported. However, Hypothesis 4, maintaining that franchisee competitive intensity will positively affect opportunism, was not supported. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are as follows. This study has identified the antecedents of franchisor opportunism that causes conflict in the franchise system by comprehensively applying the transaction cost theory and power-dependency theory. This study can also identify what a company should manage specifically to lower opportunism by identifying the antecedents of franchisor opportunism in the franchise system. The limitations of this study and the directions for future studies are as follows. First, not all of the antecedents of franchisor opportunism in the franchise system have been extensively investigated from the transaction cost theory's and power-dependency theory's viewpoint. In the future, it is necessary to identify additional factors. Second, the study was conducted only from the franchisee's perspective. In future studies, more accurate research results can be obtained by simultaneously examining the franchisee's point of view and the franchisor's point of view.

독거노인의 생활활동능력과, 신체통증과 정서상태에 관한 비교연구 (The comparative study of activity ability of daily livings, body pain and emotional states between elders living alone and those living with others)

  • 본 연구에서는 독거노인과 비독거노인의 건강상태에 관하여 생활활동능력, 신체통증 그리고 정서상태의 3가지 요소로 나누어 그룹간에 차이를 비교하고 고령자의 건강상태에 관여하는 요인에 대한 관련성을 확인해 보았다. 연구에는 총 88명의 고령자를 대상으로 조사를 실시하여 분석에 사용하였다. 비독거노인에 비해, 독거노인의 경우 생활활동능력이 낮고, 신체적통증이 높으며, 정서상태가 부정적인 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 3요소간 유의미한 상관관계가 있었는데, 세부 분석 결과 이는 거주형태(독거/비독거)이외에도 생활활동패턴(실내/실외 활동)이 동시에 관여하고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 독거노인 돌봄서비스와 고령자의 건강상태를 객관적으로 측정하기 위한 생리학적 지표개발에 기초자료로 활용되어 질 수 있을 것으로 예상한다.

복지국가 재편의 경로의존성 : 공적연금 제도 구조와 급여관대성 및 지출수준에 관한 비교연구 (Pension Structure, Benefit Generosity and Pension Spending in the Retrenchment Period of Welfare States)

  • 이 연구는 복지국가 재편기에 공적연금의 급여 관대성과 지출의 변화추이 및 결정요인을 밝히고자 하였다. 특히 공적연금 제도에서의 경로의존성을 밝힌 방대한 질적 연구들의 심층적 논의를 계량적 비교국가연구의 흐름에 통합하여 공적연금제도의 변화에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인으로서 공적연금제도의 구조(structure)에 주목하였다. 한편, 복지국가 발달을 설명했던 산업화 이론과 권력자원 이론이 복지국가 재편기 공적연금정책의 변화를 설명하는 데에도 유용한가를 검증하고자 하였다. 1980-2007년까지 서구 복지국가 13개국을 대상으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공적연금제도의 구조에 따라 연금급여 관대성과 지출수준에 상이한 변화 추이가 확인되었다. 둘째, 결합시계열 회귀분석 결과, 연금구조는 제도 관대성과 지출에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 요인임이 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 고령화의 영향력은 연금급여 관대성을 통제한 상태에서도 유의미하게 나타나, 고령화가 연금지출을 증가시키는 요인으로 나타났다. 다만 신사회적 위험 정도가 높을수록 노인에 대한 현금지출 집중도는 낮아졌다. 넷째, 권력자원 이론은 재편기의 연금정책 국면에서는 설명력이 통계적으로 입증되지 않았다.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate changes in food consumption during the 1950's on the basis of articles that reflected national policy and changes in society during that time period. Many factors are involved in the development and changes in food consumption culture, and these factors can affect each other. As a result, the process involved in the development of food consumption culture acts as a living system. This study evaluated the food consumption culture during the 1950's because this period was subjected to obvious influences that may explain the modern food consumption market logic and commercialism. Changes in the national food consumption are dependent on natural changes such as income enlargement or cultural exchange with a foreign country. Accordingly, food consumption during the 1950's was influenced by changes in economical, social, and political needs. In addition, the influx of surplus agricultural products from the United States had an adverse effect on local agriculture and resulted in an increased external dependence on food during the 1950s. Moreover, the import of raw materials and simple manufacturing techniques led to the development of an industrial food processing industry that enabled accelerated mass production of food at a low-price. Furthermore, the importation of surplus agricultural products from the United States that were used as the raw materials for foods that had traditionally been produced domestically led to an increased burden and qualitative decline in the local food-service industry. Taken together, the results of this study indicate that during the 1950's fresh food began to be replaced with processed foods in Korea.

사전 자세에 따른 근전도 기반 손 제스처 인식 (Recognition of hand gestures with different prior postures using EMG signals)

  • 손 제스처의 인식은 구어 사용이 어려운 사람들의 의사소통을 위한 중요한 기술이다. 제스처 인식에 널리 사용되는 근전도 신호는 사전 자세에 따라 동작이 달라지기 때문에 제스처 인식의 어려움이 있을 것으로 예상되지만, 이에 관한 연구는 찾기 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 사전 자세에 따른 제스처 인식 성능의 변화를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 총 20명의 피험자에게서 사전 자세를 가지는 동작에 대한 근전도 신호를 측정하고, 제스처 인식을 실험하였다. 그 결과, 학습 및 테스트 데이터 간 사전 상태가 단일한 경우에는 평균 89.6%의 정확도를, 상이한 경우에는 평균 52.65%의 정확도를 보였다. 반면, 사전 자세를 모두 고려한 경우에는 정확도가 다시 회복됨을 발견하였다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서는 근전도를 활용하는 손 제스처 인식시에 사전 자세가 다양하게 고려하여야 함을 실험적으로 확인하였다.
