This study analyzes empirically the effects of financial cash flows and operating cash flows on R&D investment of firms listed on Korea Exchange. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows. Financial cash flows have a larger positive effect on R&D investment than operating cash flows do, implying that firms use more financial cash flows than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment that has information asymmetry problems. This results suggest that improving financial cash flows enhance R&D investment by increasing the predictability of cash flows and decreasing the volatility of cash flows by decreasing financial leverage. Financially constrained firms use much more financial cash flows than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment that has information asymmetry problems. Financial constraints are measured by proxy variables such as firm size and Hadlock and Pierce's(2010) HP index. This results suggest that improving financial cash flows is more important than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment of financially constrained firms. Moreover, firms use more financial cash flows for financing asset-counted R&D investment than for financing cost-counted R&D investment. Asset-counted R&D investment is counted in intangible assets on the Statement of Financial Position, whereas cost-counted R&D investment is counted in cost on the Income Statement. In conclusion, even after controlling for adjustment costs associated with R&D investment and the endogeneity problems of cash flow variables as well as other characteristic variables, the results show that financially constrained firms use much more financial cash flows than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment that has information asymmetry problems. Overall, this finding suggests that information asymmetry and financial constraints problems are likely to co-exist in financing R&D investment. This finding also contributes to the extant literature that examines investment-cash flow sensitivity by showing that financial cash flows have a larger effect on R&D investment rather than operating cash flows.
A precise and dense Bouguer anomaly is one of the most important data to improve the knowledge of our environment in the aspect of geophysics and physical geodesy. Besides the precise absolute gravity station net, we should consider two parts; one is to improve the precision in gravity measurement and correction of it, and the other is the density of measurement both in number and distribution. For the precise positioning, we have tested how we could use the GPS properly in gravity measurement, and deduced that the GPS measurement for 5 minutes would be effective when we used DGPS with two geodetic GPS receivers and the baseline was shorter than 40km. In this case we should use a precise geoid model such as PNU95. By applying this method, we are able to reduce the cost, time, and number of surveyors, furthermore we also get the benefit of improving in quality. Two kind of computer programs were developed to correct crossover errors and to calculate terrain effects more precisely. The repeated measurements on the same stations in gravity surveying are helpful not only to correct the drifts of spring but also to approach the results statistically by applying network adjustment. So we can find out the blunders of various causes easily and also able to estimate the quality of the measurements. The recent developments in computer technology, digital elevation data, and precise positioning also stimulate us to improve the Bouguer anomaly by more precise terrain correction. The gravity data of various sources, such as land gravity data (by Choi, NGI, etc.), marine gravity data (by NORI), Bouguer anomaly map of North Korea, Japanese gravity data, altimetry satellite data, and EGM96 geopotential model, were collected and processed to get a precise and dense Bouguer anomaly in and around the Korean Peninsula.
As the local bus service diagram after the bus route reform is studied by variable analysis based on traffic card data and income adjustment data, the characteristic of the local bus system is revealed in Busan Metropolitan city. The relationship between traveling length and traveling time is influenced by traveling velocity. In order to keep a headway within 10 minutes, bus service number per minute should be over 0.1013 vehicles. The traveling time of afternoon is generally longer than that of forenoon. Compared with the bus used by a lot people, the deviation of that used by a few people is larger in the all cases of length, headway, time and velocity. According to the analysis of the relationship among card trip number, average income and transfer rate, the relationship between card trip number and average income is expressed as linear function in the general bus and as exponential function in the high-grade & rapid bus. The 1% increase of transfer rate is equal to 6.3 trip/vehicle/day decrease and 4.9 trip/vehicle/day decrease in two bus types respectively. The four effective variables are defined by the discriminant analysis between the profitable routes and the unprofitable; According to discriminant size, bus service number per km, bus via suburb, subway meeting number, bus via university. In order to increase the income when the minibus will be included among public transit transfer system in 2008, it should be necessary to settle the bus network and revitalize the public transit better. In order to decrease the cost, it should be necessary to reorganize the hierarchy between the local bus and the minibus better.

The morphology of mesoporous $TiO_2$ films plays an important role in the operation of a DSSC. For example, the energy conversion efficiency of DSSCs with well-organized mesoporous $TiO_2$ films is much higher than those with traditional films possessing a random morphology. In previous research, well-organized mesoporous $TiO_2$ films have mainly been synthesized using an amphiphilic block copolymer, e.g., a poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based template. A graft copolymer is more attractive than a block copolymer due to its low cost and the ease with which it can be synthesized. In this work, we provide the first report on the successful synthesis of well-organized mesoporous $TiO_2$ films templated by an organized graft copolymer as a structure directing agent. Well-organized mesoporous $TiO_2$ films with excellent channel connectivities were developed via the sol gel processusing an organized PVC-g-POEM graft copolymer synthesized by one-pot ATRP. The careful adjustment of copolymer composition and solvent affinity using a THF/$H_2O$/HCl mixture was used to systematically vary the material structure. The influence of the material structure on solar cell performance was then investigated. A solid-state DSSC employing both the graft copolymer templated organized 700 nm-thick $TiO_2$ films and graft copolymer electrolytes exhibited a solar conversion efficiency of 2.2% at 100 $mW/cm^2$. This value was approximately two-fold higher than that attained from a DSSC employing a random mesoporous $TiO_2$ film. The solar cell performance was maximized at 4.6% when the film thickness was increased to $2.5{\mu}m$. We believe that this graft copolymer-directed approach introduces a new and simple route toward the synthesis of well-organized metal oxide films as an alternative to a conventional block copolymer-based template.

This study had been aimed to conduct the camera calibration on VLBI antenna in the Space Geodetic Observation Center of Sejong City with a low-cost digital camera, which embedded in a mobile phone to determine the three-dimension position coordinates of the VLBI antenna, based on stereo images. The initial values for the camera calibration have been obtained by utilizing the Direct Linear Transformation algorithm and the commercial digital photogrammetry system, PhotoModeler $Scanner^{(R)}$ ver. 6.0, respectively. The accuracy of camera calibration results was compared with that the camera calibration results, acquired by a bundle adjustment with nonlinear collinearity condition equation. Although two methods showed significant differences in the initial value, the final calibration demonstrated the consistent results whichever methods had been performed for obtaining the initial value. Furthermore, those three-dimensional coordinates of feature points of the VLBI antenna were respectively calculated using the camera calibration by the two methods to be compared with the reference coordinates obtained from a total station. In fact, both methods have resulted out a same standard deviation of $X=0.004{\pm}0.010m$, $Y=0.001{\pm}0.015m$, $Z=0.009{\pm}0.017m$, that of showing a high degree of accuracy in centimeters. From the result, we can conclude that a mobile phone camera opens up the way for a variety of image processing studies, such as 3D reconstruction from images captured.
Encouraged by the investment in the rice paddy, the introduction of new varieties (Tong-Il), and the price support program, there has been great success in increasing rice production. Meanwhile, the demand for rice has decreased rapidly as per capita income continues to rise. Rice self-sufficiency has been attained, and a new over-supply problem is emerging. Moreover, the Uruguay Round Agricultural Negotiation would prohibit government price support for agricultural products. In October the Korean government decides the government purchase amount and support price, which works as the price guideline. All interested parties exert political efforts to influence the decision. The continued increase of the government purchase price of rice due to political pressure pushed the government purchase price above the market wholesale price in 1988. Also, the farmers preferred to sell to the government than to the wholesaler. This has discouraged the market mechanism, and the government is to take over the three functions of the market mechanism: stockpiling, seasonal price fluctuation adjustment, and circulation. Another big increase may cause the government purchase price to rise above the consumer price, which might lead to arbitrage opportunities for the farmers and suffocate the market mechanism. However, the current political situations limits the options for the Korean government. This paper argues that a supply control policy will reduce the social cost resulting from the high level of producer price support, and it proposes several second best policies: First, the production of new varieties should be reduced rapidly. Second, the old rice in the government warehouse should be auctioned or disposed of in order to reduce the government handling and management costs. Third, the acreage diversion program should be launched in order to control rice paddy acreage. Fourth, a social welfare program in rural areas should be introduced, since the share of population over 60 is increasing rapidly. Fifth, instead of the price support which is forbidden by the Uruguay Round, Korea should restructure the agricultural industry by developing new crops, by enhancing productivity and by improving the agricultural infrastructure.
A new type of modular mirror manipulator with independent adjustability was developed for the EPU6 beamline under construction at the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory. The mirror manipulator was designed so that the angular displacements of roll and pitch rotations do not introduce translational displacements and are independent with each other by positioning the mirror center to the center of a newly devised spherical joint. Manipulating its roll and pitch micrometers, the rotation angles of a dummy mirror were measured at an accuracy of 5 $\mu$rad using a gravity-referenced inclinometer. While the designed angular resolution was 3.937 $\mu$rad/$\mu\textrm{m}$, measured angular resolutions were 3.94 $\mu$rad/$\mu\textrm{m}$ for roll rotation and 3.85 $\mu$rad/$\mu\textrm{m}$ for pitch rotation. The effect of roll rotation on pitch angles was measured to be -3.18% and the effect of pitch rotation on roll angles was measured to be -5.21%. As the mirror manipulator was designed with emphases on independent adjustability and standardization, it results in eases of manufacturing, installation and adjustment as well as reductions of development period and design cost of mirror manipulators for various types of mirrors.
The experiment was carried out to investigate the productivity of freshwater rotifer, Brachionus calyciflorus and marine rotifer, B. rotundiformis at various temperatures, initial inoculation and pH in a 5 L semi-continuous high density culture. Rotifers were fed by commercial condensed freshwater Chlorella. When pH was not controlled, average daily productions of freshwater and marine rotifers increased with temperature. The highest production, $44\times10^6$ rotifers, was achieved of B. calyciflorus at $32^{\circ}C$ and the possible production lasting period of B. calyciflorus was shorter than that of B. rotundiformis. Under the adjustment of pH at 7, the possible production lasting periods of B. calyciflorus and B. rotundiformis inoculated with 5,000 inds./mL were longer than those of rotifers inoculated with 10,000 inds./mL, and the daily production rate of the former was higher than that of the latter. The results from this study indicated that optimum density of the initial inoculation for the cultivation of B. calyciflorus and B. rotundiformis was 5,000 inds,/mL under the controlled conditions of pH 7 and at $32^{\circ}C$ in a semi-continuous high density culture, in terms of production rate and food cost aspects.
Recently, studies on cognitive control revealed that the optimal level of control is determined on the basis of reward and cost. The value of reward can be subjective and therefore, the optimal control strength can vary accordingly. The inconsistent effect of aging on cognitive control can be the result of flexible adjustment of control signal strength made by the older subjects. In other words, the elderly people maintains the ability to set the optimal level of control, which is known as the function of the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex. On the other hand, the age-related decline in cognitive control is obvious in rule maintenance and inhibition, which has to do with the function of lateral prefrontal cortex. In this study, we had young and old adults perform go-no go task and compared the behavioral and neural results for different reward conditions. Both age groups showed the best performance and the largest ERN amplitude when the reward was most appealing to them. And there was no age effect in ERN amplitude even though older adults' d' and accuracy was inferior to younger participants. These findings suggest that the effect aging on different cognitive control processes can be asymmetric.
The purpose of this study was to improve productivity for maximum effects with the present equipments and staff. This study compared and analyzed the mea-sured time by using stop watch method and MTM, which was the new measuring method. The flow and results of this study were as follows: 1. This study investigated the theoretical background the efficiency for production management, and the way of productivity improvement through documentary research. 2. Setting up the standard flow on the experi-mental company production, making out a process chart and measuring the actual working hour. 3. The study measured the allowance time applying work sampling. 4. Each process of the movement analysis was filmed by video to use basic data. 5. MTM analysis was taken by choosing 10 processes from front bodice according to the basic movement of MTM. Through the results, this study exclude unneccesary movements and suggest a method for working ways. 6. Using the actual working hour measured by a stop watch calculated the pitch time and presumed the amount of daily productivity. 7. The result of the work sampling came out as 38% of allowance rate. It was 13% higher than the standard amount of woman's jacket allowance rate, which was 25%. The most influencing factor was work discussion. That was because there were commuication problem of the work way between the operator and leader. More adequate use of flow table and level passing table was needed. There were the problems that inappropriate places and sizes made the distance of movements longer and often needed more adjustment of works and surroundings. To prevent breakdowns equipments check ups were necessary before works. 8. The results of MTM analysis were as follow : the time was reduced 40% than the actual measured time by a stop watch. This was because the leveling of the operator was included in the real calculation. Also, leveling was included in MTM analysis and all the conditions were standarized. Therefore MTM method was a scientidic measuring way of establishing the standard time. The presented method of this study, suggested an ideal method eliminating unneccesary motions, and presented standardization of works. Improvement of working methods, work condition and simplifying motions in each 10 processes reduced the working time from total 656 seconds to 301 seconds. 9. The way and time of working was linked together in the MTM analysis methods. Thus data from MTM help suggest not only establishing standard time but also establishing stan-dard work. Plus it includes various ability for improvements of working ways. So it is an objective method which can be widely used in other work studies. 10. The function of a time study is to determine the amount of work produced with a given method. The work rate is used to establish the cost of labor. The wage of worker must be calculated per unit time which is deter-mined before the time study is made. This study tried to introduce the incentive rule for deciding wages according to the standard time by MTM method.
