  • In the theory of undirected simple graphs, we introduce the concept of adjacent topological spaces and analyze the minimization of open sets within these spaces. We define the continuity property of mappings between two adjacent topological spaces associated with undirected simple graphs and explore the connections between homeomorphic adjacent topological spaces and isomorphic graphs. Additionally, we investigate the compactness of adjacent topological spaces and examine the relationship between the connectedness of these spaces and the graphs.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to effectively split the adjacent baggage that is moving on high speed conveyor of airport. The proposed method calculate the Angle Histogram(AH) that inspects background pixels within radius r based on the center point of the adjacent baggage. After that, the adjacent baggage is segmented by finding split angles at the AH. We also improved the split quality of adjoining baggage by repeatedly correcting the center point to correctly split adjacent baggage of asymmetric size. And the calculation time of AH is reduced about 1/3 by using the symmetry property of the circle. Experiments have shown that 93% of all adjacent baggage images are correctly segmented and the proposed method is effective.

  • In this paper, we analyze the Hamiltonian property of Pyramid graphs. We prove that it is always possible to construct a Hamiltonian cycle of length $(4^N-1)/3$ by applying the proposed algorithm to construct series of cycle expansion operations into two adjacent cycles in the Pyramid graph of height N.

  • The Korea Forest Service(KFS) has been initiating restoration activities of ridgeline in damaged and fragmented areas of Baekdudaegan since 2011. Completed project in Ihwaryeong, Yuksimnyeong & Beoljae(2012; 2013) were selected as sites for this study. The changes in microclimate condition, vegetation composition and soil properties between project sites and adjacent stands were compared to evaluate the effect of restoration at early stage(after 2years). Pinus densiflora was planted mainly for these restoration sites, however Robinia pseudoacacia and Alnus sibirica invaded the area two years after the restoration activities. Ihwaryeong showed the most changes in understory vegetation among the study sites. Exotic species, such as Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Oenothera odorata, Erigeron annuus, and Coreopsis tinctoria invaded Ihwaryeong, and the dominance have invaded currently. It resulted from the poor survival rate of trees and high difference in microclimate wherein there's an increased temperature and decreased humidity in both restored sites and adjacent stands. In addition, it is also caused by poor soil chemical property, especially pH and organic matter content due to lack of humus layer and its accumulation, compared to adjacent forest soil in restored sites. Significant difference on chemical soil property was observed between restored sites and adjacent forest but no significant difference was observed after two years of restoration. Ecological monitoring is needed to understand the ecological changes after restoration and to establish a long-term management strategy.

  • This study investigated modern architectures adjacent to the road, which can be easily destroyed by economic logic. The purpose of this paper is to find the method to preserve and reuse as townscape. The research methods were used the literature survey and field research of modern architecture in Seoul, and compared with the current status. The result are as followings. Firstly, In order to preserve many architectural cultural properties, the policy related to cultural property should be improved. And, awareness of the individual about cultural property should be changed. Secondly, it has been analyzed that modern architecture can be divided into 3 types in the reuse, which is 'Succession Type', 'Change Type', and 'Extinction Type'. Most of the cases has been used for specific use. Therefore, we should be consider the method of the reuse which can accommodate the various contemporary use. Thirdly, the preservation of the appearance and facade, which is the optimal way to preserve at least the historicity of the city, would be suitable for the preservation of modern architecture adjacent to the road. Lastly, it has been analyzed that the cases can be divided into 2 types in the form of appearance, which is 'Modern Type' and 'Hanok Type'. And, common and individual design guidelines have made.

  • We present an efficient exponentiation algorithm for a finite field $GF(2^n)$ determined by an optimal normal basis of type II using signed digit representation of the exponents. Our signed digit representation uses a non-adjacent form (NAF) for $GF(2^n)$. It is generally believed that a signed digit representation is hard to use when a normal basis is given because the inversion of a normal element requires quite a computational delay. However our result shows that a special normal basis, called an optimal normal basis (ONB) of type II, has a nice property which admits an effective exponentiation using signed digit representations of the exponents.

  • Outdoor storage fires have a significant impact on the surrounding environment, including adjacent storage facilities and buildings. Therefore, it is essential to review and manage the fire impact to minimize damage to human life and property on the outdoor storage fires. In this study, the heat release rate and radiant heat flux were simulated according to the fire time, wind veolcity, and presence or absence of water spray equipment in an outdoor storage facility fire, and the fire impact was analyzed. The outdoor storage was designed to simulate two scenarios on the outdoor storage fires containing gasoline, and FDS was used for fire simulation. As a results, when the water spray facility was not operating and the wind velocity was 5 m/s, the maximum radiant heat flux was 24.80 kW/m2, which exceeded the limit radiant heat flux of 20 kW/m2. When the water spray facility was operating and the wind veolcity was 10 m/s, the maximum radiant heat flux was 18.77 kW/m2, which did not exceed the limit radiant heat flux, indicating that the fire impact on adjacent storage facilities was relatively small.

  • New infrastructures and buildings are being constructed increasingly in congested urban areas, and excavation-induced ground movements often cause distortion and damage to adjacent buildings. Protection of adjacent structures occupies a major part of the cost, schedule and third-party impacts of urban development. To limit damage or mitigate their effects on nearby structures, it is highly important to understand the whole mechanism from excavation to building damage, and to estimate building damage reliably before excavation and provide appropriate measures. This paper investigates the effects of excavation-induced ground movements on nearby structures, considering soil-structure interactions for ground and structures, and a building damage criterion, which is based on the state of strain, is proposed. The criterion is compared with other existing damage estimation criteria and a procedure is finally provided for estimating building damage due to excavation-induced ground movements.

  • In the case of the fire to the exterior of the building through openings, the openings of the adjacent building are exposed to the risk of combustion expanding and factors that affect the combustion in the radiant heat and direct flame. Recent five years, fire of the adjacent building indicated that incidence of the 5,134(2.27%) among total 225,934 cases occurred The damage scale of fire expanded was lower than in a single building but casualties(5.46%) and property(25.0%) damage were higher. Therefore, this study provides to analyze the operating status for fire protection equipment of fire-preventing area in the Seoul and to apply measures to improve fire protection equipment according to narrow the distance between the building openings studied.

  • In order to increase the performance of spatial database systems, a spatial indexing method is necessary to manage spatial objects efficiently in both dynamic and static environments. A spatial indexing method considering a spatial locality is required to increase the retrieval performance. And the spatial locality is related to the location property of objects. The previous spatial indexing methods did not consider the circular location property of objects. In this paper, we introduce the CR-Tree that is a spatial index structure for clustering spatially adjacent objects in which a search space is constructed with the circular and linear domains. Using a spatial index structure considered a circular location property of objects, we show that high hit ratio and bucket utilization are increased through the simulation.
