  • This paper presents a novel channel capacity maximization method for a distorted $2{\times}2$ line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) link. A LOS MIMO link may be distorted by the influence of environmental factors such that the channel capacity of the LOS MIMO link may be degraded. By using the proposed method, the channel capacity of a distorted $2{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link can be the same as that of the ideal $2{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link. The proposed method employs an additional receiver antenna to maximize the channel capacity. In contrast to a $3{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link, a receiver circuit for a third receiving antenna is not necessary. Hence, the receiver for the proposed method is much simpler than that for a $3{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link. We determine the optimal position of the additional receiver antenna analytically. Simulation results show that the channel capacity can approach the ideal using the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose novel optics design for media inside near-field recording(NFR) using hemispherical solid immersion lens(HMS). To obtain strong advantage of data protection and high data capacity simultaneously, HMS based near field optics using aplanatic position of super hemisphere is designed. In this design, to improve small optical tolerance of this aplanatic position, additional aspheric lens surface is added on top of the HMS and it is combined with zoom optics which composed of two single lenses having low numerical aperture(NA). Also, to compensate chromatic aberration which happens seriously in optics using blue laser diode, diffractive optical element is used. Using zoom optics, additional aspheric lens surface, and diffractive optical element together, wavefront aberration and chromatic aberration are effectively reduced in broad range of cover layer thickness and wavelength variation. In addition, in this paper, effect of gap induced aberration is investigated by analyzing different behavior of each TM and TE wave for designed media inside dual-layer NFR optics.

  • For the low power wireless installations, limited frequency resources are divided by use for their effective use and are assigned. Moreover, output strength is limited according to the frequency used in order to protect other wireless stations from interference caused by radio waves emitted from the low power wireless installations. For receivers, unwanted spurious emission is regulated, and regulations in Korea define that additional spurious emission for receivers in the low power wireless installations under 1GHz should be -54dBm, but no regulations have been established yet for low power wireless installations over 1GHz. It is presently required to set domestic standards for devices over 1GHz on account of the expansion of the communication market and its service.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient scene based non-uniformity correction algorithm which performs the offset correction using the uniform obtained from input scenes for Infrared camera. In general, pixel outputs of a infrared detector can not be uniform. Therefore, the non-uniformity correction procedure need to be performed to make the image outputs uniform. A typical non-uniformity correction method uses a black body at the laboratory to obtain the output of the infrared detector's pixels for two temperatures, HOT and COLD, and calculates the non-uniformity correction parameters. However, output characteristics of the Infrared detector changes while the Infrared camera is operated, the fixed pattern noise of the Infrared detector and dead pixels are generated. To remove the noise, the offset correction is generally performed. The offset correction procedure usually need the additional device such as a thermo-electric cooler, shutter, or non-uniformity correction lens. Therefore, we introduce a general scene based non-uniformity correction technique without additional equipment, and then we propose an improved non-uniformity correction algorithm based on image to solve the problem of the existing technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a block mapping technique applicable to NAND flash memory. In order to use the NAND flash memory with the operating system and the file system developed on the basis of the hard disk which is mainly used in the general PC field, it is necessary to use the system software known as the FTL (Flash Translation Layer). FTL overcomes the disadvantage of not being able to overwrite data by using the address mapping table and solves the additional features caused by the physical structure of NAND flash memory. In this paper, we propose a new mapping method based on the block mapping method for efficient use of the NAND flash memory. In the case of the proposed technique, the data modification operation is processed by using a blank page in the existing block without using an additional block for the data modification operation, thereby minimizing the block unit deletion operation in the merging operation. Also, the frequency of occurrence of the sequential write request and random write request Accordingly, by optimally adjusting the ratio of pages for recording data in a block and pages for recording data requested for modification, it is possible to optimize sequential writing and random writing by maximizing the utilization of pages in a block.

  • Mobile wallets have been in continuous demand and developed over the past few years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several studies have examined user intentions and perspectives. This study develops a conceptual model combining behavioral factors with the technology acceptance model (TAM). The goal is to identify key factors that influence user's intention to adopt mobile payments. This study uses the TAM and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) models with additional factors. The additional factors are security, trust, facilitating conditions, and lifestyle compatibility. The study analyzes the results of a survey of 394 Saudi citizens conducted via an online survey. The results indicate that user attitudes and intentions are positively influenced by all of the factors. Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, lifestyle compatibility, and facilitating conditions are direct predictors of user behavior in accepting mobile wallet payments. This study provides an empirical contribution to the literature on mobile payment acceptance on the effect of perceived usefulness and lifestyle compatibility. The results demonstrate that about 26% of the respondents started using mobile wallet services because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The purchase-related responses of MZ generation consumers may vary depending on the environmental factors of the fitting room. Therefore, this study extracted and systematized fitting room characteristics in the retail fashion environment. In-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 50 informants to collect data on the experience of using the fitting room. Then, a qualitative analysis was performed. First, results confirmed that the environmental factors of the fitting room include physical (spatiality, functionality, comfort, and convenience) and human (interactivity and congestion) aspects. Next, additional analysis was performed on functionality and interactivity to clarify the influence of environmental characteristics of the fitting room. These factors were classified into qualitative categories. The study results confirmed that, in the case of functionality, preferred lighting and mirror factors vary depending on the clothing product type, the place and situation for wearing, and individual characteristics. Furthermore, regarding interactivity, the preference for the presence of sales staff or companions differed according to personal traits and the need for additional information and evaluation. The study provides valuable information for effective fitting room space planning for offline fashion stores to meet the needs of MZ generation consumers.

  • Augmented reality (AR) technology assists construction workers by superimposing additional virtual information onto their real worksite environments. Ideally, this provides them with a better understanding of their tasks and hence boosts task performance. However, the additional information that AR places in users' field of view could limit their ability to understand what is going on in their surroundings and to predict how conditions may change in the near future. AR-assisted systems on construction sites could therefore expose their users to safety risks due to disturbance from the system. Hence, it is important to understand how AR-assisted systems can block users' understanding of their immediate environments, and in turn, how worksite safety in the construction industry could be improved through better design of such systems. This preliminary research conducted a laboratory experiment that simulated rebar inspection tasks and compared the situational awareness of AR users against that of subjects using traditional paper-based inspection methods, as measured by the Situation Awareness Rating Technique. Based on the results, we discuss the safety impact of head-mounted AR-assisted displays on situational awareness during construction tasks.

  • The password rules to be applied for the user account creation are often different by websites. Thus we often forget the password to sign in website and it creates waste of time for frequent password reset. In order to solve this problem we propose a new authentication method in this paper. When user forget the password to sign in, the existing methods require a password reset step but our proposed method provides new sign in scheme through the additional authentication step with base password and personal information registered at the member sign up stage. From the result of performance comparison the proposed method is considered to be more efficient than others because it provides not only an equivalent level of security with others but also requires only a half of the number of transactions and the time required for password reset step.
