  • In electrochemical glucose sensing, the enhancement of the sensitivity and the response time is essential in developing stable and reliable sensors, especially for continuous glucose monitoring. We developed a method to increase the sensitivity and to shorten the response time for the sensing upon the appropriate addition of single wall carbon nanotube onto the osmium polymer-based hydrogel electrode. Also, the background stabilization is dramatically enhanced.

  • In this paper, we propose the softwareization of broadcasting system. Recently, the topic of industry is the fourth industrial revolution. The fourth industrial revolution is evolving from physical to virtualization. The Industrial Revolution is based on IT technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and the Internet of Things, which are famous for Alpha Go, are based on software. Among IT, software is the main driver of industrial terrain change. The systemization of software on the basis of cloud environment is proceeding rapidly. System development through softwarization can reduce time to market lead time, hardware cost reduction and manual operation compared to existing hardware system. By developing and implementing broadcasting system such as IPTV based on cloud, lead time for opening service compared to existing hardware system can be shortened by more than 90% and investment cost can be saved by about 40%. In addition, the area of the system can be reduced by 50%. In addition, efficiency can be improved between infrastructures, shortening of trouble handling and ease of maintenance. Finally, we can improve customer experience through rapid service opening.

  • Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3 (PZT) ceramics having different microstructures were fabricated at low temperatures using calcined PZT powders with addition of excess PbO powder and/or ball milling. The effects of excess PbO and ball milling time on the microstructure, the sintering characteristic, and the mechanical properties of these ceramics were studied. Fine powders with average particle size of 0.38㎛ could be obtained by ball milling with 2.5 mm Ф zirconia balls for 120 hours. By the addition of 2mol% of excess PbO to these powders, it was possible to obtain well-densitified PZT ceramics at low sintering temperature of 980℃. Densification behavior of PZT was affected by the addition of excess PbO powder, while, grain growth was hardly affected by PbO addition. It was observed that Vicker's hardness decreased and fracture toughness increased with the increasing amount of PbO. At 1mol% excess PbO, it was shown that the minimum values of hardness and maximum fracture toughness were achieved. In addition, with increasing sintering time, the fracture toughness decreased and the hardness increased.

  • The effects of some chemicals for the germinative stimulation of Clostridium chauvoei spore studied. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Cooked meat medium (CMM) was superior to Liver-liver bouillon (LLB) for cultivation of the organisms. 2. Heating the organisms at $70^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes prior to cultivation in CMM stimulated the germination rate. 3. The addition of 0.5mM L-alanine to CMM was found to be most effective for the rapid germination of the spores. 4. The addition of 0.2 mM D-alanine to CMM inhibited the germination of the spores even if the spores were heat treated. 5. The addition of 0.1mM manganese retarded the germination time, but the final germination rate was greater with 0.1mM manganese than with 0.5mM L-alanine. 6. The addition of both 0.5mM L-alanine and 0.1mM manganese stimulated the germination rate to 100 per cent. 7. The germination rate was greater with the addition of germination stimulants than without any stimulants. The germination rate was approximately 6 per cent greater with prior heat treatment than without heat treatment. 8. The optimum time for the harvest of vegetative forms of the organisms was 15 hours after cultivation in the media which contain suitable germination stimulants.

  • As the properties of the melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins were changing during their storage time, this study investigated the impacts of the synthesis method and melamine content of the MUF resins on the pH, apparent viscosity, molecular weights, and crystallinity to estimate these properties over storage times of up to 30 days. Melaminesat three addition levels (5, 10, and 20 wt% based on the resin solids) were simultaneously reacted with urea and formaldehyde (MUF-A resins), while those at the same addition levels were first reacted with formaldehyde and then with urea(MUF-B resins). The pH values of the MUF-A and MUF-B resins decreased linearly as the storage time increased; the apparent viscosity increased linearly for the low melamine contents (5% and 10%) but increased exponentially for 20%. As anticipated, the molecular weights (Mw and Mn) increased linearly with the storage time, with a steeper increase in the Mw of the MUF-B resins compared with that of the MUF-A resins. The crystallinity of the two resin types decreased with storage time at higher melamine content. The relationships between these properties and the storage time made it possible to estimate the property changes in these resins synthesized by the different synthesis methods and melamine contents; this could help predict the properties of such resins in the industry during their storage.

  • To investigate the effect of natural plants on the prolongation of optimal fermentation time of kakdugi, various kakdugies, added with hot water extract from 105 kinds of natural plants(68 medicinal plants and 37 vegetables), were fermented at 20oC until optimal fermentation time. In case of control without addition, the time required to reach the optimum acidity(0.6% lactic acid) was 60 hr. Among 105 kinds tested, 48 plant(42 medicinal plants and 6vegetables) extracts decreased the acidity after 60 hr fermentation to less than 50% of control. In addition, these extracts extended the optimal fermen tation time(>120 hr) by more than 2 folds. Moreover, among the above 48 kinds, 12 sorts of extracts raised the hardness of kakdugi, by more than 30%, compared to control. And the number of lactic acid bacteria in kakdugi added with the above 12 kinds was not smaller than that of control. In sensory test, 8 kinds of medicinal plants(including Phyllostachys edulis) were found to be acceptable. Based on these results, it is suggested that kakdugi added with 8 kinds of medicinal plants was adequate in the prolongation of optimal fermentation time of kakdugi.

  • The study was based on a three-stage, non-repetitive factorial experiment in which chemical-rotted kenaf fibers were treated separately with hydrogen peroxide concentrations of $0.5\%,\;1\%\;and\;2\%$, with pH solutions of 7, 9 and 11, and treatment times of 30, 60 and 90 minutes. Under optimal conditions, the study was conducted to determine the strength and elongation of kenaf fibers by the addition of chelators, penetrants and surfactants. The hydrogen peroxide concentration, solution pH and treatment time directly affected the strength of kenaf fibers. The hydrogen peroxide concentration, solution pH affected the elongation of kenaf fibers. It was found, however, that the interaction between pH and treatment time, concentration and treatment time, concentration and treatment time and pH affected the strength of kenaf fibers. Also, It was found that the interaction between pH and concentration, concentration and treatment time, concentration and treatment time and pH affected the elongation of kenaf fibers. Under the hydrogen peroxide conditions of $2\%$ concentration, pH 11 and a treatment time of 60 minutes, there were no effects on the strength and elongation of kenaf fibers with the addition of chelator SP, CA.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of autohydrolysis and extraction conditions on the separation of the chemical substances, the extractability of lignin by dioxane, and the yield of reducing sugars from cellulosic substrates by using a commercial cellulase derived from Trichoderma viride. Air-dried wood meals through 0.42mm (40 mesh) screen and retained on 0.25 mm (60 mesh) of Populus alba-glandulosa and Pinus koraiensis were autohydrolyzed with water at $180^{\circ}C$ for 30 and/or 60 minutes in a 6 liter stainless-steel digester with or without 2% 2-naphthol. The hydrothermally-treated wood meals were extracted the lignin with 100%, 90%, 75% and 50% dioxane solutions at $70^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours, respectively. The results obtained were as follows; 1) After autohydrolysis of Populus alba-glandulosa, the yield of wood meals decreased with lengthening the auto hydrolysis time from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and with 2% 2-naphthol addition. In case of Pinus koraiensis, the yield was not affected by 2%, 2-naphthol addition at the autohydrolysis in the digester. 2) After autohydrolysis and lignin extraction of Populus alba-glandulosa, the yield of wood meals decreased with lengthening the autohydrolysis time from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and with 2% 2-naphthol addition. Extraction of 50% dioxane solution was the best solvent for the yield among the solutions of 100%, 90%. 75% and 50% dioxane. In case of Pinus koraiensis, the yield was not affected by 2% 2-naphthol addition and the solution of 90% dioxane was the poorest solvent for the yield. 3) After autohydrolysis and lignin extraction of Populus alba-glandulosa, the Klason lignin content in cellulosic substrates for enzymatic hydrolysis decreased with lengthening the autohydrolysis time from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and with 2% 2-naphthol addition. Klason lignin content was the lowest after extraction by 90% or 75% dioxane solution. The content was also affected by interaction of the three factors-autohydrolysis time, 2% 2-naphthol addition and concentration of dioxane. In case of Pinus koraiensis, the Klason lignin content increased with 2% 2-naphthol addition but was not affected by the concentration of dioxane solution. 4) After autohydrolysis and lignin extraction of Populus alba-glandulosa, the extractable Klason lignin content by extraction increased with lengthening the auto hydrolysis time from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and with 2% 2-naphthol addition. The extractable lignin content was the highest after extraction by 90% or 75% dioxane solution. In case of Pinus koraiensis, the extractable lignin content increased with 2% 2-naphthol addition. Extractions by 100%, 90% and 50% dioxane solutions were more effective for the extraction of Klason lignin than by 75% dioxane solution. 5) After autohydrolysis and lignin extraction of Populus alba-glandulosa, the yield of reducing sugars increased with lengthening the autohydrolysis time from 30 minutes to 60 minutes but was not affected by 2% 2-naphthol addition and the concentration of dioxane. The yield of reducing sugars after enzymatic hydrolysis was slightly higher by extractions with 90%, 75% and 50% dioxane solutions than with 100% dioxane. In case of Pinus koraiensis, the yield of reducing sugars was not affected by 2% 2-naphthol addition but affected by the concentration of dioxane. The yield of reducing sugars was the highest in cellulosic substrates extracted by 100% dioxane solution.

  • This study describes the production of functional Ssukgaen Dduk though the addition of yam and mugwort to Goami 2, a healthy diet and diabetes. In this study, the rice is soaked for many hours and the particle size distribution of the rice was determined as a function of the water-soaking time. The produce Ssukgaen Dduk was repeated after the addition of varying concentration of yam. Non-glutinous rice was soaked for 4, 8, 12 hours and the Goami 2 rice was soaked for 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 hours and ground to a powder and passed through a 18~30 mesh sieve to determine the particle size distribution of the rice as a function of water-soaking time. Using this approach, optimal soaking time for Dduk was found to be 4 hours for non-glutinous rice(pass rate of 30 mesh: 58.29%) and 12 hours for Goami 2(pass rate of 30 mesh: 87.88%). When Ssukgaen Dduk made with Goami 2 rice powder only and those made with varying amounts of yam(10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) were subjected to the sensory test, the control group(non-glutinous rice Ssukgaen Dduk) had the highest preference in general(3.73). Out of Ssukgaen Dduk containing yam, the S4 group, which contained 30% yam, had the highest preference(2.87) In addition the S4 group also had the highest extent of soft, and delicacy of texture general preference of S5, 40% the lowest(2.37), S1 only Goami 2 the hardness(112.59), as 91.46 lower (83.85) yam increased, the less hard the texture Ssukgaen Dduk. In conclusion Ssukgaen Dduk though the addition of mugwort and yam to the Goami 2 rice, it would be better to add 30% yam to 70% Goami 2 rice powder mixed with mugwort.
