Real-Time Road Sign Detection Using Vertical Plane and Adaboost (수직면과 아다부스트를 사용한 실시간 교통 표지판 검출)

  • This paper describes a vision-based and real-time system for detecting road signs from within a moving vehicle. The proposed system has the standard architecture with adaboost algorithm to detect road signs in real time. And it uses the value of vortical plane in the process of extracting candidate areas in view of fact that there are vertically most of signs on roads. Although being useful for detecting objects in real time, the conventional adaboost algorithm deteriorates the performance of detection rate in complex circumstance by reason of using only integral images as features. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes the method that improves the reliability of candidates as using the value of vertical plane for extracting candidate area and improves the performance of the detection rate as using integral images to which we add the kind of feature prototype. The experiments of this paper show that the detection rate of the proposed method has higher than that of the conventional adaboost algorithm under the real complex circumstance of roads.

Robust vehicle Detection in Rainy Situation with Adaboost Using CLAHE (우천 상황에 강인한 CLAHE를 적용한 Adaboost 기반 차량 검출 방법)

  • This paper proposes a robust vehicle detecting method by using Adaboost and CLAHE(Contrast-Limit Adaptive Histogram Equalization). We propose two method to detect vehicle effectively. First, we are able to judge rainy and night by converting RGB value to brightness. Second, we can detect a taillight, designate a ROI(Region Of Interest) by using CLAHE. And then, we choose an Adaboost algorithm by comparing traditional vehicle detecting method such as GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model), Optical flow and Adaboost. In this paper, we use proposed method and get better performance of detecting vehicle. The precision and recall score of proposed method are 0.85 and 0.87. That scores are better than GMM and optical flow.

  • In China, Weibo is one of the social platforms with more users. It has the characteristics of fast information transmission and wide coverage. People can comment on a certain event on Weibo to express their emotions and attitudes. Judging the emotional tendency of users' comments is not only beneficial to the monitoring of the management department, but also has very high application value for rumor suppression, public opinion guidance, and marketing. This paper proposes a two-input Adaboost model based on TextCNN and BiLSTM. Use the TextCNN model that can perform local feature extraction and the BiLSTM model that can perform global feature extraction to process comment data in parallel. Finally, the classification results of the two models are fused through the improved Adaboost algorithm to improve the accuracy of text classification.

  • This paper presents a method for real-time face detection and tracking which combined Adaboost and Camshift algorithm. Adaboost algorithm is a method which selects an important feature called weak classifier among many possible image features by tuning weight of each feature from learning candidates. Even though excellent performance extracting the object, computing time of the algorithm is very high with window size of multi-scale to search image region. So direct application of the method is not easy for real-time tasks such as multi-task OS, robot, and mobile environment. But CAMshift method is an improvement of Mean-shift algorithm for the video streaming environment and track the interesting object at high speed based on hue value of the target region. The detection efficiency of the method is not good for environment of dynamic illumination. We propose a combined method of Adaboost and CAMshift to improve the computing speed with good face detection performance. The method was proved for real image sequences including single and more faces.

A Study for Video-based Vehicle Surveillance on Outdoor Road (실외 도로에서의 영상기반 차량 감시에 관한 연구)

  • Detection performance of the vehicle on the road depends on weather conditions, the shadow by the movement of the sun, or illumination changes, etc. In this paper, a vehicle detection system in conjunction with a robust background estimate algorithm to environment change on the road in daytime is proposed. Gaussian Mixture Model is applied as background estimation algorithm, and also, Adaboost algorithm is applied to detect the vehicle for candidate region. Through the experiments with input videos obtained from a various weather conditions at the same actual road, the proposed algorithm were useful to detect vehicles in the road.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect and track the human face with a GPU-based high speed. Basically the detection algorithm uses the existing Adaboost algorithm but the search area is dramatically reduced by detecting movement and skin color region. Differently from detection process, tracking algorithm uses only depth information. Basically it uses a template matching method such that it searches a matched block to the template. Also, In order to fast track the face, it was computed in parallel using GPU about the template matching. Experimental results show that the GPU speed when compared with the CPU has been increased to up to 49 times.

  • Fine dust is a substance that greatly affects human health, and various studies have been conducted in this regard. Due to the human influence of particulate matter, various studies are being conducted to predict particulate matter grade using past data measured in the monitoring network of Seoul city. In this paper, predictive model have focused on particulate matter concentration in May, 2019, Seoul. The air pollutant variables were used to training such as SO2, CO, NO2, O3. The predictive model based on Adaboost, and training model was dividing PM10 and PM2.5. As a result of the prediction performance comparison through confusion matrix, the Adaboost model was more conformable for predicting the particulate matter concentration grade. Although air pollutant variables have a higher correlation with PM2.5, training model need to train a lot of data and to use additional variables such as traffic volume to predict more effective PM10 and PM2.5 distribution grade.

  • This paper propose the hardware architecture of face detection hardware system using the AdaBoost algorithm. The proposed structure of face detection hardware system is possible to work in 30frame per second and in real time. And the AdaBoost algorithm is adopted to learn and generate the characteristics of the face data by Matlab, and finally detected the face using this data. This paper describes the face detection hardware structure composed of image scaler, integral image extraction, face comparing, memory interface, data grouper and detected result display. The proposed circuit is so designed to process one point in one cycle that the prosed design can process full HD($1920{\times}1080$) image at 70MHz, which is approximate $2316087{\times}30$ cycle. Furthermore, This paper use the reducing the word length by Overflow to reduce memory size. and the proposed structure for face detection has been designed using Verilog HDL and modified in Mentor Graphics Modelsim. The proposed structure has been work on 45MHz operating frequency and use 74,757 LUT in FPGA Xilinx Virtex-5 XC5LX330.

Implementation of Smart Video Surveillance System Based on Safety Map (안전지도와 연계한 지능형 영상보안 시스템 구현)

  • There are many CCTV cameras connected to the video surveillance and monitoring center for the safety of citizens, and it is difficult for a few monitoring agents to monitor many channels of videos. In this paper, we propose an intelligent video surveillance system utilizing a safety map to efficiently monitor many channels of CCTV camera videos. The safety map establishes the frequency of crime occurrence as a database, expresses the degree of crime risk and makes it possible for agents of the video surveillance center to pay attention when a woman enters the crime risk area. The proposed gender classification method is processed in the order of pedestrian detection, tracking and classification with deep training. The pedestrian detection and tracking uses Adaboost algorithm and probabilistic data association filter, respectively. In order to classify the gender of the pedestrian, relatively simple AlexNet is applied to determine gender. Experimental results show that the proposed gender classification method is more effective than the conventional algorithm. In addition, the results of implementation of intelligent video security system combined with safety map are introduced.

Automatic Indexing Algorithm of Golf Video Using Audio Information (오디오 정보를 이용한 골프 동영상 자동 색인 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes an automatic indexing algorithm of golf video using audio information. In the proposed algorithm, the input audio stream is demultiplexed into the stream of video and audio. By means of Adaboost-cascade classifier, the continuous audio stream is classified into announcer's speech segment recorded in studio, music segment accompanied with players' names on TV screen, reaction segment of audience according to the play, reporter's speech segment with field background, filed noise segment like wind or waves. And golf swing sound including drive shot, iron shot, and putting shot is detected by the method of impulse onset detection and modulation spectrum verification. The detected swing and applause are used effectively to index action or highlight unit. Compared with video based semantic analysis, main advantage of the proposed system is its small computation requirement so that it facilitates to apply the technology to embedded consumer electronic devices for fast browsing.
