Objectives : The purpose of this report is to show the clinical efficiency of korean medical treatments with Bee Venom pharmacopuncture therapy on patient of Trigeminal Neuralgia. Methods : The patient was treated with Bee Venom pharmacopuncture, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping venesection treatment, and herbal medicine. Visual Analog Scale was used to evaluate the improvement of pain after all treatments. Results : Visual Analog Scale was improved from 10 to 2 after korean medical treatment including Bee Venom pharmacopuncture. Conclusions : Korean medical treatments with Bee Venom pharmacopuncture can be effective for improving symptoms of Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Objective : "HangYak" and "GuGeupBang" were used as a book title in "HangYakGuGeupBang". Therefore we can examine the early years of the medical of HangYak and the medical of first-aid. Methods : We studied the contents and the characteristics of Acupuncture and External treatments which were presented in "HangYakGuGeupBang". We searched the practical meaning of the publishing it too. According to "HangYakGuGeupBang". Results : Acupuncture was performed as a simple external treatment; however moxibustion was used for various symptoms in several ways. In addition, many external treatments such as hot massages, the treatment of bath and dropping lotion in the eyes were introduced in "HangYakGuGeupBang". We believe that these materials were easily gotten around us so people who lived in a poor and remote village without a doctor could apply with ease if they learned these contents. Conclusions : As a result it can say that "HangYakGuGeupBang" was published as a practical book which could be used simply even though people didn't have enough medical knowledge nor examined inside and outside-heat and cold.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical effects of Korean medical treatments combined with Embedding acupuncture on patients with chronic lower back pain. Methods : We reviewed the medical records of 40 patients with chronic lowerback pain hospitalized at Dongshin Korean Medicine Hospital from March, 2015 to February, 2016. They were divided into two groups: the embedding acupuncture group(20 patients) and the non-embedding acupuncture group(20 patients). To evaluate the efficacy of the treatments, the 40 patients were asked to complete a Numerical Rating scale (NRS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) four times during admission. Results : The mean NRS of the embedding acupuncture group decreased more significantly than the non-embedding acupuncture group at days three and ten of admission. The ODI change and ODI rate of change of the embedding acupuncture group were significantly greater than the non-embedding acupuncture at days three and ten of admission. Conclusion : Korean medical treatment combined with embedding acupuncture might be effective in reducing pain and improving the life quality of patients with chronic lower back pain. We hope that further studies will be done to produce more clinical data and ensure effective application of these results.

Objectives: Recently several Korean medical doctors have begun practicing applied kinesiology (AK). Although the efficacy of combining traditional acupuncture (TA) and pharmacopuncture (PP) on lumbar diseases such as lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) and lumbar herniation of intervertebral disk (LHID) has been examined, the possible benefits of combining TA, PP and AK approaches have not been examined. Therefore the aim of this study was to develop effective treatment for lumbar disorders by combining TA, PP, and AK treatments. Methods: Twenty-four patients hospitalized at Samse Korean Traditional Medicine Hospital between March and September 2018 with L5 or S1 root radiculopathy associated with LSS and LHID were included in this study. They were treated for 10 days with TA, PP and AK approaches that included category block, manipulation and strain/counterstrain treatments. The primary outcomes were mainly assessed using Japanese Orthopedic Association lumbar scores (JOALS). JOALS were determined before the start of treatment as well as five and 10 days after treatment started. Results: The treatments improved the lumbar condition of the patients based on JOA pain score. Conclusion: The combined TA, PP and AK treatments were effective in treating spinal diseases of resident patients. Prospective, controlled, and relevant protocols using multimodal strategies to define the role of TA, PP and AK are needed.

Objectives : This study was performed to report the effect of oriental medical treatments on the 4 patients with lateral epicondylitis of the elbow. Methods : The 4 patients were treated by Bee Venom acupuncture, Dong-Qi acupuncture, acupuncture on tender points of the origin of the extensor carpi radialis and taping on the extensor carpi radialis. The state of patients was measured by visual analog scale(VAS), elbow range of motion(ROM) and patient's subjective symptom grade(PSSG). Results : After mean 9.5 times of treatments, the recovery of elbow ROM was measured and significant pain relief was seen as the average of VAS changed from 10 to 1.25 and average of PSSG changed from 2.75 to 0.5 grade. Conclusions : These results suggest that oriental medical treatments including Bee Venom acupuncture, Dong-Qi acupuncture, acupuncture, taping are effective to improve the lateral epicondylitis of the elbow.

Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effect of electroacupuncture at ciliao(BL32) on voiding pattern and uroflowmetry of patients with functional voiding disease. Methods Subjects were voluntarily recruited by newspaper·s and internet. All the subjects were confirmed as International Prostatism Symptom Score(IPSS), uroflowmetry, voiding diary, symptom. The acupuncture therapy was performed 3 times a week for 3 weeks by oriental medical doctor at hospital. Acupuncture points were BL32. The patient's symptoms were assessed before and after 3 weeks treatments by IPSS. Uroflowmetry for 5minutes and voiding diary for 48 hours was measured before and after 3 weeks treatments. Results : The results were as follows; 1. After 3 weeks compared to the pre-treatment, IPSS(QOL) scores were significantly unproved. 2. After 3 weeks compared to the pre-treatment, mean voiding volume, min voiding volume and mean voiding time on voiding daiary was significantly improved. 3. After 3 weeks compared to the pre-treatment, max flow velocity and mean flow velocity on uroflowmetry in spite of increase of voiding volume show a statistically significant difference. 4. Acupunctue had hardly some side effect compared to operation and medicines and was economical. Conclusion : This study suggests that acupuncture treatments can be applicable to improve symptoms in the patients with functional voiding disease. Further study on the acupuncture and other acupoints in the patients with functional voiding disease is recommended.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to obtain some knowledge about the acupuncture treatments on Parkinson's disease for the future practice and the research from the clinical studies in China. Methods : The literatures were searched using the data base-China Academic Journals (CAJ) (1994-2011). Clinical studies of acupuncture for Parkinson's disease such as randomized controlled trial (RCT), non-randomized controlled trial (NRCT), case series, case report were included. Results : Of 145 articles, 52 Clinical studies met our inclusion criteria: 20 RCTs, 7 NRCTs, 22 case series and 3 case reports. Various kinds of acupuncture treatments such as scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture, acupoint injection, eye acupuncture and thick needle acupuncture (粗鍼) were used in the clinical studies. The treatment and control groups take Madopa Tablet (Levodopa + Benserazide HCl) in the same time in many studies, and Madopa treatment was used as a comparative treatment in the most of studies. Acupuncture treatment was done daily or 2~3 times a week for 2~20 weeks. All of studies reported high effective rate in the treatment group compared to control group. Conclusions : The results of this study could be used for the future study about the acupuncture therapy for Parkinson's disease.

Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is a disease that narrows the spinal canal, causing neurological symptoms. To date, there have been several reports on traditional Korean medicine treatments for OPLL; however, there is no study on complex acupuncture treatment. Herein, we report 2 cases of cervical OPLL involving cervical pain, upper limb radiating pain, and hypoesthesia. The patients were diagnosed using C-spine computed tomography and did not receive any treatment at any other hospital. The patients were treated with acupuncture treatments, including electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and acupotomy, at Daegu Korean Medicine Hospital at Daegu Haany University. The results were assessed using the visual analog scale, neck disability index, and Japanese Orthopedic Association scores, and the results indicated an improvement in the symptoms. Thus, this study demonstrated that complex acupuncture treatment may be helpful for treating cervical OPLL and improving the quality of life.

As mentioned above, I have acquired some valuable results about medical treatments with acupuncture for "Tennis elbow" after studying oriental medical books. 1. In "HungTiNeiChing", there was called "joo-ryun" and "joo-mang" related to "Tennis elbow". 2. The medriens which remedy for 'tennis elbow' are as follow : 'Soo-yangmyoung', 'Soo-soyang', 'Soo-taeeum', 'Soo-gueleum', 'Chok-taeyang', 'Soo-taeyang' and 'Soo-soeum' in the order of frequency of use. 3. The acupuncture points which remady for 'tennis elbow' are as follow : 'Gok-ji', 'Soo-sam-ri', 'Joo-ryo', 'Hap-gok' and 'Woe-kwan' in the order of frequency of use. 4. Medical treatment with acupuncture is based on occuring area of pain and path of 'Kyoung-Rak'.

Objectives : Lumbar disc herniations are common conditions which induce severe pain and disability. We assessed the clinical effectiveness of Korean medical combination treatment. Methods : This is an observational study. We reviewed the medical records of 46 patients with lumbar disc herniations, who attended intensive Korean medical combination treatments at Mokhuri Neck and Back Hospital, Korea during March, 2012 to October, 2012. All the patients took combination treatments of acupuncture, Chuna and herbal medicines during the hospitalization treatments. Zero to ten pain numerating rating scale(NRS) of pain and SF-36 were assessed before and after treatments. Results : During the period, 46 patients with lumbar disc herniation participated in the treatments, respectively. Average admission duration were 20.32 days(SD 9.67) in lumbar disc patients. For lumbar patients, low back pain NRS decreased from $5.84{\pm}2.58$ to $2.12{\pm}1.74$(p<0.001) and radiating pain from $6.25{\pm}2.30$ to $2.59{\pm}1.97$(p<0.001). Total SF-36 score increased significantly after treatment in lumbar disc patients(p<0.001). Conclusions : Korean medical combination treatment might be effective in reducing pain and improving life quality of patients with lumbar disc herniation.
