Methods : Rats were divided into three groups: normal(non-treated group), control (group administered saline for 4, 11, and 18 days), and RA (group administered 2.45mg/200g Rhizoma Alismatis for 4, 11, and 18 days). The experimental results were derived from the measurement of the levels of glucose, ALP, AST, ALT, creatinine and BUN in the serum from the rats on days 4, 11, and 18. Results : The glucose level in the serum significantly decreased on the 18th day. The ALP level in the serum did not show statistical significance. The GOT and GPT levels in the serum slightly decreased on the 4th, 11th, and 18th days, but did not show statistical significance. The creatinine level in the serum was unchanged for all of them. The BUN level in the serum did not show statistical significance. Conclusions : According to the above results, it is concluded that Rhizoma Alismatis has a therapeutic effect on diabetes mellitus with a longer period ofintake. As to influence upon the liver and kidney, there was no damage orside effects.

Because antibiotics might cause some adverse reactions such as diarrhea, eruption, anorexia, nausea and vomiting, so Korean Traditional Medicine has been applied to UTI, and several reports can be found in the literature. This study was performed on two patients with UTI who were treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. Noteworthy results were obtained in hematology and urinalysis. UTI symptoms, signs and laboratory findings are indicative of successful treatment. Results suggests that Korean Traditional Medicine applied to UTI is effective. Methods: Three patients were diagnosed as cervical vertigo with cervical sprain, resulting from an alteration of the neck proprioceptive afferents of the upper cervical spine. Hwangryunhaedok-tang pharmacoacupuncture was injected in the patients once daily for 10 days. The symptom change of dizziness was checked daily before and after treatment by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score. The cervical pain and patient satisfaction were checked by the NRS (Numerical Rating Scale), NDI (Neck Disability Index), and the EQ-5D (EuroQol-Five Dimensions). Results: After the treatment, there was significant decrease in the value of the VAS score, measurement of dizziness, as well as the value of the NRS, NDI, a measure of pain. Also, the life quality measured by the EQ-5D improved. Conclusions: The results indicated that the Hwangryunhaedok-tang pharmacupuncture may have an effect on cervical vertigo with cervical pain.

Methods We reviewed 4 different online databases (PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], National Digital Science Library [NDSL], Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS]) from January 1, 2015 to August 31, 2019. Results Thirty-two randomized controlled trial papers were selected in this review. Most of them were conducted during 12 weeks, used Western Ontario and Mcmaster Universities Arthritis Index. In 22 of the papers, the effectiveness in the intervention groups was significantly higher than that in the control groups statistically (p<0.05). 5 studies reported intervention group was not inferior to the control group. Conclusions Most of studies showed herbal medicine treatments were statistically effective to knee osteoarthritis. More scientific and systematic clinical studies should be actively conducted in the future, and the results of this study could be used as basic data in the future clinical studies on herbal medicine treatment for knee osteoarthritis.
