This paper proposes a common-mode voltage reduction method base on SVPWM(Space-Vector Pulsewidth Modulation) in three phase PWM converter/inverter system. By shifting the active voltage vector of inverter and aligning this to the active vector of converter, it is possible to eliminate a common-mode voltage pulse in one control period. Since the proposed PWM method maintains the active voltage vector, it does not affect the control performance of PWM converter/inverter system. Without any extra hardware, overall common mode voltage dv/dt and conrresponding leakage current can be reduced to two-third of the conventional three phase symmetric SVPWM scheme.
This paper proposes a method to generate virtual intensity field in space. The sound field of a zone enclosing the listener position is controlled to have maximum acoustic intensity to the desired direction. In order to control acoustic intensity of a zone, space-averaged active intensity is introduced. The ratio of space-averaged active intensity and control effort is defined as a cost function and expressed as a function of source control signals. It is shown that the cost function represents radiation efficiency of multiple sources. The control signals maximizing the cost function is found through eigenvalue analysis. The proposed method is verified by numerical simulations performed in free field condition, and the results provide a relation between wavelength and the size of controllable intensity field.
We present a way of quantitatively characterizing solar active regions on the basis of their evolutionary paths. To determine characteristic properties of active regions with different sizes and configurations, we use a physics-based model to derive a relation between emerged magnetic flux and injected magnetic helicity (Flux-Helicity relation), the former of which gives scale information while the latter represents the magnetic field configuration of an active region. We demonstrate how this relation provides evolutionary paths of active regions and determines their characteristic properties, through a comparison with modeled active regions obtained from magnetohydrodynamic simulations.
We propose an active color model based method for tracking motions of multiple human using a networked multiple-camera system in IoT space as a human-robot coexistent system. An IoT space is a space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors(color CCD cameras for example), are distributed. Human beings can be a part of IoT space as well. One of the main goals of IoT space is to assist humans and to do different services for them. In order to be capable of doing that, IoT space must be able to do different human related tasks. One of them is to identify and track multiple objects seamlessly. In the environment where many camera modules are distributed on network, it is important to identify object in order to track it, because different cameras may be needed as object moves throughout the space and IoT space should determine the appropriate one. This paper describes appearance based unknown object tracking with the distributed vision system in IoT space. First, we discuss how object color information is obtained and how the color appearance based model is constructed from this data. Then, we discuss the global color model based on the local color information. The process of learning within global model and the experimental results are also presented.
Parameters associated with solar minimum have been studied to relate them to solar activity at solar maximum so that one could possibly predict behaviors of an upcoming solar cycle. The number of active days has been known as a reliable indicator of solar activity around solar minimum. Active days are days with sunspots reported on the solar disk. In this work, we have explored the relationship between the sunspot numbers at solar maximum and the characteristics of the monthly number of active days. Specifically, we have statistically examined how the maximum monthly sunspot number of a given solar cycle is correlated with the slope of the linear relationship between monthly sunspot numbers and the monthly number of active days for the corresponding solar cycle. We have calculated the linear correlation coefficient r and the Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient $r_s$ for data sets prepared under various conditions. Even though marginal correlations are found, they turn out to be insufficiently significant (r ~ 0.3). Nonetheless, we have confirmed that the slope of the linear relationship between monthly sunspot numbers and the monthly number of active days is less steep when solar cycles belonging to the "Modern Maximum" are considered compared with rests of solar cycles. We conclude, therefore, that the slope of the linear relationship between monthly sunspot numbers and the monthly number of active days is indeed dependent on the solar activity at its maxima, but that this simple relationship should be insufficient as a valid method to predict the following solar activity amplitude.
The hydraulic acoustic attenuator fur an automotive active suspension system is so highly nonlinear and of high order that the analysis in time-domain has been performed quite little. In this paper, a state-space representation of the dynamics for a hydraulic attenuator was presented utilizing the electrical analogy. And the results of experiment were compared with those of simulation to validate the state-space model proposed. The comparison revealed that the state-space model proposed is practically applicable to estimate the dynamic responses of the hydraulic attenuator in time-domain.
We study the stability of the magnetic structure in active region (AR) 12371 producing an M6.5 flare on June 22 2015. We first perform a nonlinear force-free fields (NLFFFs) extrapolation to derive three-dimensional (3D) magnetic fields based on time series of observed photospheric magnetic fields. The NLFFFs well describe an observed sigmoidal structure with the shape of a double arc magnetic configuration. Next, we examine three possible instabilities (kink, torus, and double arc) to investigate how the M6.5 flare is triggered in the double arc loops. Consequently, the double arc loops are stable against kink and torus instabilities, but possibly unstable against the double arc instability before the flare occurrence. Finally, we discuss a probable scenario for the M6.5 flare.
The stability analysis of coronal magnetic structures is important for studying the initiation of solar flares and eruptions. In order to understand the flare onset process, we first reconstructed the 3D coronal magnetic structures of active region 12371 with an M6.5 flare using a nonlinear force-free field (NLFFF) model based on vector magnetic fields. The NLFFFs successfully produce the observed sigmoidal structure which is composed of two branches of sheared arcade loops. The stability analysis were examined for three representative MHD instabilities: the kink, the torus, and the double arc instabilities. Our stability analysis shows that the two branches of sheared arcade loops are quite stable against the kink and torus instabilities, but unstable against the double arc instability before the flare occurrence. Finally, we discuss a probable onset process of the M6.5 flare.
