Detection of Tongue Area using Active Contour Model (능동 윤곽선 모델을 이용한 혀 영역의 검출)

  • In this paper, we apply limited area mask operation and active contour model to accurately detect tongue area outline in tongue diagnosis system. To accurately analyze the properties of the tongue, first, the tongue area to be detected. Therefore an effective segmentation method for detecting the edge of tongue is very important. It experimented with tongue image DB consists of 20~30 students 30 people. Experiments on real tongue image show the good performance of this method. Experimental results show that the proposed method extracts object boundaries more accurately than existing methods without mask operation.

  • This paper proposes a parallel operation system of the Z-source active power filter using one fuel cells(FC) system. The proposed system is composed of two Z-source inverters operating in parallel only one PEM(Polymer Electrolyte Membrane)FC system. Also, as the control algorithm of the active power filter, a single phase P-Q theory and PI control are adopted. The effectiveness of the proposed the system is verified by the PSIM simulation in the steady state and the transient state.

  • Active power control scheme for distributed generation in microgrid consists of feeder flow control and unit power control. Feeder flow control is more useful than the unit power control for demand-side management, because microgrid can be treated as a dispatchable load at the point of common coupling(PCC). This paper presents detailed descriptions of the feeder flow control scheme for the hybrid system in microgrid. It is divided into three parts, namely, the setting of feeder flow reference range for stable hybrid system operation, feeder flow control algorithm depending on load change in microgrid and hysteresis control. Simulation results using the PSCAD/EMTDC are presented to validate the inverter control method for a feeder flow control mode. As a result, the feeder flow control algorithm for the hybrid system in microgrid is efficient for supplying continuously active power to customers without interruption.

Analysis, Design, and Implementation of a Soft-Switched Active-Clamped Forward Converter with a Current-Doubler Rectifier

  • This study examines the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) operation of an active-clamped forward converter (ACFC) with a current-doubler rectifier (CDR). The ZVS condition can be obtained with a much smaller leakage inductance compared to that of a conventional ACFC. Due to the significantly reduced leakage inductance, the design is optimized and the circulating loss is reduced. The operation of the ACFC with a CDR is analyzed, and a detailed ZVS analysis is conducted on the basis of a steady-state analysis. From the results, a design consideration for ZVS improvement is presented. Loss analyses of the converters shows that enhanced soft-switching contributes to an efficiency improvement under light-load condition. Experimental results from a 100-W (5-V/20-A) prototype verify that the ACFC with a CDR can attain ZVS across an extended load range of loads and achieve a higher efficiency than conventional ACFCs.

  • This thesis presents a kind of active noise control(ANC) algorithm for reducing noise due to engine inside a car. The proposed control algorithm is, by using WP(Wavelet Packet), a one improving the instability due to delay of noise transmission and the lack of response ability for the rapid change of noise, which are defects of the existing FXLMS(Filtered-X Least Mean Square) algorithm. The chief character of this system is a thing that faster operation than the FXLMS is implemented by inserting WP in the secondary path. In other words, WP implements parallel operation. Then, the weights of filter in the adaptive algorithm will be updated faster. In addition, because WP have so excellent a resolution, they can process very minute noise. The efficiency of this control algorithm will be demonstrated in the matlab simulation and in the actual experiments by using a Labview program and a car.

  • Reliability of onboard power supply systems on rolling stock is a very important issue for the railway operator. While a failure of the HVAC supply results in a loss of comfort for the passengers, a failure of the supply for air compressors or for the traction cooling systems results in towing the train. This is, looking at the required availability of a train, not acceptable. An active redundancy concept for the onboard power supply maximizes the availability of the system. This paper describes such a system under the aspect of $\cdot$ Weight reduction $\cdot$ Continuous operation when changing from normal to redundant operation $\cdot$ Flexibility in train design.

  • With the rapid development of microgrid technology, microgrid projects are no longer limited to laboratory demonstrations and pilot platforms. It shows greater value in practical applications. Hence, the smooth interaction between a microgrid and the main grid plays a critical role. In this paper, a control method based on active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is proposed in order to realize seamless transitions between grid-connected and islanding operation modes and stable operation with variable loads. It is verified by simulations that the proposed ADRC-based method features better performance when compared to conventional proportional-integral-differential (PID) control. Meanwhile, the stability of the third-order extended state observer (ESO) in second-order ADRC is validated by using Lyapunov stability criteria.

  • The carbody underframe of TTX vehicle should be modified a lot for the installation of new devices such as an active suspension system between the bogie and the carbody of TTX vehicle, because the carbody underframe is one body structure consisting of a center sill welded with a carbody bolster. Modification operation of the carbody takes a lot of time and cost, because the huge sized carbody structure should be moved to a machining apparatus and machined to guarantee the manufacture accuracy of new device installation brackets. For this reason, modification operation improvement is needed to install new devices more efficiently between the bogie and the carbody. This paper introduce the development of 'bogie/carbody interface bolster' that not only supports the carbody weight but also enables new devices to be installed more efficiently between the bogie and the carbody. This development has advantage to reduce working time and cost to install new devices such as an active suspension system between the bogie and the carbody by minimizing the modification of the carbody of TTX vehicle.

  • For satellite attitude control and maneuver, normally four reaction wheels are used through pyramid configuration. However, if satellite's moment of inertia is large or available reaction wheels' capability is small, we can consider using five reaction wheels. In this case, we should think the arrangement of wheels and their operation method. Active SAR satellite requires high agile maneuver about roll axis to achieve looking angle change. In this research, we study the operation method of five reaction wheels configuration for fast roll maneuver.

High Efficiency Active Clamp Forward Converter with Synchronous Switch Controlled ZVS Operation

  • An active clamp ZVS PWM forward converter using a secondary synchronous switch control is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter is suitable for low-voltage and high-current applications. The structure of the proposed converter is the same as a conventional active clamp forward converter. However, since it controls the secondary synchronous switch to build up the primary current during a very short period of time, the ZVS operation is easily achieved without any additional conduction losses of magnetizing current in the transformer and clamp circuit. Furthermore, there are no additional circuits required for the ZVS operation of power switches. Therefore, the proposed converter can achieve high efficiency with low EMI noise, resulting from soft switching without any additional conduction losses, and shows high power dens~ty, a result of high efficiency, and requires no additional components. The operational principle and design example are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed converter can achieve an excellent ZVS performance throughout all load conditions and demonstrates significant improvement in efficiency for the 100W (5V, 20A) prototype converter.
