  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the possibility of futurism as original design pursuing newness in approaching 21C by studying how futurism having a great effect on fashion as innovatory ideology in early 20C did became paradigm in 20C fashion and the common peculiarity of the dress and its ornaments in this time before 21C. The Space Age Fashion and Techno-Cyber Fashion are representative futurism fashion of 20C. The common inner inclination in both Space Age Fashion and Techno-Cyber fashion are ; First, a future-oriented character. Second, a surrealism character, Third, an anti-cultural character. The greatest peculiarity in the common outer shape in both Space Age Fashion and Techno-Cyber Fashion is material. First, a innovatory choice. Second, an active motion. Third, a diverse effects. Future dress and its ornaments of 21C may be changed greatly by the development of technique, and this fact supports the forecast that the change of paradigm resulted from the development of science may have an effect on future dress and its ornaments as well as modern one. The paradigm change of futurism fashion would be continued, and its influence would work as main source shaping the form of design in 21C.

  • We analyzed both HCN J=1-0 and HNC J=1-0 line profiles to study the inflow motions in different evolutionary stages of massive star formation; infrared dark clouds (IRDCs), high-mass protostellar object (HMPOs), and ultra-compact HII regions (UCHIIs). The infall asymmetry in HCN spectra seems to be prevalent throughout all the three evolutionary phases, with IRDCs showing the largest excess in blue profile. In the case of HNC spectra, the prevalence of blue sources does not appear, excepting for IRDCs. We suggest that this line is not appropriate to trace infall motion in evolved stages of massive star formation because of an astrochemical effect. This result spotlights the importance of considering chemistry in dynamical study in star-forming regions. The fact that the IRDCs show the highest blue excess in both infall tracers indicates that the most active infall occurs in the early phase of star formation, i.e., the IRDC phase rather than in the later phases. However, the UCHIIs is likely still accreting matters. We also found that the absorption dips of the HNC spectra in all blue sources are red--shifted relative to their central velocities. These red-shifted absorption dips may indicate the observational signature of overall collapse although observations with better resolutions are needed to examine this feature more in detail.

  • A flexible one-link robotic manipulator is modelled as a rotating cantilever beam with a hub and tip mass. An active control law is developed with consideration of the distributed flexibility of the arm. Equation of motion is derived by Hamilton's principle and, for modal control, represented as state variable form using Galerkin's mode summation method. Feedback coefficients are chosen to minimize the linear quadratic performance index(PI). To reconstruct the complete state vector from the measurements, an observer is proposed. In order to suppress vibration of the manipulator arm to desirable extent and to obtain accuracy of the positioning, weighting factor of input in PI is adjusted. Spillover effect due to the controller which controls several important modes is examined. Experiment is also performed to validate the theoretical analysis.

  • In this study, the time varying boundary control using the right boundary transverse motion is suggested to stabilize the transverse vibration of an axially moving string on the basis of the energy flux between the moving string and the boundaries. The effectiveness of the active velocity boundary control is showed through the FDM simulation results. Sliding mode control is adopted in order to achieve velocity tracking control of the time varying right boundary to dissipate vibration energy of the string effectively. Optical sensor system for measuring the transverse vibration of an axially moving string is developed, and the angle of the incident wave to the right boundary, which is the input of the velocity boundary controller, is obtained. Experimental research is carried out to examine the validity and the performance of the transverse vibration control using the suggested velocity right boundary control scheme.

  • Many formation guidance laws have been proposed for VAV formation flight. Since most autonomous formation flight methods require various active communication links between the vehicles to know motion information of other vehicles, damage to the receiver or the transmitter and communication delay are critical problem to achieve a given formation flight mission. Therefore, in this point of view, the method that does not need an inter-vehicle communication is preferred in the autonomous formation flight. In this paper, we first summarize the formation guidance law without an inter-vehicle communication using feedback linearization and sliding mode control proposed in previous study. We also propose the modified formation guidance law with robust disturbance observer, which can provide significantly better performance than previously mentioned guidance law in case that other vehicles maneuver with large accelerations. The robust disturbance observer can estimate uncertainties generated by acceleration of leader vehicle. By eliminating the uncertainties using the estimated uncertainties, VAVs are able to achieve the tight formation flight. The performance of the proposed approach is validated by numerical simulations.

  • The electromagnet in Maglev vehicles controls the voltage in its winding to maintain the air gap, a clearance between the electromagnet and guideway, within an allowable deviation, with strongly interacting with the flexible guideway. Thus, the vibration characteristics of guideway plays important role in dynamics of Maglev vehicles using electromagnet as an active suspension system. The effects of the guideway's vibrational characteristics on dynamics of the Maglev vehicle UTM-01 are analyzed. The coupled equations of motion of the vehicle/guideway with 3 DOFs are derived. Eigenvalues are calculated and frequency response analysis is also performed for a clear understanding of the dynamic characteristics due to guideway vibration characteristics. To verify the results, tests of the urban Mgalev vehicle UTM-02 are carried out. It is recommended that the natural frequency of the guideway be minimized and its damping ratio in the Maglev vehicle with a 5-states feedback control law as a levitation control law.

  • The optical disc drive has used a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode for high recording density. But high NA and shorter wavelength cause several margins to become short. Focusing and tracking servo has to be more accurate and active tilt compensation mechanism is also needed for coma aberration compensation. In this paper, we proposed 3-axis moving magnet type actuator. For 3-DOF motion, moving coil actuator has to equip 6 wires for supplying 3 independent signals. However, moving magnet type actuator doesn't need to change the configuration of wires because coils are in stator. So, we added tilting mechanism to 2-axis moving magnet actuator which is designed in previous research. Addition of the tilting mechanism cuts down the focusing sensitivity. So, maximization the tilting sensitivity and securing the focusing sensitivity are objectivities of this research. DOE (design of experiments) procedures of electromagnetic circuit are performed for parameter study and the optimization is also performed to maximize the tilt sensitivity. And then the final design is suggested and its performance is verified by FE simulation.

  • This paper proposes a new type of MR (magentorheological) fluid based suspension system and applies it to military vehicle for vibration control. The suspension system consists of gas spring and MR damper. The nonlinear behavior of spring characteristics is evaluated with respect to the wheel travel and damping force model due to viscosity and yield stress of MR fluid is derived. Subsequently, a military vehicle of 6WD is adopted for the integration of the MR suspension system and its nonlinear dynamic model is establishes by considering vertical, pitch and roll motion. Then, a sky-hook controller associated with semi-active actuating condition is designed to reduce the vibration. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed MR suspension system, computer simulation is undertaken showing vibration control performance such as roll angle and pitch angle evaluated under bump and random road profiles.

  • A thermally-driven polysilicon microactuator has been fabricated using surface micromachining techniques. It consists of P-doped polysilicon as a structural layer and TEOS(tetraethylorthosilicate) oxide as a sacrificial layer. The polysilicon was annealed for the relaxation of residual stress which is the main cause to its deformation such as bending and buckling. And newly developed HF GPE(gas-phase etching) process was also employed to eliminate the troublesome stiction problem using anhydrous HF gas and CH$_{3}$OH vapor, and successfully fabricated the microactuators. The actuation is incurred by the thermal expansion due to the current flow in the active polysilicon cantilever, which motion is amplified by lever mechanism. The moving distance of polysilicon microactuator was experimentally conformed as large as 21 .mu. m at the input voltage level of 10V and 50Hz square wave. The actuating characteris- tics are also compared with the simulalted results considering heat transfer and thermal expansion in the polysilicon layer. This microactuator technology can be utilized for the fabrication of MEMS (microelectromechanical system) such as microrelay, which requires large displacement or contact force but relatively slow response.
