While the circulation of images become active, various requirements to manage increasing database are raised. The content-based technology is one of methods to satisfy these requirements. The image is represented by feature vectors extracted by various methods in the content-based technology. The global feature method insures fast matching speed because the feature vector extracted by the global feature method is formed into a standard shape. The global feature extraction methods are classified into two categories, the spatial feature extraction and statistical feature extraction. And each group is divided by what kind of information is used, color feature or gray scale feature. In this paper, we introduce various global feature extraction technologies and compare their performance by accuracy, recall-precision graph, ANMRR, feature vector size and matching time. According to the experiments, the spatial features show good performance in non-geometrical modifications, and the extraction technologies that use color and histogram feature show the best performance.

The gene encoding an esterase enzyme was cloned from a metagenomic library of cow rumen bacteria. The esterase gene (est5S) was 1,026 bp in length, encoding a protein of 366 amino acid residues with a calculated molecular mass of 40,168 Da. The molecular mass of the enzyme was estimated to be 40,000 Da. The Est5S protein contains the Gly-X-Ser-X-Gly motif found in most bacterial and eukaryotic serine hydrolases. However, the Asp or Glu necessary for the catalytic triad [Ser-Asp-(Glu)-His] was not present, indicating Est5S represents a novel member of the GHSQG family of esterolytic enzymes. BlastP in the NCBI database analysis of Est5S revealed homology to hypothetical proteins and it had no homology to previous known lipases and esterases. Est5S was optimally active at pH 7.0 and $40^{\circ}C$. Among the p-nitrophenyl acylesters tested, high enzymatic activities were observed on the short-chain p-nitrophenyl acylesters, such as p-nitrophenyl acetate, etc. The conserved serine residue ($Ser_{190}$) was shown to be important for Est5S activity. The primers that amplified the est5S gene did not show any relative band with 49 species of culturable rumen bacteria. This implies that a new group esterase gene, est5S, may have come from a noncultured cow rumen bacterium.

This study aims to analyze physicians' online information search process to solve the clinical questions at the point of care. To achieve this purpose, ten university hospital-based physicians participated in-depth interviews and observation studies. Based on Wilson's problem solving process, this study analyzed the characteristics of each information search stage and efficiency of online searching. The results showed that participants tend to relatively immediately formulate their clinical questions. However, basic searching strategies were only used and a few preferred information sources were chosen. However, average satisfaction degree of online searching appeared high with 5.7 (7 Likert-scale) and problem-solving index increased after searching. As physicians are likely to use well organized and evidenced-based credible information easily, it implies the needs for an integrated search system within the electronic medical record (EMR). In addition, as other online resources' awareness is lower comparing Google and PubMed, active promotions and training of other resources are needed.
Background: Punica granatum (family: Lythraceae) is mainly found in Iran, which is considered to be its primary centre of origin. Studies on pomegranate peel have revealed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenesis activities, with prevention of premature aging and reducing inflammation. In addition to this it is also useful in treating various diseases like diabetes, maintaining blood pressure and treatment of neoplasms such as prostate and breast cancer. Objectives: In this study we identified anti-cancer targets of active compounds like corilagin (tannins), quercetin (flavonoids) and pseudopelletierine (alkaloids) present in pomegranate peel by employing dual reverse screening and binding analysis. Materials and Methods: The potent targets of the pomegranate peel were annotated by the PharmMapper and ReverseScreen 3D, then compared with targets identified from different Bioassay databases (NPACT and HIT's). Docking was then further employed using AutoDock pyrx and validated through discovery studio for studying molecular interactions. Results: A number of potent anti-cancerous targets were attained from the PharmMapper server according to their fit score and from ReverseScreen 3D server according to decreasing 3D scores. Conclusion: The identified targets now need to be further validated through in vitro and in vivo studies.
This paper empirically analyzes specific characteristics of VOD users and their practical viewing patterns, using socio-demographic data of the current IPTV subscribers in combination with actual data of genre usage and payment. The findings revealed active viewing patterns of male, the unemployed, high earners and early adopters. In terms of preferences, households with large numbers of women prefer time shift contents, whereas households composed of more men or preschoolers prefer non-time shift contents. Likewise, the households that have more women or higher income had relatively a lot of experiences of purchasing time shift contents on one hand, but the households characterized by the larger numbers of family members or unemployed householder or young householder showed much willingness to pay premium contents on the other hand. Given the utilization of correct database, the findings offer useful information conducive to service promotion and marketing strategies to maximize VOD use in the practical dimension.

Among biometrics commercialized for security, iris recognition technology has the most excellent security for the probability of the match between individuals is the lowest. Current commercialized iris recognition technology has excellent recognition ability, but this technology has a fatal drawback. Without the user's active cooperation, it cannot recognize the iris correctly. To make up for this weakness, recent trend of iris recognition development mounts a non-volunteering, unconstrained method. According to this information, the objective of this research is developing a module that can identify people iris from a video acquired by high performance infrared camera in a range of 3m and in a involuntary way. For this, we import images from the video and find people's face and eye positions from the images using Haar classifier trained through Cascade training method. finally, we crop the iris by Hough circle transform and compare it with data from the database to identify people.
Collaborative filtering systems have problems when users rate items and the rated results depend on their feelings, as there is a possibility that the results include noise. The method proposed in this paper optimizes the matrix by excluding irrelevant ratings as information for recommendations from a user-item matrix using dispersion. It reduces the noise that results from predicting preferences based on original user ratings by inflecting the information for items and users on the matrix. The method excludes the ratings values of the utmost limits using a percentile to supply the defects of coefficient of variance and composes a weighted user-item matrix by combining the user coefficient of variance with the median of ratings for items. Finally, the preferences of the active user are predicted based on the weighted matrix. A large database of user ratings for movies from the MovieLens recommender system is used, and the performance is evaluated. The proposed method is shown to outperform earlier methods significantly.
This paper analyze a description of Korean fleet using bottom gears on the high seas. The need for this study arises from international moves to address the effects of fishing with bottom gears on vulnerable marine ecosystems (VMEs) and in view of a communication on the Korean policy in respect of this. There is growing concern over the impact of fishing using gears that come into contact with the seabed (bottom gears), in particular in deep-sea areas where vulnerable marine ecosystems including seamounts, hydrothermal vents and cold water corals are located. Korea is an important stakeholder in high seas bottom gear fisheries. For the past eight years, the issue of protecting biodiversity in the deep-sea in areas beyond national jurisdiction has been extensively debated by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and in other international fora. As a result of the report and a review by the UNGA of the effectiveness of the measures called for in resolution 59/25, the UN General Assembly called for a series of specific actions to be taken by States and RFMOs in UNGA resolutions 61/105 in 2006 and 64/72 in 2009 adopted by consensus. Korea attaches great importance to the protection of marine ecosystems and has made active efforts to implement the UNGA Resolution 61/105 in areas where there is a regional fisheries management organization, a process of establishing such organization or no such multilateral regime. For the effective implementation of the UNGA Resolution 61/105 and 64/72, Korea views that the development of support tools and, most importantly, the development of a global database on VMEs are urgently needed because many countries lack the ability to identify VMEs and to assess whether individual bottom fishing activities would have significant adverse impacts on their own.
This paper describes a method for vision-based person identification that can detect, track, and recognize person from video using multiple cues: height and dressing colors. The method does not require constrained target's pose or fully frontal face image to identify the person. First, the system, which is connected to a pan-tilt-zoom camera, detects target using motion detection and human cardboard model. The system keeps tracking the moving target while it is trying to identify whether it is a human and identify who it is among the registered persons in the database. To segment the moving target from the background scene, we employ a version of background subtraction technique and some spatial filtering. Once the target is segmented, we then align the target with the generic human cardboard model to verify whether the detected target is a human. If the target is identified as a human, the card board model is also used to segment the body parts to obtain some salient features such as head, torso, and legs. The whole body silhouette is also analyzed to obtain the target's shape information such as height and slimness. We then use these multiple cues (at present, we uses shirt color, trousers color, and body height) to recognize the target using a supervised self-organization process. We preliminary tested the system on a set of 5 subjects with multiple clothes. The recognition rate is 100% if the person is wearing the clothes that were learned before. In case a person wears new dresses the system fail to identify. This means height is not enough to classify persons. We plan to extend the work by adding more cues such as skin color, and face recognition by utilizing the zoom capability of the camera to obtain high resolution view of face; then, evaluate the system with more subjects.
Background: The age-adjusted incidence rate of prostate cancer (PCa) has been reported to be lower among Asians than Western populations. A traditional Japanese meal, high in soybean products or isoflavones, may be associated with a decreased risk of PCa. Equol, which is converted from daidzein by human intestinal flora, is biologically more active than any other isoflavone aglycone. Materials and Methods: We reviewed not only recent epidemiological studies on association of isoflavones with PCa risk, but also recent research on human intestinal bacteria responsible for converting daidzein into equol. Studies were systematically searched from the database published within the last 5 years of from 2008-2012. Results: Five out of 6 articles showed significant association of isoflavones with a decreased risk of PCa, and two of them consistently showed that equol-producers carry a significantly reduced risk of PCa. Furthermore, 5 human intestinal bacteria that can convert daidzein into equol were identified in the last 5 years. Conclusions: If equol can reduce risk of PCa, a possible strategy for reducing the risk of PCa may be to increase the proportion of equol-producers by changing the intestinal flora to carrying an equol-producing bacterium with dietary alteration or probiotic technology.
