아크릴산 그라프트 폴리프로필렌 부직포의 제조와 특성 (Preparation and Characterization of Acrylic Acid Grafted Polypropylene Nonwoven Fabric)

  • The purpose of this study is in development of effective filter-type polymer adsorbent for removal of pollutants from wastewater by UV irradiation graft polymerization. Photografting of acrylic acid (AA) on polypropylene (PP) nonwoven fabric using benzophenone (BP) as a photosensitizer was investigated. Inhibition of homopolymerization was achieved by adding various concentrations of $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$, $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$ and Mohr's salt. As AA concentration was increased, the degree of grafting was increased as to a specific value and then decreased, and the effect of BP concentration showed the same tendency. It was also found that the degree of grafting increased with reaction time and reaction temperature. Addition of the polyfunctional monomers and $H_2SO_4$ to the grafting system accelerated the photografting. The melting temperature, molecular weight and breaking stress and breaking strain were decreased with the increase in the degree of grafting.

  • We have developed the prototypes of superconducting magnetic separation system with high temperature superconductor wire. This separation filter system consist of magnetized matrix SUS430 wire and acrylic frame. This study introduced rolled steel process coolant wastewater applied superconductor HGMS(High Gradient Magnetic Separation). HGMS treatment have acted high efficient method for various wastewater. We have surveyed superconducting magnetic separation technology and reviewed the status of related industries using applied superconductivity. In our basic preliminary experiment using HGMS, it was made clear that the fine para-magnetic particles in the wastewater obtained from rolling process of steel can be separated with high efficiency. We investigated the ability of magnetic flock formation, which used inorganic materials and polymer coagulants. We had a purpose to remove SS of coolant at steel factory. Maximum coagulation remove rate of SS 98%. Removing ratio of $Fe_3O_4$ fine particles in wastewater showed over than 99% in the wastewater containing magnetic fines after four times of repetition of separation.

Synthesis of Montmorillonite/Poly(acrylic acid-co-2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid) Superabsorbent Composite and the Study of its Adsorption

  • A novel superabsorbent composite was prepared by intercalation polymerization of acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid (AMPS) in the presence of montmorillonite (MMT), using ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator and $N,N'$-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a cross linker. The superabsorbent composite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Maximum absorbency of the composite in distilled water and 0.9% sodium chloride solution was 722 and 108 g/g, respectively. The composite was used for removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. Maximum amount of adsorption for $Ni^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ and $Pb^{2+}$ was 211.0, 159.6 and 1646.0 mg/g, respectively, and the adsorption was in accordance with both Langmuir and Freundlich model. The composite could be regenerated and reused in wastewater treatment.

환경친화형 셀룰로오스계 유도체의 합성 및 폐수내 중금속 이온 흡착거동 연구 (Studies on Adsorption Behaviour for Heavy Metal Ions from Waste Water Using Eco-philic Cellulose Derivatives)

  • 개시제로 potassium persulfate($K_2S_2O_8$)를 사용하여 methylcellulose(MC)에 중금속 이온과 친화력이 우수한 carboxyl(-COOH)기를 도입하기 위하여 acrylic acid(AA)를 그라프트 공중합시켜 얻어낸 반응생성물(MC-g-AA)을 중금속 이온 흡착제로 적용하였다. MC-g-AA의 그라프트율은 개시제 및 단량체의 농도가 높을수록 증가하였으며 그라프트율 19.7% 이상의 MC-g-AA는 물에 용해되지 않았다. MC-g-AA의 중금속 흡착 특성을 평가하기 위해 MC-g-AA의 기라프트율, 폐수의 pH, 흡착시간, MC-g-AA의 주입량 및 폐수내 $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ 이온의 농도에 따른 흡착실험을 진행하였다. 흡착실험 결과 MC-g-AA는 pH $4{\sim}6$ 범위에서 $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ 이온에 대한 높은 흡착량을 나타내었으며 그라프트율 및 초기 중금속 이온의 농도가 높을수록 MC-g-AA의 중금속 흡착량은 증가하였으나 MC-g-AA의 주입량이 늘어날수록 MC-g-AA 단위 무게당 흡착량은 감소하였다. MC-g-AA에 의한 중금속 흡착을 Freundlich 등온흡착 모델로 표현한 $Pb^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ 이온의 l/n은 각각 0.4294, 0.3453로 나타났다.

단방향 플러싱에 의한 입자성 물질의 제거에 관한 연구 (A study on the removal of particulate matters using unidirectional flushing)

  • Particulate matters in a water distribution system are main causes of turbidity and discoloration of tap water. They could be removed by conventional or uni-directional flushing in a water distribution system. The behaviors and required flow velocity of particles are not well known for their flushing. A model water main and hydrant were made from transparent acrylic pipe of 30mm and 16mm in diameter, respectively. We analyzed the effect of flushing velocity, particle density, and particle diameter. We found that the existence of break-though velocities at which particles begin to be removed, and which are affected by their physical properties. The removal efficiencies seemed to be influenced by resuspension capabilities related to their upward movement from the bottom. Heavy particles like scale were hard to remove through upflow hydrant because the falling velocity, calculated using Stokes' law, was higher. Particle removal efficiencies of upward hydrant and downward drain showed minor differences. Additionally, the length between hydrant and control valve affected flushing efficiency because the particulate matters were trapped in this space by inertia and recirculating flow.

  • The Chitin Thiocarbonate-Fe(II)-H2O2 redox initiator system was investigated for the graft copolymerization of acrylonitrile(AN) and acrylic acid(AA) monomers onto chitin powder. The reactions with vinyl monomers onto chitin were carried out under various the graft copolymerization conditions to elucidate the polymerization behavior in terms of graft yield. Reactions of chitin-acrylonitrile graft copolymer with hydroxyl amine hydrochloride and those with sodium hydroxide were conducted in order to obtain chitin-(amidoxime-co-acrylonitrile) and chitin-(acrylate-co-acrylamide) graft copolymers, respectively. The reaction efficiency was observed to depend on the alkali concentration, time, temperature, and the reactant concentrations. The prepared chitin derivatives were evaluated to find potential applications for use in wastewater treatments for adsorption and desorption of heavy metal ions as well as acidic and basic dyes.

Low cost zwitterionic adsorbent coating for treatment of anionic and cationic dyes

  • Clay based coating with zwitterionic functionality is used to remove cationic and anionic dyes. Adsorbent coating was prepared by the mixing of bentonite clay, acrylic polymer (AP) and polyethylene-diamine (EPI-DMA). Characterization was performed using SEM-EDX, XRF, X-ray mapping and FTIR analyses. The adsorption capacity of ZACC was found to be increased from 59.35 to 255.99 mg/g and from 45.84 to 70.09 mg/g for BG and AR1 dyes, respectively using initial concentration (50-200 ppm). Significant adsorption capacity along with mechanical and chemical stability formulates ZACC as an excellent composite coating for treatment of anionic and cationic dyes from industrial wastewater.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 폐수 중의 음이온성 오염물질을 효율적으로 제거하기 위한 필터형의 고분자 흡착제를 개발하는데 있다. 음이온 교환기능기를 갖는 고분자 흡착제를 합성하기 위하여 DETA를 아민원으로 하는 화학적 개질반응을 이용하여 PP-g-AA 부직포의 카르복시기를 아민기로 변환시켰다. FT-IR분석결과는 그라프트된 아크릴산이 DETA와 반응하여 아미드화됨에 따라 PP-g-AA에 아민그룹이 도입되었음을 시사하였다. PP-g-AA의 아민화율은 반응온도가 높을수록, 반응시간이 길수록 증가하였으며, PP-g-AA 부직포를 용매를 이용하여 먼저 팽윤시키거나 금속염화물 촉매를 첨가한 다음 아민화 반응을 실시하였을 때 더욱 증가하였다. 팽윤용매별 아민화율은 $NH_4OH>HCl{\geq}MeOH>H_2O$, 금속염화물 촉매별 아민화율은 $AlCl_3>FeCl_3{\geq}SnCl_2{\gg}ZnCl_2{\geq}FeCl_2$순으로 높게 나타났다. 다만 촉매의 첨가는 DETA의 재사용을 제한하기 때문에 제조비용과 폐기물 관리면에서 그 유용성이 낮았다. PP-g-AA-Am 부직포의 음이온 교환능은 아민화율이 증가할수록 증가하였으나 대략 $50{\sim}60%$의 아민화율에서 최대가 되었으며, 상용의 음이온교환수지의 교환능에 비해 높았다.
