  • In two previous papers [1], [2], we presented the validity of a method that calculated the Leq values along High Speed Train (TGV in french) lines from the level/time evolution of moving trains. Tanks to this method, it is now possible to compute specific time-related effects such as interactions between train bodies and close obstacles. This paper lists important parameters to be considered within TGV studies and presents the various levels of study, starting from the research of the best traject (extensive studies), passing through noise impact studies (intensive studies) of the chosen traject to the dimensionning of antinoise devices (final design), and all this to guarantee precise respect of noise criteria. A theoretical comparison study conducted on about 80 different types of antinoise devices including earthberms and noise barriers of different forms, dimensions and materials is also presented. At last a "final design" study using all benefits of the method (full 3D and time representation) is presented.presented.

  • This paper presents a macro script to analyze numeric sounds by a speech analysis shareware, Praat, and analyzes those sounds produced by three students who were born and raised in Pusan. Recording was done in a quiet office. To make a meaningful comparison, dynamic time points in relation to the total duration of voicing segments were determined to measure acoustical values. Results showed that a strong correlation coefficient was found between the repetitive production of numeric sounds within and across the speakers. Very high coefficients among diphthongal numbers (0 and 6) which usually show wide formant variation were noticed. This supports that each speaker produced numbers quite coherently. Also, the frequency differences between the three subjects were within a perceptually similar range. To identify a speaker among others may require to find subtle individual differences within this range. Perceptual experiments by synthesized numeric sounds may lead to resolve the issue.

  • In this paper we implement the Discrete Rotational Fourier Transform(DRFT) which is a discrete version of the Angular Fourier Transform and its inverse transform. We simplify the computation algorithm in [4], and calculate the complexity of the proposed implementation of the DRFT and the inverse DRFT, in comparison with the complexity of a DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform).

  • Acoustical correlates of stress can be classified as duration, intensity and fundamental frequency. This study examined the acoustical differences in the first two syllables of stressed English words produced by ten American and Korean speakers. The Korean subjects scored very high on the TOEFL. They read at a normal speed a fable from which the acoustical parameters of eight words were analyzed. In order to make the data comparison meaningful, each parameter was collected at 100 dynamic time points proportional to the total duration of the two syllables. Then the ratio of the parameter sum of the first rime to that of the second rime was calculated to determine the relative prominence of the syllables. Results showed that the durations of the first two syllables were almost comparable between the Americans and Koreans. However, statistically significant differences showed up in the diphthong pronunciations and in the words with the second syllable stressed. Also, remarkably high r-squared values were found between pairs of the three acoustical parameters, which suggests that either one or a combination of two or more parameters may account for the prominence of a syllable within a word.

  • In this study, the system is proposed which can be used for recognition of Koean single vowles "ㅏ, ㅓ, ㅗ, ㅜ, ㅡ, ㅣ, ㅐ, ㅔ, ㅚ,", and automatic recognition is processed using $\mu$-computer. 3 men of not-being-studied are participated in this experiment. Using the period of vowels, one part of the steady state is selected for high speed recognition, and amplitude comparison method, LPC, PARCOR, and Formant are used for parameter of recognition. Formant is obtained by peak picking method using LPC, and then vowels are recognized by amplitude comparison method, LPC, PARCOR, and Formant. As a result, Recognition rates are 90.1% for amplitude comparison method, 93.1% for LPC, 100% for PARCOR, 88.8% for using formant.

  • An acoustical model for detecting the leak location in a buried gas pipeline has been developed. This model is divided into an experimental model for sound diagnosis, and a theoretical model for sound prediction, which is based on the transfer matrix method, representing the sound pressure and the volume velocity as state variables. The power spectrum is measured by attaching only one microphone to the closed end pipe. It has been shown that the response magnitude of acoustic pressure signals calculated by the acoustical model depends upon the thickness and diameter of a pinhole. The validity for the acoustical model has been verified through a comparison between the measured and calculated results.

  • A new class of data transformation matri is introduced for estimation of angles of arrivals by the rank reduction of multiple wideband sources. The proposed unitary focusing matri minimizes the average of the squared norm of focusing error over the angles of interest without a priori knowledge of source locations. The merit that result as a consequence is a lower resolution threshold. These matrices can be applied to the case of the multigroup sources. Simulations and the comparison of statistical performance are compared with the algorithms (especially, spatial resampling method) which does not require the pre-estimation.
