  • This is a research of an adaptive longitudinal control system for situated cognition in wide range, traffic accidents reduction and safety driving environment by integrated system which graft a road infrastructure's information based on IT onto the intelligent vehicle combined automobile and IT technology. The road infrastructure installed by laser scanner in intersection, speed limited area and sharp curve area where is many risk of traffic accident. The road infra conducts objects recognition, segmentation, and tracking for determining dangerous situation and communicates real-time information by Ethernet with vehicle. Also, the data which transmitted from infrastructure supports safety driving by integrated with laser scanner's data on vehicle bumper.

Safety Measure Developed Through Analysis of Firefighters' 『Investigation Report on Accidents to On-Site Workers』

  • The study has suggested a way to minimize safety accidents found in on-site firefighting activity by analyzing firefighters' [investigation report on accidents to on-sie workers]. The study result is described as follows. First, the result of [investigation report on on-site workers] shows that while accidents are found to most frequently have occurred to low-ranking firefighting officers such as Sobangsa and Sobanggyo and firefighting officers with career of less than 5 years, fire-extinguishing activity proved to be the most prone to accidents in the category of activity. Second, analysis performed to identify variance between injury extent and area based on cause of accident shows statistically significant variance. In addition, the result of verifying difference in cause of accident based on category of activity shows significant difference with 'falling over and sliding' being the highly likely cause of accident in fire containment and rescue activities and 'reckless move' being highly likely case of accident in emergency activities. Third, the result of verifying factors behind the extent of injury done to on-site workers shows that when accident is caused by 'incomplete behavior', it was found that the extent of injury is substantial. It was also found that rescue activity is accompanied by substantial extent of injury. As a solution to this, the study suggested ways to establish, extend and operate safety-specific curriculum for entrants, develop materials regarding risk prognosis training and explicate training-related regulations, set up safety management measure for a single squad team, upgrade performance of private protection equipment, institutionalize SOP by on-site activity stage, materialize and activate swift rescue team and increase objectivity and proficiency of safety accident investigation.

교통단속카메라 전·후방을 고려한 사고 저감효과 분석 -울산시 북구를 대상으로- (Analysis of Traffic Accident Reduction Effects considering Monitoring Direction of Traffic Camera)

  • PURPOSES : Traffic cameras have been installed to reduce traffic accidents. The effectiveness of traffic cameras has been proved by dozens of studies, but recently questions over its effectiveness have been raised by a series of studies. In this study, the effectiveness of traffic cameras was analyzed with a focus on different road environments. METHODS : The effectiveness of the traffic cameras was analyzed by extracting the occurence frequency before and after camera installation. The effect of reduction was analyzed comprehensively considering the installation position, monitoring direction, and surrounding environment of traffic cameras. RESULTS : The result of this study is as follows. First, the installation of cameras in an area with relatively low accidental traffic was more effective. Secondly, the effect of camera installation on car-to-pedestrian collisions was better than that of car-to-car collisions. Thirdly, accidents tended to occur more frequently when cameras were installed in front of the accident-prone owing to the negative spill-over effect. CONCLUSIONS : The result can be used to guide placement of traffic cameras. Moreover, the installation of cameras with consideration of the road environment is expected to contribute to a reduction in traffic fatalities.

연구실 사전유해인자위험분석의 합리적 관리 개선 방안에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Rational Management of the Pre-Hazard Factors Analysis in the Laboratory)

  • Through the survey on the current status of hazardous substances in laboratories, the research institute is designed to establish measures to improve the management of university laboratories and to create a safe laboratory. We intend to explore countermeasures by confirming and reviewing the recognition of the statutes in the "Guidelines for the Implementation of the Laboratory Pre-Hazard Factors Analysis" through the questionnaire. Although there are various parts to create a pleasant environment for a laboratory, the most important part is the role of a laboratory manager in the area where each and every one of the laboratory's directors is the "Act on the Establishment of a Safety Environment in a Laboratory", but if the laboratory is not to be accident-prone, the laboratory's responsibility is to be more secure. This research is intended to be funded by research to reasonably implement" Guidelines for the Implementation of the Laboratory Pre-Hazard Factors Analysis" before applying to universities and to protect field-based research activities and to reasonably reduce safety accident prevention and risk.

Safety of Workers in Indian Mines: Study, Analysis, and Prediction

  • Background: The mining industry is known worldwide for its highly risky and hazardous working environment. Technological advancement in ore extraction techniques for proliferation of production levels has caused further concern for safety in this industry. Research so far in the area of safety has revealed that the majority of incidents in hazardous industry take place because of human error, the control of which would enhance safety levels in working sites to a considerable extent. Methods: The present work focuses upon the analysis of human factors such as unsafe acts, preconditions for unsafe acts, unsafe leadership, and organizational influences. A modified human factor analysis and classification system (HFACS) was adopted and an accident predictive fuzzy reasoning approach (FRA)-based system was developed to predict the likelihood of accidents for manganese mines in India, using analysis of factors such as age, experience of worker, shift of work, etc. Results: The outcome of the analysis indicated that skill-based errors are most critical and require immediate attention for mitigation. The FRA-based accident prediction system developed gives an outcome as an indicative risk score associated with the identified accident-prone situation, based upon which a suitable plan for mitigation can be developed. Conclusion: Unsafe acts of the worker are the most critical human factors identified to be controlled on priority basis. A significant association of factors (namely age, experience of the worker, and shift of work) with unsafe acts performed by the operator is identified based upon which the FRA-based accident prediction model is proposed.

Contractors' Perception towards Safety and its Consequences on Construction Workers in Cape Coast Metropolis

  • The construction environment has been declared as a hazard prone area due to high number of accident and death. The study aims to identify influential factors that contribute to poor safety practices and its consequences on construction workers in Cape Coast Metropolis. Seventy respondents were taken as the sample size for the study. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data obtained from the field. Findings show that poor site management, working without safety gadgets, failure to use their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and negligence of workers were the main causes of accidents on sites. Poor site management had the highest ranking among the seven variables. Effects of poor safety practices on building construction site and delays in work execution were due to injury of workers, extra cost due to payment of compensation to injured victims, not motivated due to injury of worker and declined reputation of firm. Management team should motivate workers for safe work done, provide adequate PPE for their workers on site and have documented health and safety policy on site. Site authorities and management team should be on site regularly to ensure proper safety practices on construction site.

  • 본 연구는 신호위반 단속건수에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 관하여 자료를 수집하고 분석하여 신호위반 단속건수와의 관계를 규명하고 모형을 개발하여 예측된 모형을 통해 신호위반 단속건수에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 규칙을 파악하는 방법으로 교통사고의 위험을 항시 내포하고 있는 교통법규 위반행위가 빈번한 지역에 대한 무인다기능단속시스템의 설치기준을 제시하고자 하는 연구이다.

앱 기반 자전거 라이딩 시스템 개발 (Development of an App-Based Bicycle Riding System)

  • 최근 건강을 위해 자전거 타는 사람들이 많아지고 자전거로 출퇴근하는 사람들이 늘어나면서 자전거 사용자가 많아졌다. 하지만, 사용자가 늘어나면서 사고가 많이 발생하고 있으며, 자전거 사고 대처가 불안정하다. 안전 장비를 제외하고는 다른 방법으로 사고를 대비하기엔 미비하다. 따라서 현대 성인들의 안전하고 편리하게 라이딩할 수 있는 방편이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 다른 앱과는 달리 안전 기능을 추가하여 라이딩을 하면서 블랙박스 촬영을 할 수 있고, 사고다발구역임을 알려주는 기능이 구현된다. 또한, 안드로이드 내장 센서를 이용하여 사고를 감지하고 자동으로 비상 연락을 취할 수 있는 기능도 추가된다. 자전거 사용자들이 다양한 앱들을 추가로 이용할 필요 없이 하나의 앱에서 안전과 편리성을 확보할 수 있다. 게다가 라이딩 커뮤니티 게시판을 통해 라이딩에 대해 이야기를 나눌 수 있고, 자신의 이동경로를 공유할 수 있는 앱 시스템을 개발한다.

로드뷰를 활용한 보행자 사고 취약 지점 특징 분석 탐색적 연구: 부산광역시 사상구를 중심으로 (An Exploratory Study on the Analysis of Characteristics of Pedestrian Accident Vulnerable Points using Road View: Focusing on Sasang-gu, Busan)

  • 연구목적: 일반적으로 교통사고는 산발적으로 발생하기 때문에 예방 및 방지대책 마련을 위한 현장조사 시 시간적·비용적으로 다양한 한계가 있다. 특히, 코로나 사태 이후 비대면 사회로의 전환으로 현장조사를 대체할 방안 마련이 더욱 필요한 실정이며, 이에 본 연구에서는 부산광역시 사상구를 대상으로 다양한 웹사이트에서 제공하고 있는 로드뷰에 대한 현장조사 대체 활용 가능성을 평가하였다. 연구방법: 연구방법은 '16~'22년간 발생한 교통사고 취약지점을 추출하여 교통안전법 「교통안전진단지침」에서 제공하고 있는 현장조사 평가항목을 기반하여 로드뷰를 분석하였다. 연구결과: 주요 결과 사상구는 사상로, 대동로, 학장로 지점에서 고령 보행자 사고가 가장 취약하였다. 로드뷰를 통해 취약지점을 상세분석한 결과 사상로는 영업용 차량의 통제, 시장 상권에 대한 교통약자 보호 등이 필요하였다. 대동로는 불법 노상 주정차, 경사로 합류 구간 등이 취약하였고, 학장로는 과속이 쉬운 도로 등이 취약하였다. 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 로드뷰의 현장조사 대체 가능성을 평가하였을 때, 로드뷰는 보·차도 분리성, 안전 시설물의 위치 및 간격 등 대부분 항목을 효과적으로 평가할 수 있었다. 하지만, 실측 수행 등 항목에서는 한계가 있었다. 결론: 즉, 로드뷰는 대부분의 현장조사를 대체할 수 있고, 실측 평가항목은 보조자료로 활용성을 높여 시간적·비용적 절감효과와 동시에 높은 효율성을 나타내는 것으로 판단할 수 있다.

안전운전을 위해 위험지역을 회피하는 내비게이션 경로탐색 (Searching a Navigation Path to Avoid Danger Area for Safe Driving)

  • 내비게이션은 차량 운전자에게 경로탐색과 길안내 서비스의 제공을 기본으로 한다. 그러나 현재의 경로탐색에서는 운전자의 안전을 지키기 위해 다양한 도로 상황을 고려하지 않고, 안전운전 DB만을 이용하여 최단경로를 찾는 서비스만을 제공하고 있다. 따라서 안전운전을 위해서는 단순한 최단경로 검색 서비스를 벗어나, 위험지역이나 위험시간대를 고려한 경로탐색이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 A* 알고리즘을 이용하여 안전운전을 위해 위험지역을 회피할 수 있는 경로탐색 방법을 제안한다. 이 경로탐색에서 탐색노드의 경로 적합 도를 측정할 때 위험지역 종류별로 서로 다른 휴리스틱 가중치를 적용하였다. 특히 경로 탐색에서 회피할 위험지역으로는 사고가 자주 발생하는 사고 다발구간, 어린이 보호구역, 교차로지역, 그리고 위험시간대를 고려하여 동적으로 위험지역별 가중치를 부여하였다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 결과, 안전운전을 위해 위험지역을 회피할 수 있는 경로탐색 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.
