  • Various security devices are used to protect internal networks and valuable information from rapidly evolving cyber attacks. Firewall, which is the most commonly used security device, tries to prevent malicious attacks based on a text-based filtering rule (i.e., access control policy), by allowing or blocking access to communicate between inside and outside environments. However, in order to protect a valuable internal network from large networks, it has no choice but to increase the number of access control policy. Moreover, the text-based policy requires time-consuming and labor cost to analyze various types of vulnerabilities in firewall. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a 3D-based hierarchical visualization method, for intuitive analysis and management of access control policy. In particular, by providing a drill-down user interface through hierarchical architecture, Can support the access policy analysis for not only comprehensive understanding of large-scale networks, but also sophisticated investigation of anomalies. Finally, we implement the proposed system architecture's to verify the practicality and validity of the hierarchical visualization methodology, and then attempt to identify the applicability of firewall data analysis in the real-world network environment.

  • An SNS(Social Network Service) enables people to form a social network on online as in the real world. With the rising popularity of the service, side effects of SNSs were issued. Therefore we propose and implement a policy-based privacy protection module and access control policy language for ensuring the right of control of personal information and sharing data among SNSs. The policy language for protecting privacy is based on an attribute-based access control model which grants an access to personal information based on a user's attributes. The policy language and the privacy protection module proposed to give the right of control of personal information to the owner, they can be adopted to other application domains in which privacy protection is needed as well as secure sharing data among SNSs.

  • SecuROS(Secure & Reliable Operating System) prevents and blocks possible system cracking by implementing additional security functions in FreeBSD 4.3 operating system (OS) kernel, including access control, user authentication, audit trail, encryption file system and trusted channel. This paper describes access control technique, which is one of core technologies of SecuROS, introduces the implementations of DAC, MAC and RBAC, all of which are corresponding access control policies, and show security and results of performance measurement on the basis of application of access control policies. Finally, security and performance between conventional OS environment and environment adopting access control policy is described.

  • In recent years, how to promore the Utilization of Internet is a main issue of national information policy. In this study, we focused our approach to find promoting sttategies for Internet utilization on three sector's users, governments, enterprises, and households. Promoting the Internet utilization of these three sector's users is a very difficult problem, because their information levels are different and information gap among them can be regarded as bottleneck. And since the interactions between user's demands and diverse information seccor's factors are very complex, policy leverages can not find easily. By the system dynamics methodology, this paper examines the interrelationships between three user's demand mechanism and information policy sector. Information policy sector consist of four sectors, infrastruccure policy seccor, application-contents sector, governance sector, and access and price policy sector (free access policy, literacy policy, telecommunication price policy, etc.). To find and investigate policy leverage that will help understanding dynamic behavior of users in using Internet we build a causal loop diagrams and SD models by using survey data obtained from three sectors'specialized users, 488 persons.

  • The organizations and companies establish personal information protection policy under the law and guidelines. They carry out access control without consideration for distinctiveness of the information although the damage degree varies when the information is leaked. Considering the distinctiveness, a policy needs to be made for individuals to protect his personal information. However, he is not able to write the policy because of lack of understanding the system. To write his own policy efficiently, the system that authorizes ones according to service list provided by organizations is necessary. This paper suggests the model and method that write personal policy for his information protection based on the service list provided by organizations. Through this model, fine-grained authorization and policy change are easily made and ultimately the access control customized according to one's own information is possible.

  • The major challenge in wireless body area networks (WBAN) is setting up a protected communication between data consumers and a body area network controller while meeting the security and privacy requirements. This paper proposes efficient and secure data communication in WBANs using a Twofish symmetric algorithm and ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption with constant size ciphertext; in addition, the proposed scheme incorporates policy updating to update access policies. To the best of the author's knowledge, policy updating in WBAN has not been studied in earlier works. The proposed scheme is evaluated in terms of message size, energy consumption, and computation cost, and the results are compared with those of existing schemes. The result shows that the proposed method can achieve higher efficiency than conventional methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a new access control security architecture for supporting flexibility in Secure Operating Systems. By adding virtual access control system layer to the proposed security architecture, various access control models such as MAC, DAC, and RBAC can be applied to Secure Operating Systems easily. The proposed security architecture is designed to overcome the problem of Linux system's base access control system. A policy manager can compose various security models flexibly and apply them to Operating Systems dynamically. Also, the proposed architecture is composed of 3 modules such as access control enforcement, access control decision, and security control. And access control models are abstracted to hierarchy structure by virtual access control system. And, we present the notation of policy conflict and its resolution method by applying various access control model.

  • In the rapidly changing e-business environment, organizations need to share information, process business transactions, and enhance collaborations with relevant entities by taking advantage of the various technologies. However, there are always the security issues that need to be handled in order for the e-business operations to be run efficiently. In this research, we suggest the new security authorization model for safety flexible supporting the needs of e-business (e-marketplace) in an organization. This proposed model provides the scalable of access control policy among multi-domains, and preservation of flexible authorization management in distributed system environments. For servers to take the access control policy and enforcement decisions, we also describe the feasible authorization architecture is concerned with how they might seek advice and guideline from formal access control model.

  • Purpose: The ability to access clinical trials for cancer treatment is important. This study investigated whether regional differences exist in oncologic clinical trial protocols conducted in South Korea. Methods: Records of all approved oncologic clinical trials conducted in 2019 were downloaded from the Republic of Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The study covered Seoul, the capital area, other metropolitan cities, and provincial areas. Descriptive statistics summarized the distribution patterns of clinical trials by region. Results: A total of 202 oncologic clinical trials were conducted in 63 institutions in 2019. Of these protocols, 186 (92%) were available in Seoul, 120 (59%) in the capital area, 64 (32%) in metropolitan cities, and 66 (33%) in provincial areas. More regional differences in protocol availability were observed in domestic trials, investigator-initiated trials, phase 1 and 2 trials, and smaller-scale trials. Conclusion: Most oncologic clinical trials were conducted in medical institutions located in Seoul, with the rest conducted in the capital area, metropolitan cities, and provincial areas. The findings reveal clear differences in protocol availability between Seoul and the other regions. Measures designed to improve geographical access to oncologic clinical trials may be needed given their growing importance in cancer treatment.

  • A message server have two basic functionalities, a server role for processing the processing the user environment as well as an entity role for transferring message to other entity in message system environment. The user who is going to send and receive his important information really wants to keep his own security requests. To satisfy this requirement, message server must be enforced by two seperated security policies- one for message processing security policy under department's computer working environment, the other for send/receive security policy under message system's communication path environment. Proposed access control model gurantees the user's security request by combining constrained server access control and message system access control with multi upper bound properties which come from inheritance attributes of originating user security contexts.
