A New Control Scheme for a Class-D Inverter with Induction Heating Jar Application by Constant Switching Frequency

  • In this paper, a simple power control scheme for a constant frequency Class-D inverter with a variable duty cycle is proposed. It is more suitable and acceptable for high- frequency induction heating (IH) jar applications. The proposed control scheme has the advantages of not only wide power regulation range but also ease of control output power. Also it can achieve a stable and efficient Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) in a whole load range. The control principles of the proposed method are described in detail and its validity is verified through simulated and experimental results on 42.8kHz IGBT for induction heating rated on 1.6kW with constant frequency variable power.

Synthesis of Novel Polyurethanes Containing Tricyanocyclopropyl Group as a Piezoelectric Chromophore and Their Properties

  • 1-(2'2'3'-Tricyano-3-carbomethoxycyclopropyl)-34-di-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)benzene, (4) was prepared by the reaction of bromomalononitrile with methyl 3,4-di-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)benzylidenecyanoacetate (3). Diol 4 was condensed with tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate, 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'-biphenylenediisocyanate, and 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate to yield polyurethanes 5, 6, and 7 containing tricyanocyclopropane functionalities in the pendant group. The resulting polymers 5-7 were soluble in common organic solvents and the inherent viscosities were in the range of 0.25-0.30 dL/g. Polyurethanes 5-7 showed a thermal stability up to 300 $^{\circ}C$ in TGA thermograms. Solution-cast films showed Tg values in the range of 100-125 $^{\circ}C$ and piezoelectric coeffcients (d31) of the poled polymer films were 1.3-2.0 pC/N, which are acceptable for piezoelectric device applications.

  • 5-Nitro-2-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzylidenemalononitrile (2a), methyl 5-nitro-2-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzylidenecyanoacetate (2b), 3-nitro-4-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzylidenemalononitrile (4a), methyl 3-nitro-4-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzylidenecyanoacetate (4b), 2-nitro-5-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzylidenemalononitrile (6a), and methyl 2-nitro-5-(2'-vinyloxyetboxy)benzylidenecyanoacetate (6b) were prepared by the condensation of 5-nitro-2-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzaldehyde (1), 3-nitro-4-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzaldehyde (3), and 2-nitro-5-(2'-vinyloxyethoxy)benzaldehyde (5) with malononitrile or methyl cyanoacetate, respectively. Vinyl ether monomers 2a-b, 4a-b, and 6a-b were polymerized with boron trifluoride etherate as a cationic initiator to yield poly(vinyl ethers) 7-9 having oxynitrobenzylidenemalononitrile and oxynitrobenzylidenecyanoacetate, which is effective chromophore for second-order nonlinear optical applications. Polymers 7-9 were soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and DMSO. Tg values of the resulting polymers were in the range of 67-83 ℃. Electrooptic coefficient (r33) of the poled polymer films were in the range of 15-27 pm/V at 633 nm. Polymers 7-9 showed a thermal stability up to 300 ℃ in TGA thermograms, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

  • A pyrogen igniter was designed to satisfy the required condition of kick motor system for the space launch vehicle. We analyzed the ignition characteristics and performed the combustion tests to verify the internal ballistic performance. In the design process, the arc-image test was carried out to find the sufficient heat flux as varying the initial pressure from 10 to 700kPa. The analysis indicated that the initial pressure condition would delay ignition time within a range from 100 to 500ms. The combustion test with an inert chamber was also performed to understand the ignition characteristics with the variation of the initial pressure of free chamber volume. Finally, we confirmed that the igniter could provide the acceptable energy to ignite the propellant of kick motor at the ground test. The result of the ground tests showed that the ignition delay time was within the design range at the atmospheric pressure condition.

한국어판 플러턴 어드밴스드 균형 척도의 라쉬분석 (Application of Rasch Analysis to the Korean Version of the Fullerton Advanced Balance Scale)

  • Background: Rasch analysis estimates the probability that a respondent will endorse an item and select a particular rating for that item. It has the advantage of placing both the items and the person along a single ration scale and calibrates person ability and item difficulty onto an interval scale by logits. In addition, Rasch analysis is a useful tool for exploring the validity of questionnaires that have been developed using traditional methods. Therefore, it has been recommended as a method for developing and evaluating functional outcome measures. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the item fit, item difficulty, and rating scale of the Korean version of the Fullerton Advanced Balance Scale (KFAB) using Rasch analysis. Methods: Total 97 subjects (39 males and 58 females) with dwelling elderly adults were participated, but 3 people were excluded for misfit persons. Rasch analysis was then done by means of the Winsteps program to determine the item fit, item difficulty, rating scale, and reliability of the KFAB. Results: In this study, the 'standing with feet together and eyes closed', 'two-footed jump', 'walk with head turns', and 'stand on foam, eyes closed' items shown misfit statistics. The most difficult item was 'stand on one leg', whereas the easiest item was 'turn in full circle'. The rating scale was acceptable with all criteria. Both item and person separation indices and reliability showed acceptable values. This would indicated that each domain covers a useful range of item difficulty that is appropriate for measuring a person with a wide range of functional ability. Conclusion: The KFAB has been proven reliable, valid and an appropriate tool with which to evaluate the balance of the elderly people.

조화된 측모상의 연경조직의 형태학적 연구 - 한국인 성인여자에 대하여 - (A MORPHOLOGICAL STUDY ON THE SOFT AND HARD TISSUE FACIAL PROFILE OF HARMONIOUS KOREAN YOUNG ADULT FEMALES)

  • 본 연구목적은 여자성인교정을 위한 치료목표를 수립하기 위한 기준을 설정하는데 있다. 이용된 연구자료는 96명의 한국인 TV탈랜트와 영화배우 또는 패션모델중 교합과 안모를 평가하여 선정된 30명의 측모두부X선규격사진이었으며 선정된 표본의 평균연령은 20.16세였다. 연구방법은 측모경조직분석을 위해 Downs분석, Northwestern분석, Steiner분석, Wylie분석, Tweed분석, Dimensional linear분석법이 이용되었고 측모연조직분석을 위해 Holdaway연조직분석법이 적용되었다. 조사된 계측치들은 Apple II 48K system을 이용하여 각항목에 대한 평균치와 표준편차를 산출하였으며 백인, 한국인, 일본인의 기존계측치와 비교하였다. 그 연구결과는 다음과 같다. I. 경조직분석 (1) 본 연구와 백인과의 비교 본 연구에서는 백인에 비해 하악이 후퇴되었고 상${\cdot}$하악절치는 순측경사를 보였다. 또한 하악하연경사가 심했다. (2) 본 연구와 한국인정상성인여자(이 연구)의 계측치 비교 이의 연구계측치에 비해서 상악이 후퇴되어있고 상${\cdot}$하악절치는 설측경사를 보였다. 따라서 본 연구의 안모형태는 이의 한국인정상성인여자에 비해서 직선형안모를 보였다. (3) 본 연구와 일본정상인의 계측치 비교 일본정상인에 비해 하악이 돌출되었고 상${\cdot}$하절치는 설측경사를 보였다. 또한 안모의 상부고경과 하악크기는 일본정상인에 비해 크게 나타났다. II. 연조직분석 연조직분석의 11항목중 H-선에 대한 연조직 subnasal과 하순의 계측치가 Holdaway의 acceptable range를 벗어났다. 그 이유는 본연구에서 하악이 상대적으로 후퇴양상을 보였기 때문이라고 사료된다. 이외항목의 계측치들이 acceptable range내에 있다는 것은 연조직이 경조직의 이동에 따라 움직이고 있음을 의미한다. III. Downs분석, Northwestern분석, Steiner분석, Wylie분석, Tweed분석, Dimensional linear measurements분석을 위한 평균치, 표준편차, Polygon도표를 작성함으로써 한국성인여자교정의 진단과 치료목표를 정하는데 지침이 된다고 사료된다.

Poisson분포를 이용한 도시가스 화재 폭발사고의 발생 예측프로그램 및 사회적 위험기준에 관한 연구 (Study on Predictable Program of Fire.Explosion Accident Using Poisson Distribution Function & Societal Risk Criteria in City Gas)

  • 가스로 인한 화재 및 폭발사고의 예측 가능한 프로그램을 구체화하고, 적절한 사회적 위험기준을 제시하기 위하여 최근 11년간의 가스사고 데이터베이스를 분석하였다. 먼저 동일유형의 가스사고 발생가능 성을 판단할 수 있는 Poisson 분석 방법을 적용하기 위해 3개의 사고유형, 즉 누출, 폭발, 화재로 구분하여 총 16개 항목으로 나누어서 적용하였다. 그 결과, 시공 작업 부주의-폭발-배관의 항목의 사고발생반도가 가장 작았으며, 배관연결부이완부식-누출-배관의 경우는 가장 높은 빈도를 나타내었다. 따라서 이에 대한 적절한 가스사고 대응책이 마련되어야 할 것이다. 또한 치명적인 가스사고의 추세와 합리적인 위험정책에 대한 지침을 결정하기위해 D. O. Hagon 방정식과 회기직선식을 이용하여 F.N 곡선의 누적사망자의 최소 및 최대점에 대응시켜 허용가능영역을 설정하였다. 향후 가스사고에 대한 신뢰성 있는 분석을 위해서는 가스로 인한 화재 폭발사고에 대한 데이터베이스를 지속적으로 확충보완을 시켜야 되며, 이를 위한 표준 코드화 작업이 요구된다.

Hemiarthroplasty for Distal Humerus Fracture: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis for Functional Outcome

  • Background: Treatment of distal humerus fractures in osteoporotic elderly patients is often challenging. For non-reconstructible fractures with open reduction and internal fixation, total elbow arthroplasty (TEA) is an acceptable alternative. However, the relatively high complication rates and lifelong activity restrictions make TEA less ideal for elderly or low-demand patients. Efforts to identify or develop alternate procedures that benefit relatively young, high-demand patients have resulted in increased interest in hemiarthroplasty. This systematic review reports the clinical outcomes of hemiarthroplasty for distal humeral fractures. Methods: We systematically reviewed the databases of PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, and Cochrane Library. All English-language studies published before June 2017 were considered for possible inclusion. Search terms included 'distal humerus fracture' and 'hemiarthroplasty'. Studies reporting outcomes (and a minimum of 1 year clinical follow-up) in human subjects after hemiarthroplasty (Latitude system) for distal humeral fractures were assessed for inclusion. Patient demographics, clinical and radiographic outcomes, and complications were recorded, and homogenous outcome measures were analyzed. Results: Nine studies with a total of 115 patients met the inclusion criteria. Among the included studies, the weighted mean follow-up time was 35.4 months. Furthermore, the weighted mean of the postoperative range of motion ($107.6^{\circ}$ flexion-extension, $157.5^{\circ}$ for pronation-supination) and functional outcomes (Mayo elbow performance scores: 85.8, Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand score: 19.6) were within the acceptable range. Conclusions: Our study indicates that hemiarthroplasty is a viable option for comminuted distal humerus fracture. Satisfactory functional outcomes were observed in most patients.

소형 액체상단을 이용한 달 탐사선 임무 예비설계 (Preliminary Mission Design for a Lunar Explorer using Small Liquid Upper Stage)

  • 달 탐사에서 발사체 상단은 주로 저궤도에 투입된 탐사선을 38만 km의 거리에 있는 달까지 투입해주는 역할을 한다. 국외의 경우 상단(Upper Stage)은 달 탐사선을 지구-달 전이궤적에 투입 후 탐사선과 분리되고, 달 탐사선은 그 이후 자체 추진제를 이용하여 중간 경로 수정 기동 및 달 궤도 진입을 수행한다. 본 연구는 새롭게 제시되는 소형 액체상단을 기술하였다. 습질량이 총 2.9톤인 액체상단을 이용할 경우 달 탐사선을 지구-달 전이궤적 투입뿐만 아니라 달 궤도 진입까지 수행할 수 있다. 본 연구는 나로 우주센터에서 발사할 경우를 기준으로 허용 가능한 달 탐사선의 질량 범위를 도출하고, 탐사선의 허용 가능한 임무 범위도 다양하게 기술하고자 한다.

Shade reproduction and the ability of lithium disilicate ceramics to mask dark substrates

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the ability of lithium disilicate ceramics to reproduce the A2 shade and to mask A4 substrates. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four discs (8 mm in diameter, shade A2) of high translucency (groups 1-3) and low translucency (groups 4-6) of IPS e.max ceramic with different thicknesses (0.5, 0.75, and 1 mm) were fabricated as monolithic structures. In addition, discs of medium opacity (group 7-8) with different core/veneer combinations (0.3 mm/0.7 mm and 0.5 mm/0.5 mm) were fabricated as bilayer structures. Specimens were superimposed on an A4 substrate (complex). The color changes of the complex were measured using a spectrophotometer on a black background, and the ΔE values of the complex were compared with either the A4 substrate or the A2 shade tab. One-way analysis of variance, the Tukey honest significant difference test, and the Fisher test were used to analyze the data (p < 0.05). Results: Significant between-group differences were found for comparisons to both the A4 substrate and the A2 shade (p < 0.05). When compared with the A4 substrate, the ΔE values in all groups were in the non-acceptable range. When compared with the A2 shade, the ΔE values in all groups, except groups 2 and 3, were in the clinically acceptable range. Conclusions: All translucencies and thicknesses masked the underlying dark substrate. However, the low-translucency IPS e.max Press better reproduced the A2 shade.
