The subjects included 207 nursing college students in C City. Collected data were analyzed based on descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Self-leadership, emotional intelligence, and academic self-efficacy had significant effects on student adjustment to college life with an explanatory power of 26.2%. Moreover, relationships between student's general characteristics and adjustment to college life revealed differences in self-leadership according to grades and marks, in emotional intelligence according to the grades and hours on the internet, in academic self-efficacy according to hours on the internet, and in adjustment to college life according to grades. Adjustment to college life was highly positively correlated with self-leadership and emotional intelligence. In short, the findings demonstrate that self-leadership and emotional intelligence had important effects on adjustment to college life among nursing college students and reveal a need to reinforce the development of programs designed to improve self-leadership and emotional intelligence to facilitate adjustment to college life.

  • Recently, the need for research into environmental and intrapsychic variables to promote active career preparation behavior is increasing, due to the increasing need to cultivate career preparation behavior starting from middle school. On the basis of this need, the purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effects of hope in the relationship between maternal learning involvement and career preparation behavior among middle school students. We surveyed 320 middle school students in W city, Gangwon-do, regarding these variables. We evaluated the results according to Baron and Kenny's (1986) mediating effect test procedure. The findings showed a significant positive correlation between positive maternal learning involvement, such as respecting their children's learning methods and providing academic information and advice, and the students' career preparation behavior and hope. However, the findings didn't show any significant correlation between negative maternal learning involvement, such as pressure for academic performance, and the students' career preparation and hope. Furthermore, hope was found to partially mediate the relationship between maternal positive learning involvement, including academic information and advice, and career preparation behavior, while fully mediating the relationship between career preparation behavior and respecting the students' learning methods. However, it did not have any mediating effect on the relationship between pressure for academic performance and career preparation behavior. These results highlight the important role that instilling hope in students, through respecting their learning methods and advising and providing the necessary academic information, plays in achieving a higher level of career preparation behavior.

  • This study examined the factors influencing the relationship between anger and happiness of university nursing students so that they can improve their happiness and perform their studies with better internalized values. The general characteristics, academic efficacy, self-directedness, self-resilience, anger scale, and subjective happiness of 401 nursing students were measured. The differences between these groups were analyzed using t-tests and ANOVA tests. Correlations among academic efficacy, self-directedness, self-resilience and psychological states were calculated using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Multiple group analysis was conducted for assessing the interaction effects of academic efficacy, self-resilience and self-directedness. Subjective happiness and predictors of the study (self-directedness and ego-resilience) were positively correlated with statistical significance. The lower the self-directedness was, the higher the subjective happiness that is reduced by anger was. The higher the self-elasticity, the lower the degree of the subjective happiness that is reduced by anger. Since the moderating effect of self-directedness has been demonstrated in the relationship between anger and happiness, it is necessary to consider instituting proper pedagogy so that the educational method of enhancing self-directedness can be reflected in the field of nursing.

  • This study determined the relationship between grit and self-regulated learning in South Korean teens in order to gain an understanding of grit, which is still at the beginning stage of the research, and to obtain implications for Korean learners' self-directed learning. This study also clarified the process by which learners are involved in selecting effective goals for self-directed learning and to provide cognitive efficacy for learners to encourage efforts to achieve their goals. This study was conducted over the period of 4 weeks, and was mainly targeted at the middle-school and high-school boys and girls in Daejeon, Sejong and Cheonan by using 376 collected survey questionnaires. Confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, structural equation, and Sobel-tests were performed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 for the data analysis. The hypothesis test results of this study are as follows. First, the grit of teens had a positive influence on their academic self-efficacy. Second, the grit of teens had a positive influence on their self-directed learning. Third, academic self-efficacy of teens was found to have a positive effect on their self-directed learning. Fourth, academic self-efficacy of the teens had a mediating effect in the relationship between the teens' grit and self-directed learning.

  • This study was designed to classify the parents' and their children's perception of contact frequency and to examine differences between career development competency and academic outcomes according to perceptional differences. Data of elementary school to high school students from the School Career Education Survey (2018) were used, and latent profile analysis (LPA) was utilized to explore the parents' and their children's perception of contact frequency. The perception of parents' and their children's contact frequency was classified into six groups in elementary and middle school and seven groups in high school. Career development competency (self-understanding and social competence, job understanding, career exploration, and career design and reparation) and academic outcomes (autonomous learning, motivation, and self-directed learning) of classified groups related to contact frequency significantly differed. In general, groups who reported a higher perception of contact frequency by children than parents showed higher vocational identity and better academic outcomes. This result implies that perceived contact frequency between parents and children can differ by school level, and its differences can be related to career development competency and academic outcomes of adolescents.

  • This study aims at establishing a knowledge transfer system between academics and industries in the Chungnam Region. We analyze the difficulties encountered by the technology licensing offices of universities in the Chungnam Region through a practical analysis of the current situation regarding the transfer of the knowledge developed in the universities. The problems found included the poor circumstances of the TLO of the universities, very limited number of requests for knowledge transfer by the companies, distrust of university technologies and the absence of related networks and platforms. Especially, there is insufficient concern and recognition of the regional actors in the knowledge transfer system. Therefore, in order to improve the regional competitiveness, these problems should be fixed by enacting suitable government policies.
