The Study of the Recognition of Sexual Roles, the Demand of Sexual Education and the Consciousness of Sexual Education in the Korean teachers (한국 교사들의 성역할인지, 성교육요구 및 성교육 의식정도에 관한 조사연구)

  • The study was attempted and executed to reach the following conclusions. The period was May 1st through June 15th, 1998 and the subjects were 302 teachers consisting of School Nurses and general teachers in Pusan city. 1) The degrees of recognition of sexual roles by the subjects were compared as follows : The average point as to the recognition of sexual roles in the occupational functions by the school nurses was 2.41, higher than that of the general teachers. The average points as to the recognition of sexual roles in the attitudes by the school nurses was 2.28, higher than that of the general teachers. The average points as to the recognition of sexual roles in the abilitis was 2.26, higher than that of the general teachers. These ascertain that school nurses recognize the man has higher superities in the occupational functions, the attitudes and the abilities than the woman. 2) The degrees of demand of sexual education by the subjects were compared as follows : As to the degrees of demand of sexual education, the school nurses showed higher demand than the general teachers in the concepts such as 'the society and sexualities, physiology and actual education'. 3) The levels of the consciousness of sexual education by the subjects were compared as follows : the general teachers showed the more strict attitudes than the school nurses against the lascivious sex objects and wanted the punishment against the related students and the general teachers have myth. They claimed that their family have no relation with the sexual violence or pornography. As to the masturbation, the general teachers showed the more conservative attitudes. 4) The opinions by the subjects as to the well-qualified person in charge of sexual education in school were compared as follows : 77.3% of the school nurses, and 36.1% of the general teachers supported the school nurses.

A Design of Teaching Unit to Foster Secondary Pre-service Teachers' Mathematising Ability: Inquiry into n-volume of n-simplex (예비중등교사의 수학화 능력을 신장하기 위한 교수단원의 설계: n-단체(simplex)의 n-부피 탐구)

  • The objective of this paper is to design teaching units to foster secondary pre-service teachers' mathematising abilities. In these teaching units we focus on generalizing area of a 2-dimensional triangle and volume of a 3-dimensional tetrahedron to n-volume of n-simplex In this process of generalizing, principle of the permanence of equivalent forms and Cavalieri's principle are applied. To find n-volume of n-simplex, we define n-orthogonal triangular prism, and inquire into n-volume of it. And we find n-volume of n-simplex by using vectors and determinants. Through these teaching units, secondary pre-service teachers can understand and inquire into n-simplex which is generalized from a triangle and a tetrahedron, and n-volume of n-simplex which is generalized from area of a triangle and volume of a tetrahedron. They can also promote natural connection between school mathematics and academic mathematics.

지적 영재유아 판별의 절차와 과제

  • This study looked at the validity of assessments of academic giftedness in young children, details of assessment procedures and tasks related to them. It has shown that academic giftedness in young children can be reliably observed and reported by parents and teachers through similar characteristics to older gifted children. But for young preschool children since the potentiality rather than the current performance level is more important to detect and children's abilities are not fully differentiated, more systematic and comprehensive assessments are needed. Parents'and/or teachers' referrals, behavior checklists for the gifted, tests for creativity, short or group forms of standardized tests and finally individualized tests can be used as a comprehensive battery but these methods can be used stepwise for the sake of efficiency and economy. Especially the variability of performance in young children during the rapid developmental phase as well as their vulnerability by situational factors ask for the repeated assessments as regular bases. In this study different measures for gifted young children, specialists' qualification, and procedural guidance were reviewed and the necessity for various screening tools for different programs for the gifted was discussed. Finally it was emphasized that early assessment and following educational arrangement are needed for gifted young children for their optimal development.

The Effects on Improving Creativity with a PBL-based Robot Education Program - Case of a Science High School - (문제중심학습(PBL)에 기초한 로봇교육 프로그램이 창의력 향상에 미치는 효과 - 과학고등학교사례 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a systematic and effective PBL-based robot education program for improving creativity, and to analyze its effect on improving creativity of students in a science high school. The programs for 22 classes, designed to be used in a science high school, were developed and implemented. 8 teams got the abilities to independently build their own robots throughout all the process. The resultant improvement in creativity was analyzed in terms of gender and academic achievements. In the TTCT test, there was a significant improvement in creativity, especially the greatest in a subcategory 'originality.' While there was no significant difference in creativity by gender, there was a little difference in creativity by academic achievement. Especially the lowest group (Ha) showed the greatest improvement in creativity. This robot education program is expected to be used as an introductory one for the college of engineering.

Development and Operation of an Education Program for HIV/AIDS Counseling Nurses (HIV/AIDS 상담간호사를 위한 교육 프로그램의 개발과 적용)

  • Purpose: This aim of the present study was to assess a newly developed education program for HIV/AIDS counseling nurses. Methods: An education program was developed based on literature reviews, previous project analysis, focus group interview and expert meetings. The program comprised of 3 levels: basic, advanced, and intensive, which included 80, 70, and 60 hours of education, respectively. From May to December in 2012, 17 counseling nurses completed the program and we evaluated their learning achievements, attitudes towards AIDS, confidence in consultation, empathic ability, and training sessions. We also measured the nurses' satisfaction with the program before and after completion. Results: After completing a monthly education program lasting 12-15 hours, the nurses' mean learning achievement was 88.5%, 88.3% and 91.4% out of the basic, advanced, and intensive levels, respectively. Although the nurses' attitudes towards AIDS did not change, their confidence and empathic abilities increased following the basic and intensive components of the programs. Satisfaction with the educational sessions and program operation was 4.23 out of 5.0. Conclusion: This newly developed education program for HIV/AIDS counseling nurses promoted learning achievements as well as, confidence and empathic ability in consultation. HIV/AIDS counseling nurses should receive continuous education opportunities to enhance their potential.

Case Study of Individualized Teaching for an ADHD Student's Learning of Fraction (ADHD 학생의 분수학습을 위한 개별지도 사례연구)

  • Educational interest has been paid to ADHD students. Because of being easily distracted, lacking concentration, and committing hyperactive acts, they lag much behind other students in academic grades and their teachers have many difficulties in teaching them. This study aims to provide a case of enhancing an ADHD student's fraction-related achievement. To do this, we investigated his mathematical abilities in a preliminary study, devised an individualized teaching for the fractions unit, and applied them to him. And analyzing the results from observations and interviews of the student we can induce the following results: First, the ADHD student showed such types of errors in relation to fraction as lack of the concept of dividing into equal parts, lack of the concept of numerator and denominator, and errors in adding or subtracting fractions anc mixed fractions whose denominators were the same. And secondly, the fraction-related achievements of the ADHD student have improved thanks to the systematic teaching plan based on the accurate understanding of his academic gap relative to other students, his learning attitude, and his time difference. In addition, this study suggests several implications for ADHD students' learning of fractions.

Effects of Web-based Simulation and High-fidelity Simulation of Acute Heart Disease Patient Care (급성 심장질환자 간호에 대한 웹기반 시뮬레이션과 고충실도 시뮬레이션 교육 효과)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of web-based simulation and high-fidelity simulation on acute heart disease patient care. Methods: The project used a comparative study design with two simulation-based training modalities. A total of 144 nursing students participated in this study: 76 students in a web-based simulation, and 68 students in a high-fidelity simulation. Participants rated their self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, interest in learning, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Results: The scores for self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and interest in learning including interest in clinical training in the high-fidelity simulation group was higher than in the web-based simulation group. However, there were no significant differences in interest in learning, including interest in nursing knowledge, and in lab training, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Conclusion: A high-fidelity simulation of acute heart disease patient care might be beneficial to developing many more abilities for nursing students than would a web-based simulation. Also, since the web-based simulation improved interest in nursing knowledge, it could be a viable alternative to high-fidelity simulation. Further study is needed to verify the effects of varied levels of simulation-based care with more rigorous outcomes.

The Relationship between the Satisfaction with Clinical Practice and Clinical Competence by Types of Self-directed Learning Ability of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자기주도적 학습유형에 따른 임상실습만족도와 임상수행능력)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the satisfaction with clinical practice and clinical performance ability by types of self-directed learning ability of nursing students. Methods: This was a triangular study that was conducted to understand clinical performance ability. The subjects were 260 junior and senior students from a university in P city. The data were collected from April 22 to December 30, 2015. Data were collected by Q-card, Q-block an assessment tool, a structured self-reporting survey and a questionnaire. Results: We classified the self-directed learning abilities into four types: Type 1: a self-reflective person; Type 2: a person who prepares for the future; Type 3: a person with a sense of responsibility and obligation; and Type 4: an enthusiastic learner. We found that clinical performance ability was higher for Type 4 than Type 3. We found that clinical performance satisfaction with clinical practice was also higher for the Type 4 individual than a Type 3 person. Conclusion: To improve students' clinical performance ability, we need plans and support to lead students toward becoming an 'enthusiastic learner' type of person with self-directed learning ability. It is necessary to increase students' satisfaction with clinical practice.

The Effects of Personal Coping Resources and Perceived Organizational Supports on Job Stress among Hospital-Based Home Care Nurse Practitioners (HCNPs) (의료기관 가정전문간호사의 개인대처자원과 조직지원인식이 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The aims of this study were to describe the levels of personal coping resources, perceived organizational supports, and job stress, and to examine factors that affect job stress in hospital-based home care nurse practitioners. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted. Data were collected from 170 subjects with a structured questionnaire from April to July, 2016 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regressions. Results: The means for personal coping resources, perceived organizational supports, and job stress were $3.7{\pm}0.43$, $3.4{\pm}0.55$, and $3.4{\pm}0.55$ out of 5, respectively. Personal coping resources and perceived organizational supports were significantly correlated. However, both had no associations with job stress. In the multiple regression analysis, the experiences of home care nursing and hospital location were found to be predictors of job stress. Both personal coping resources and perceived organizational supports were not statistically significant predictors of job stress. Conclusions: It is necessary to carry out organization-based educational programs and support systems aimed at enhancing personal abilities to cope with stress at work. Additionally, further studies are needed to identify other hospital-related characteristics that can lead to job stress in home care nurse practitioners.

A Study on the Educational Gap and Supporting Policy in USA (미국의 교육격차와 지원정책 분석)

  • The aims of this study are to clarify the reality of the educational gap and supporting policy in USA, and to get the implications for improving the educational gap in Korea. The differences of parents' academic background and income make the differences of children's academic abilities. Especially, economic income difference rather than racial difference makes education gap. This tendency has gradually been fixed problem in USA society. The United States is making efforts to alleviate the educational gap based on the ESSA, and the educational support policy for rural areas has been greatly expanded. The ESSA has more practically changed its existing support through the Rural Education Achievement Program. In order to solve the educational gap based on the U.S. case, we discussed differentiated educational goals for each region, strengthened support for marginalized areas, disparities in educational expenses by region, and regular monitoring of rural areas and schools with low educational achievement.
