Analysis of Acetone Absorption Spectra Using Off-axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy for a Real-time Breath Test

  • We analyzed the absorption spectra of acetone in the 3.37 ㎛ mid-infrared range using the off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy technique to develop a real-time, in-line breath analysis device. The linear relationship between acetone concentration and absorption increase was confirmed as 0.32%/ppm, indicating that the developed device allows for a quantitative analysis of acetone concentration in exhaled breath. To further confirm the feasibility of using our device for breath analysis, we measured the acetone concentration of human breath samples at the sub-ppm level.

PRELIMINARY STUDY ON NIR SPECTRA OF RETROGRADED STARCH

  • Retrogradation of starch is one of important quality indexes for food based on starch such as rice. Therefore, in this research, possibility of near infrared spectroscopy to determine the degree of the retrogradation was examined. The degree of the retrogradation was indicated as the degree of geratinization analyzed by BAP(-amylase-pullulanase) method. 20 samples which have a wide range of the degree of the retrogradation were prepared and the NIR spectra of the samples were measured in reflectance mode with the NIR Systems 6500. In the correlation plots calculated from the 2nd derivative values of the MSC treated spectra and the degree of the geratinization, the major negative peaks of 1544 nm and 2258 nm, and the major positive peaks of 1460 nm, 1602 nm, 1766 nm and 2136 nm could be observed, indicating that NIR absorption at the positive peak wavelengths became strong while the absorption at the negative peak wavelengths became weak as the degree of the retrogradation increased. Because there is negative correlation between the degree of the retrogradation and the degree of the geratinization. As a result of MLR using the 2nd derivative values of the MSC treated spectra and the degree of the geratinization, good calibration equation which include 2258 nm as the first wavelength and 1764 nm as the second one could be obtained, indicating that NIR spectroscopy has a possibility to detect the retrogradation of starch. In order to find the assignment of the bands observed in the correlation plots, further study may be needed.

QUANTITATIVE FT-IR ANALYSIS FOR CHONDRITIC METEORITES: SEARCH FOR $C_{60}$ IN METEORITES

  • Infrared absorption spectra of 9 bulk samples and 3 acid residues of meteorites were obtained in the mid-infrared region ($4000~400cm^{-1}$). From the know composition of meteorites studied, the possible absorption modes were investigated. Most bands of bulk samples occur in the region below $1200cm^{-1}$ and they are due to metallic oxides and silicates. The spectra of each group can be distinguished by its own characteristic bands. Acid residues show very distinct features from their bulk samples, and absorp-tion bands due to organic compounds are not evident in their spectra. Quantiative analyses for two carbonaceous (Allende CV3 and Murchison CM2) and one ordinary (Carraweena L3.9) chondrites were performed for the presence of fullerene ($C_{60}$) in the meteorites. We calculated the concentration of $C_{60}$ in the acid residues by curve-fitting the spectra with Gaussian functions. The upper limit of $C_{60}$ concentration in these meteorites appears to be less than an order of a few hundred ppm.

In situ Er 도핑된 GaN와 Er이 이온 주입된 GaN의 PL과 PLE 비교에 대한 연구 (Comparison of In-situ Er-doped GaN with Er-implanted GaN Using Photoluminescence and Photoluminescence Excitation Spectroscope)

  • Photoluminescence (PL) and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy have been performed at 6 K on the 1540 nm $^4$I$\_$(13/2)/\longrightarrow$^4$I$\_$(15/2)/ emission of Er$\^$+3/ in in situ Er-doped GaN The PL and PLE spectra of in situ Er-doped GaN are compared with those of Er-implanted GaN in this study. The lineshapes of the broad PLE absorption bands and the broad PL bands in the spectra of the in situ Er-doped GaN are similar to those in Er-doped glass rather than in the Er-implanted GaN. The PL spectra of this in situ Er-doped GaN are independent of excitation wavelength and their features are significantly different from the site-selective PL spectra of the Er-implanted GaN. These PL and PLE studies reveal that a single type of Er$\^$3+/ sites is present in the in situ Er-doped GaN and these Er sites are different from those observed in the Er-implanted GaN. In addition, the comparison of the PL single strength illustrates that the excitation of Er$\^$3+/ sites through the energy absorption of defects in Er-implanted GaN.

Mg II LINE VARIATION OF 32 CYGNI

  • The Mg II lines been extracted from the IUE archival spectra of 32 Cygni to investigate the effect of the atmospheric eclipse. The UV light curve has been reduced from the continuum flux at the center wavelength of 2807.5 ${\AA}$ in the IUE spectra. The equivalent width of the Mg II k absoption line has been measured for each spectra. The results of the light variation and flux tracing of the absorption line at the vicinity of the primary eclipse confirmed the atmospheric eclipse. The atmospheric effect lasted until the phase 0.06 in the absorptin line tracing, while it lasted until the phase 0.02 in the UV light curve, respectively.

  • Optical spectra of 5-amino-2H-1, 2, 4-thiadiazoline-3-one (AT) and some 2-aroyl-5-aroylamino derivatives are reported. Absorption spectra of 2-aroyl-5-aroylamino derivatives show bathochromic shift due to AT group and other substituents of phenyi ring. Weak emission is observed for some derivatives.

Removing Telluric Absorbtion lines for IGRINS spectra

  • There are many telluric absorption lines which are laid on the science spectrum in ground based spectroscopic observations. In especial, the IR region spectra are considerably contaminated by telluric lines. Therefore, many scientists have a difficulty in removing the telluric effect. We thus tried removing telluric lines with IGRINS data by two methods. One is using the standard stellar spectrum as telluric lines. The other adopt calculated synthetic telluric spectrum. Here we present the results of test for precise removing telluric lines on IGRINS spectra.

광흡수에 의한 $LiNbO_{3}$ 단결정의 결함 구조 연구 (A study of defect structures in $LiNbO_{3}$ single crystals by optical absorptions)

  • 고주파로의 이용한 Czocharalski 법으로 congruent$(R_{m}=R_{c}=0.945)$, stoichiometric$(R_{m}=1,\;R_{c}=0.957)$, Li-rich$(R_{m}=1.202,\;R_{c}=0.989)$, congruent한 조성에 $K_{2}O$를 6 wt% 첨가한 $LiNbO_{3}$ 등의 순수한 단결정들과 congruent한 조성에 Mg와 Mn을 불순물로 첨가한 $LiNbO_{3}:Mn(0.1\;mole%),\;LiNbO_{3}:Mg(4.5,\;6.0,\;10.0\;mole%),\;LiNbO_{3}:(Mg(4.5,\;6.0,\;10.0\;mole%)+Mn(0.1\;mole%))$ 단결정들을 결정의 c.축 방향으로 성장시켰다. 실온데서 UV 스펙트럼과 IR 스펙트럼을 측정한 결과 UV 흡수단과 $OH^{-}$ 흡수 스펙트럼은 [Li]/[Nb] 비에 따라 변화한다. 또 첨가한 Mg, Mn 불순물들의 영향을 받는데 UV 흡수단의 위치와 $OH^{-}$ 흡수 스펙트럼의 위치, 모양이 Mg의 첨가량에 크게 의존하며 이는 Mg의 첨가량에 따라 이 이온의 결정내 위치가 달라지기 때문이다. 순수한 단별정들에 대한 $OH^{-}$ 흡수 스펙트럼을 Gaussian 선모습 함수를 써서 3, 5 개의 성분 스펙트럼으로 분해한다. 이 결과를 설명하기 위한 $LiNbO_{3}$ 단결정내의 배내, 배외 결함 구조에 대한 논의로 부터 Li 빈자리 모델이 결함 구조를 설명하는데 적합하다는 결론을 내렸고 이들 불순물 이온의 결정내의 위치도 정한다. 또한 결함 구조에 대한 본 연구의 결론을 이용하여 최근의 다른 연구자들의 실험 결과도 설명한다.

  • 혈중 헤모글로빈 농도를 비침습적으로 측정하기 위하여 가시광선부터 근적외선 영역인 $400{\sim}2500\;nm$ 영역에서 주요 혈중 성분들의 스펙트럼의 분석에 관하여 연구하였다. 근적외선 영역에서는 물이 주 흡수 성분이 되는데 특정성분의 농도 변화에 따라 물의 상대적인 흡수변화가 수반되므로(water displacement effect) 특정성분의 농도 변화에 따른 물의 농도변화를 고려해줌으로써 보정된 스펙트럼을 얻었고 이로부터 각 흡수 peak을 정확히 얻어내었고 농도변화에 따른 선형적인 증가를 보여주었다 비침습적으로 헤모글로빈 측정을 위한 조직의 산란효과와 타 성분의 영향을 고려하여 파장대역의 선정하였다.

  • Photosensitive resin of azide type is good for resolution and inner solvent, but it is really problem to development of practical use because fanctional groups of polymer has many hydrophilic radicals. By careful attention to this point, this study was investigated synthesis term, photo property and development property of composed photosensitive resin of azida type, it is to this effect. 1) H-NMR spectrum of compared DABCI showed amion redical by $\delta$6.0~6.1ppm to substitude for azide radical by amino radical by $\delta$8.9~9.45ppm, and FT-IR absorption spectra showed the absorption bends at 2100cm. 2)FT-IR absorption spectra of PHS1-DAB, PHS2-DAB, CMM-DAB and CHM-DAB showed azida radical pick to be lost at after irradiation by UV light. 3) According to exposuer change of PHS1-DAB, PHS2-DAB, CMM-DAB and CHM-DAB, absorption maximum value of UV spectrum change was 280nm. 4) to compared relative sensitivity of compared photosensitive resin, PHS2-DAB was the best and to compared insolubility rate of compared photosensitive resin, CMM-DAB was the lower. 5)Solubility if NaOH was the best by 1.0mol/$\ell$ and solubility of developing solution of ethanol to water was it in the ratio of 4 to 1.
