In this paper, we report the research highlight on the preparation and characterization of Indium-free $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ and Indium-reduced $CulnZnSe_2$ thin films in order to seek the viability of these absorber materials to be applied in thin film solar cells. The films of $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4\;and\;CulnZnSe_2$ were prepared using mixed binary chalcogenides powders. It was observed that Cu concentration was a function of substrate temperature as well as CuSe mole ratio in the target. Under an optimized condition, $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4\;and\;CulnZnSe_2$ thin films grew with strong [112]. [220/204] and [312/116] reflections. Both $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4\;and\;CulnZnSe_2$ films were found to exhibit a high absorption coefficient of $104^4cm^{-1}\;Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ film showed a band gap of 1.5eV which closes to the optimum band gap of an ideal solar absorber for a solar cell. On the other side, an increase of optical band gap from 1.0 to 1.25eV was found to be proportional with an increase of Zn concentration in the $CulnZnSe_2$ film. All films in this study revealed a p-type semiconductor characteristic.

The objective of this paper is to present a methodology for design of the FMS by using a new modeling tool which is called SE&TPN(Safe Extended & Timed Petri Net). A FMS, which consists of various machine groups, may produce machine parts in different physical dimensions and lot size. The approach involves the SE&TPN modeling by Petri-nets. The proposed algorithm can handle determining of firing count vector by incidence matrix and adjustment of conflict using the marking of SE&TPN. The SE&TPN is defined as nets that can have at most one token in one place and can have elements such as permissive arcs and inhibitor arcs in addition to elements. The SE&TPN with permissive arcs and inhibitor arcs are intuitively direct approach to increase the modeling power of the SE&TPN. Finally, this paper is to develop a modulation to optimize the system problems of FMS using SE&TPN which describes exactly features of Petri Nets.
In this paper, shielding effectiveness(SE) of the shielding material of electromagnetic(EM) waves was investigated with actual experiments. The materials used in this study were made up of sputtering, film and powder of conductive materials - Cr, Al, Ag and Cu etc. Also, the polyester film was used as a base material. The experiment was carried out by using a shielding evaluator(Shielding box) TR17302 with an ADVANTEST spectrum analyzer, model R3361C. It was found from the experimental results that silver, copper, aluminum and chromium were good candidates as a shielding material against the EM waves with increasing the SE as the composite was laminated. The characteristics of the SE against the EM waves depended on a mode of preparation of specimen. The effects of density of particles on the SE were studied when the sputtering. The SE strongly depended on the electric resistance by density of sputtering and painting particles. SE increased as the density of particles was increasing.
A graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) with matrix modification has been used to determine trace amounts of arsenic, lead and selenium in rice flour samples. A mixed solution of palladium and magnesium nitrate was used as a matrix modifier to convert the analyte elements into a phase of higher thermostability and to increase the volatility of concomitants in graphite furnace. Matrix modification effects by the mixed solution were investigated for several elements (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Se, Zn). It has been found that the matrix modifier substantially increase the pyrolysis and atomization temperature, and absorbance for As, Pb and Se. The concentration of As, Pb and Se in rice flour samples were determined by standard addition method with Zeeman background correction after microwave acid digestion. In this method the characteristic concentrations of As, Pb and Se are 26 ng/g, 18 ng/g, 24 ng/g on the basis of dry sample respectively.
The trace mineral, selenium (Se), is an essential nutrient of fundamental importance to human health. It is also very toxic and can cause Se poisoning (selenosis) in human and animals when its intake exceeds a suitable amount. Se functions within mammalian systems primarily in the form of solenoprotein. About 35 selenoproteins have been identified, though many have not yet been fully elucidated. Selenoproteins contain Se as selenocyseine (Sec) and perform variety of structural and enzymic roles; the enzymic roles are best-known as the antioxidants for hydrogen peroxides and lipid peroxides, and the catalysts for production of activity thyroid hormone. Glutathione peroxidases ($\textrm{GP}_X$) among the selenoproteins prevent the generation of free radicals and decrease the risk of oxidative damage to tissues, as does thioredoxin reductase (TR). TR also provides reducing power for several biochemical processes. Selenoproteins P and W are involved with oxidant defense in plasma and muscle, respectively, A selenoprotein is also required for sperm motility and may reduce the risk of miscarriage. Some epidemiological studies have revealed an inverse correlation between Se status and cardiovascular disease, and there is considerable evidence 1mm population com-parison data and animal studies that Se is anticarcinogenic. It is also suggested that Se should be needed for the proper functioning of the immune system, and appear to be a key nutrient in counteracting the development of virulence and inhibiting HIV progression to AIDS. As research continues, the role of selenium in the etiology of chronic diseases like appropriate medical nutrition therapy can be delivered and its effectiveness assessed. Se status in individuals is affected by diet and the availability of the Se. The Se content of plants is affected by the content and availability of the element in the soil in which they are grown, and so greatly varies from country to country, while the Se composition of meat reflects the feeding patterns of livestock. This paper provides an overview on Se as an essential trace mineral for human.

$CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin film was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. After the as-grown $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin films was annealed in Cu-, Se-, and In-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by the photoluminescence(PL) at 10 K. The native defects of $V_{Cu}$, $V_{Se}$, $Cu_{lnt}$, and $Se_{lnt}$ obtained by PL measurements were classified as a donors or acceptors type. And we concluded that the heat-treatment in the Cu-atmosphere converted $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin films to an optical n-type. Also, we confirmed that In in $CuInSe_2$/GaAs did not form the native defects because In in $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin films existed in the form of stable bonds.
Garlic and traditional fovarite foodstuffs of plant origin have been analyed for selenium and sulfur containing amino acid content selenium compound were assayed using a $^{77m}Se$ neutron activation analysis, cystine and methionine determination by paper and thin-layer chromatography. The results obtained indicate that the content of selenium and sulfur containing amino acid are highest in garlic. The results also show that the selenium is a more abundant in particular speies such as garlics produced in Tan Yang and Wei Sung. The effect of Korean garlic and favorite typically found in the Korean diet has also been studied. Some vegetables known to contain a relatively high level of sulfur and selenium (garlic and onion) do loss significent quantities of selenium as a result of cooking.

In this paper, we analyze the structure characteristics of $As_{40}Se_{50-x}S_{x}Ge_{10}$ system bulk and thin films. As the results of XRD patterns, it identified amorphous state. In order to find the glass transition temperature($T_g$), crystallization($T_c$) and melting point ($T_m$)of bulk sample, it ascertained that TS1gT is 238$^{\circ}C$ in $As_{40}Se_{15}S_{35}Ge_{10}$, and 231$^{\circ}C$ in $As_{40}Se_{25}S_{25}Ge_{10}$ & $As_{40}Se_{50}Ge_{10}$ following the thernal analysis by DSC, DTA, & TGA method. Also it was confirmed the phase seperation of continuous phase and dispertion phase by the optical texture of polarizing microscope and $T_g$ near 20$0^{\circ}C$ in thin film. Therefore, it was found that it occurs the phase seperation of Ge-rich dontinuous phase and Se-rich dispersion phase following the EDS analysis of thin film and the surface SEM photograph.
This study was designed to determine whether selenium (Se) nutrition affects pulmonary glutathione peroxidase and alveolarization in the neonatal rat. Twenty-four female Sprague Dawley rats were bred and fed a semipurified Se-deficient (0.04 ppm, Se-) or a Se-adequate (0.5 ppm, Se+) diet through pregnancy and lactation. Pulmonary DNA synthesis was slightly higher in Se+ pups than in Se- pups on d 6 and d 9 of lactation, but significant difference was not found. As pulmonary alveolarization progressed, mean air space size decreased and internal surface area and lung volume increased. No difference in pulmonary alveolarization was found between Se- and Se+ pups by age. Pulmonary Se concentration was higher in Se+ pups than in Se- pups at all age. Glutathione peroxidase activity in lung tissur reflected Se status and was lower in Se- pups than in Se+ pups. In conclusion, selenium has no significant effect on alveolarization of neonatal lungs. but it is necessary for adequate supply of pulmonary antioxidant, glutathione peroxidase.

Polycrystalline Cu(In,Ga)Se$_2$(CIGS) thin-films were grown by co-evaporation on a soda lime glass substrate. In this paper the effects of the Se evaporation temperature on the properties of CuIn0.75Ga0.25Se2 (CIGS) thin films. Structure, surface morphology and optical properties of CIGS thin films deposited at various Se evaporation temperatures have been investigated using a number of analysis techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that CIGS films exhibit a strong <112> preferred orientation. As expected, at higher Se evaporation temperatures the films displayed a lower degree of crystallinity. The <112> peak was also enhanced and other CIGS peaks appeared simultaneously. These results were supported by experimental work using scanning electron microscopy When the Se evaporation temperature was increased, the average grain size also decreased together with a reduction Cu content. The Se evaporation temperature also had a significant inf1uence on the transmission spectra. Increasing the Se evaporation temperature, the cell efficiency was improved dramatically to 11.75% with Voc = 556 mV, Jsc = 32.17 mA/cm2 and FF = 0.66. The Se evaporation temperature is an important parameter in thin film deposition regardless of the deposition technique being used to deposit thin films
