Crystallographic and magnetic characteristics of CoCr-based magnetic thin film for perpendicular magnetic recording media were influenced on preparing conditions. In these, there is that substrate temperature was parameter that increases perpendicular coercivity of CoCrTa magnetic layer using recording layer. While preparation of CoCr-based doublelayer, by optimizing substrate temperature, we expect to increase perpendicular anisotropy of CoCr magnetic layer and prepare ferromagnetic recording layer with a good quality by epitaxial growth. CoCrTa/Si doublelayer showed a good dispersion angle of c-axis orientation $\Delta\theta_{50}$ caused by inserting amorphous Si underlayer which prepared at underlayer substrate temperature 250C. Perpendicular coercivity was constant, in-plane coercivity was controlled a low value about 200Oe. This result implied that Si underlayer could restrain growth of initial layer of CoCrTa thin film, which showed bad magnetic properties effectively without participating magnetization patterns of magnetic layer. In case of CoCrTa/Si that prepared with ultra thin underlayer, crystalline orientation of CoCrTa was improved rather underlayer thickness 1nm, it was expected that amorphous Si layer played a important role in not only underlayer but also seed layer.

SnO thin films, 100 nm in thickness, were deposited on glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. A stack structure of $SnO_2/SnO$, where few nanometers of $SnO_2$ were determined on the SnO thin film by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In addition, XPS depth profile analysis of the pristine and heat treated thin films were introduced. The electrical behavior of the as-sputtered films during the annealing was recorded to investigate the working conditions for the SnO sensor. Subsequently, The NH3 sensing properties of the SnO sensor at operating temperature of $50-200^{\circ}C$ were examined, in which the p-type semiconducting sensing properties of the thin film were noted. The sensor shows good sensitivity and repeatability to $NH_3$ vapor. The sensor properties toward several gases like $H_2S$, $CH_4$ and $C_3H_8$ were also introduced. Finally, a sensing mechanism was proposed and discussed.
Nickel oxide is a nonstoichiometric transparent conductive oxide with p-type conductivity, a wide-band energy gap of 3.4~4.0 eV, and excellent chemical stability, making it a very important candidate as a material for bipolar devices. P-type conductivity in Transparent Conductive Oxides (TCO) is controlled by the oxygen vacancy concentration. During the TCO film deposition process, additional oxygen diffusing into the NiO structure causes the formation of Ni 3p ions and Ni vacancies. This eventually affects the hole concentration of the p-type oxide thin film. In this work, the surface morphology and the electrical characteristics were confirmed in accordance with the annealing atmosphere of the nickel oxide thin film.
Typical metal oxide thin films having optical and electrical properties are widely used as inorganic functional materials. Liquid phase deposition(LPD) method, a new low temperature process, has been developed for the several advantages of no vacuum system, low cost, high throughput, and low processing temperature(<$50^{\circ}C$). Silica powder was added to 40wt% hydrofluoro-silicic acid($H_2$SiF\ulcorner) to obtain an immersing solution of silica-saturated hydrofluorosilicic acid solution. Boric acid solution was continuously added in the range from 0 to 0.05M to prepare supersaturated hydrofluorosilicic acid solution. LPD $SiL_2$film was formed with the variation of added amount of $H_2$O. The SiO$_2$thin film could be prepared from hydrofluorosilicic acid by LPD method. The thickness of LPD $_SiO2$film was influenced by the boric acid concentration and added amount of $H_2$O. Silicon in thin film existed as SiF\ulcorner by Raman spectrum.
Nanometer-sized structures are being applied to many devices including micro/nano electronics, optoelectronics, quantum devices, MEMS/NEMS, biosensors, etc. Especially, the thin film with submicron thickness is a basic structure for fabricating these devices, but its mechanical behaviors are not well understood. The mechanical properties of the thin film are different from those of the bulk structure and are difficult to measure because of its handling inconvenience. Several techniques have been applied to mechanical characterization of the thin film, such as nanoindentation test, micro/nano tensile test, strip bending test, etc. In this study, we focus on the strip bending test because of its high accuracy and moderate specimen preparation efforts, and measure Au thin film, which is a very popular material in micro/nano electronic devices. Au film is deposited on Si substrate by evaporation process, of which thickness is 100nm. Using the strip bending test, we obtain elastic modulus, yield and ultimate tensile strength, and residual stress of Au thin film.
Surface passivation of crystalline silicon(c-Si) surface with a-Si:H thin films has been investigated by using quasi-steady-state photo conductance(QSSPC) measurements. Analyzing the influence of a-Si:H film thickness, process gas ratio, deposition temperature and post annealing temperature on the passivation properties of c-Si, we optimized the passivation conditions at the substrate temperature of $200-250^{\circ}C$. Best surface passivation has been obtained by post-deposition annealing of a-Si:H film layer. Post annealing around the deposition temperature was sufficient to improve the surface passivation for silicon substrates. We obtained effective carrier lifetimes above 5.5 ms on average.
The thermally stimulated current (TSC) of PVDF thin film prepared by physical vapor deposition method was investigated. PVDF shows three TSC peaks designated $P_1$, $P_2$ and $P_3$ in ascending order of temperature. The $P_1$ peak is associated with water in the PVDF specimen. $P_2$ and $P_3$ Peaks are specific peaks of $\alpha$ and $\beta$ type PVDF, respectively. The peak temperature was shifted to higher temperature, and peak intensity was decreased with increasing substrate temperature under thin film preparation.

We present the magnetisation reversal dynamics of epitaxial Fe thin films grown on GaAs(001) and InAs(001) studied as a function of field sweep rate in the range 0.01-160 kOe/s using magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE). For 55 and 250 ${\AA}$ Fe/GaAs(001), we find that the hysteresis loop area A follows the scaling relation A ∝ H$\^$${\alpha}$/ with ${\alpha}$=0.03∼0.05 at low sweep rates and 0.33-0.40 at high sweep rates. For the 150 ${\AA}$ Fe/InAs(001) film, ${\alpha}$ is found to be ∼0.02 at low sweep rates and ∼0.17 at high sweep rates. The differing values of ${\alpha}$ are attributed to a change of the magnetisation reversal process with increasing sweep rate. Domain wall motion dominates the magnetisation reversal at low sweep rates, but becomes less significant with increasing sweep rate. At high sweep rates, the variation of the dynamic coercivity H$\sub$c/ is attributed to domain nucleation dominating the reversal process. The results of magnetic relaxation studies for easy-axis reversal are consistent with the sweeping of one or more walls through the entire probed region (∼100 $\mu\textrm{m}$). Domain images obtained by scanning Kerr microscopy during the easy cubic axis reversal process reveal large area domains separated by zigzag walls.
This paper describes the heteroepitaxial growth of single-crystalline 3C-SiC (cubic silicon carbide) thin films on Si (100) wafers by atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition (APCVD) at 1350 oC for micro/nanoelectromechanical system (M/NEMS) applications, in which hexamethyldisilane (HMDS, Si2(CH3)6) was used as a safe organosilane single-source precursor. The HMDS flow rate was 0.5 sccm and the H2 carrier gas flow rate was 2.5 slm. The HMDS flow rate was important in obtaing a mirror-like crystalline surface. The growth rate of the 3C-SiC film in this work was 4.3 μm/h. A 3C-SiC epitaxial film grown on the Si (100) substrate was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman scattering, respectively. These results show that the main chemical components of the grown film were single-crystalline 3C-SiC layers. The 3C-SiC film had a very good crystal quality without twins, defects or dislocations, and a very low residual stress.
We studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment capability by the IB(Ion bean) alignment method on a NDLC(Nitrogen Diamond Like Carbon) as a-C:H thin film. and investigated electro-optical performances of the IBaligned IPS(In plane switching)cell with NDLC surface. A good LC alignment by IB exposure on a NDLC surface was achieved. Monodomain alignment of the IB aligned IPS cell can be observed. The goodelectro-optical (EO) characteristics of the IB aligned IPS cell was observed with oblique IBexposure on the NDLC as a-C:H thin film for 1 min.
