In this paper, we describe how to set up/down step-size in open loop power control for WiBro reverse link. Since open loop power control does not use feedback information, it is difficult to efficiently use wireless resource with accurate power control. We also provides a method of estimating levels of noise and interference. With numerical investigation, asymmetric up/down power-control step-size is shown to be promising to achieve high sector throughput as well as low error rate.

In this paper, we analyse feasibility of Zone-based Power Control (ZPC) scheme introduced for CDMA forward link(1) in the reverse link. To operate ZPC scheme in the CDMA systems the maximum power level that can be allocated to each traffic channel should be determined. Because all the service channels share the whole power resource in the forward lint a specific mechanism that determines Maximum power resource to each traffic channel is required to operate ZPC scheme in the forward link. However, ZPC scheme can be easily adopted to the reverse link, because of the fact that the whole power resource of service terminal is only confined to its traffic channel. In other words, we need not to determine the maximum power resource to be allocated in the reverse traffic channel. Simulation results show that ZPC scheme adopted to the reverse link yields a significant performance improvement compared with the conventional TPC(IS-95 TPC) scheme in terms of the power consumption and the traffic capacity of Portables, especially with the increasing number of high-rate data traffics. With the proposed scheme, not only be extended the service coverage of high-rate data traffic to the entire cell service coverage, but also the QoS of low-rate traffic can keep going through the service time, especially, in the situation that the incoming interference is much larger.

This paper analyzes the performance for an improved multistage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) technique with a reverse-link synchronous transmission technique (RLSTT) for DS-CDMA system in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel with an imperfect power control scheme. The performance degradation due to power control error (PCE), which is approximated by a log-normally distributed random variable, is estimated as a function of the standard deviation of the PCE. The uncoded bit error performance is evaluated in order to estimate the system capacity. Comparing with the conventional one-stage PIC system, we show achievable gain around $60\%$ by the RLSTT even in the presence of PCE. We conclude that the capacity can be further improved via RLSTT, which alleviates the detrimental effects of the PCE

In this paper, the reverse link performance evaluation with synchronous CDMA is analyzed in the PCS system, which is the schem based on proposed method of KMT-PCS to increase the capacitance of cellular CDMA system. We make the baseband system model of CDMA reverse link, and then analyze system performance and subsystem techniques considering effect of channel and power control that are improtant factor influencing system performance in the PCS system. Based on this result, the paper presents primary technique analyses required at synchronous reverse link proposed by the KMT, which compose of initial synchronization range in initial synchronization step and control signal period in the synchronization maintenance step.

In Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access(DS/CDMA) communication systems, it is important to contraol the power of reverse link channel evenly for overall channel capacity. To control the reverse link powers efficiently, it is necessary to estimate signal quality of each reverse link channel. In this paper, we discuss a method to estimate the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) for each channel by measuring the powers of pilot and noises. Computer simulations are done to show the effectiveness of the scheme.

This paper presents a new power control method for compensating the short term fading of the reverse link channel in the CDMA mobile telephone system. The fixed step closed loop power control which is now adopted in IS-95, is very simple in structure. However, the step size in the closed loop power control is too big for the channel with a small variation or too big for the channel with a small variation or too small for the channel with a large variation. The method presented in this paper has a simple structure and shows a new model employing the combination of the fixed step size method and variable step size method which results in compensatingthe disadvantages mentioned above. This paper also evaluates the performance inthe fundamental channel model.

Mobile stations can be classified by the transmission power level in CDMA system. Different performance parameters will be given to each class of mobile stations so that the appropriate quality ofservices can be provided. In this paper, it is assumed that there are two clsses of mobile stations. with the classification of mobile stations, analytical models are presented for the estimates of the reverse link capacity and the blocking probability. From the model for the reverse link capacity, the maximum number of each class of mobile stations to be served is derived. It is shown that $E_{b/}$I reduction of 1 dB allows the capacity to be increased by 25% and the data transmission rate and the power control accuracy have a significant effect on the reverse link capacity and the blocking probability. Simulation results are provided for validating the anlaytical estimates of the blocking probability.ocking probability.y.
A DS/CDMA system that makes all base stations require equal received power for all mobiles can lead to the non-uniform quality of service when mobiles are non-uniformly located over a service area. In order to resolve this problem the base-received power should be controlled according to base's load in order to make the quality of service uniform, and the pilot power also has to be adjusted to maintain the balance of cell coverage between reverse link and forward link. In this paper, we propose a generalized model including Pilot Power control, base-received power control on the reverse link, transmission power allocation on multiple forward link, and soft handoff on both links. We also apply our model to an initial system design as an example.

In this paper, a synchronous reverse link DS-CDMA system with cdma2000 standard is simulated to analyze performance of system and to find the optimum power ratio between pilot channel and traffic channel. In the cdma2000 the pilot channel is used to estimate fading channel, in contract to IS-95 and it compensates phase variation of received signal due to channel environment. When the length of channel estimation is 31pcg symbols, we can find the optimum power ratio of pilot channel to traffic channel. And also we find Eb/No satisfying target FER when the power control is applied and analyze performance of system with multiuser transmission.
This paper proposes a new call admission control method to enhance the reverse link capacity of a cell with heavy traffic in the CDMA PCS system under the uneven traffic load between cells. Since the capacity of a cell in the CDMA system is restricted by the total interference caused by terminals in the own cell and the adjacent cells, we can enhance the capacity of a cell by reducing the interference from other cells if possible. Our power control method allows that the signal powers received in base stations with heavy traffic be larger than those received in base stations with light traffic in order to make the interference due to other cells in the cells with heavy traffic relatively small. In the previous study, it was assumed that the signal power received by each base station in the CDMA PCS system is same when the call admission control algorithm is implemented. We could show that the reverse link capacity of a cell in the CDMA PCS system can be increased about 20% under our call admission control method.
