This study deals with the motion modeling by the unit motion of robots and the work measurement through classification of robot motions and standardization. The proposed approach is to scrutinize the Predetermined Time Standards(PTS) methods for measurement of manual tasks performed by people and the basic motions for accomplishing that tasks. And then, it constructs the unit motion models as subsets composed with the basic motions. It apply together with movements distance as a time variable, too. These results are used for the work measurements of robots by the unit motion models.

The current vibration reduction methods for positioning systems lead to either complicated motion or the need for additional hardware when the positioning systems carry out frequent short-distance movements. This paper proposes a simple yet efficient vibration reduction method for positioning systems subjected to frequent short-distance movements. The essence of the proposed method is the trapezoidal or triangular velocity profiles, whose acceleration/deceleration rates are designed to be related to the natural frequency of concern. The combined use of the proposed method and the input shaping method is also proposed for the possible application to multi-mode systems. Experiments are performed to validate the proposed method. The simulation and experiments prove that the proposed method is of great use for residual vibration reduction in positioning systems subjected to frequent short-distance movement.
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between velocity and factors which could affect the velocity of mandibular movement. For this study, 30 dental students without any masticatory signs and symptoms and 90 patients with temporomandibular disorders(TMD) were selected as the control group and the patients group, respectively. After determining Angle's classification and lateral guidance pattern of occlusion, clinical examination for TMD was perfomed. Velocity and distance of mandibular movements were recorded with BioEGN, reproducibility index of lateral excursions was evaluated by Pantronic(PRI) and BioEGN (BERI) activity in masticatory and cervical muscles were measured with BioEMG, and occlusal contact time and cross-arch unbalance(Total left-right statistics, TLR) on clenching were recorded with T-scan, respectively. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Velocity in the patients was faster than that in the controls in most mandibular movements, but on wide opening and closing movement, result was reverse. 2. Velocity on closing movements were faster than that on opening movements in the control group and a similar tendency was also shown in the patients group. 3. Patients with muscle disorders showed a tendency to have the highest value of velocity of all diagnostic subgroups, while patients with degenerative joint diseases showed a tendency to have the lowest value. 4. Patients with canine guidance showed a tendency to have the highest value of velocity in three subgroups by lateral guidance pattern, while patients with group function showed a tendency to have the lowest value. 5. BERI had a positive correlation with opening velocity on lateral excursion, while TLR had a negative correlation with opening velocity on swallowing. 6. EMG activity on clenching in masticatory muscles had negative correlation with opening velocity on border movements, and on swollowing, while the activity in rest correlated positively with opening velocity on border movements. 7. There were positive correlation between the velocity and the distance in long components of mandibular trajectory.

This paper proposes a forward vehicle movement estimation algorithm for the image-based forward collision warning. The road region in the acquired image is designated as a region of interest (ROI) and a distance look up table (LUT) is made in advance. The distance LUT shows horizontal and vertical real distances from a reference pixel as a test vehicle position to any pixel as a position of a vehicle on the ROI. The proposed algorithm detects vehicles in the ROI, assigns labels to them, and saves their distance information using the distance LUT. And then the proposed algorithm estimates the vehicle movements such as approach distance, side-approaching and front-approaching velocities using distance changes between frames. In forward vehicle movement estimation test using road driving videos, the proposed algorithm makes the valid estimation of average 98.7%, 95.9%, 94.3% in the vehicle movements, respectively.

In service robots, a number of human movements are analyzed using a variety of sensors. Vibration signals from walking movements of a human provide useful information about the distance and the movement direction of the human. In this paper, we measure the intensity of vibrations and detect both human walking pace and direction. In our experiments, vibration signals detected by microphone sensors provide good estimation of the distance and direction of a human movement. This can be applied to HRI (Human-Robot Interaction) technology.
The movements of skipjack schools during purse seine operations were observed by scanning sonar in the Southwest Pacific Ocean in April 2004. Swimming speed and directional changes were analyzed in relation to heading of the purse seine during shooting, speed of the purse seiner and distance to the net. Escaped schools turned clockwise (relative to the heading of the purse seiner during shooting) significantly more frequently than captured schools, who primarily turned counter-clockwise. The swimming speed of a fish school, whether it was caught or escaped, was somewhat related to the ship's speed, but swimming speed did not differ between captured and escaped schools. The behavior of skipjack schools during purse seining consists of very complex movements with changes in swimming speed and direction in relation to the nets or purse seiner. Therefore, these responses of skipjack schools to purse seining can be useful for modeling the capture process of purse seining in relation to fishing conditions.
Purpose: Developing a calculating program for the prism power which influenced the binocular vision according to shifts of binocular visual points in the distance vision spectacles. Methods: By using the Delphi 6.0 programming language, we developed a calculating program of the relative binocular prism power according to the movements of binocular visual points in the distance vision spectacles, which was calculated by dragging the mouse along the traces of binocular visual points on the computer window. Results: We developed a calculating program for the relative binocular prism power according to the movements of binocular visual points in the distance vision spectacles. The user of the program could confirm the trace of visual points by allowing them to display the trace of binocular visual points on the computer screen with a mouse button. An application on confirming the variation of prism power by graphs in the program also allowed the user to use the program more conveniently. Conclusions: By using the developed program, the user could easily calculate the relative binocular prism power according to shifts of binocular visual points in the distance vision spectacles. We also found that the developed program helped the user to receive a lot of assistance in analyzing the asthenopia.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the magnitude of mandibular rotational torque movements in subjects with TMJ sounds, and to analyse correlation between quantitative characteristics of TMJ sounds and mandibular rotational torque movement. Twenty dental college students with TMJ clicking and twenty students without any TMD signs and symptoms were examined by mean of SonoPak and Rotate program of BioPAK system(Bioresearch Inc. MilWaukee, wisconsin, USA) in this study. Mandibular rotational torque movements were recorded and analysed during maximum mouth opening, protrusion, and lateral excursion in frontal and horizontal planes. The obtained results were as follows: 1. On maximum mouth opening, mandibular rotational angle and distance of clicking group were significantly greater than those of control group in frontal plane. (P<0.05). 2. During maximum mouth opening closing, maximum mandibular rotational angle and distance of clicking group were significantly greater than those of control group in frontal plane. (P<0.01). 3. On protrusion, mandibular rotational angle and distance of clickin group were significantly greater than those of control group in horizontal plane. (P<0.05). 4. On lateral excursion, there was no significant difference in mandibular rotational angle and distance between clicking group and control group in frontal and horizontal planes. 5. There were significant correlations between peak amplitude of TMJ sounds and maximum mandibular rotational distance during maximum mouth opening (r=-.481) and mandibular rotational distance on maximum mouth opening (r=-.455) in horizontal plane. 6. There were significant correlations between Above 300/(0-300)Hz ratio of TMJ sounds and mandibular rotational angle (r=-.499) and distance (r=-.457) on maximum mouth opening in frontal plane.

In this paper, we investigate the patient fall prevention system to prevent the patient from falling out of the bed unintentionally on the bed of the bed. Patients stay in bed for many hours of hospitalization. During the hospitalization period, patients have low controllability of the body, as compared with normal persons, and fall due to intentional movements, resulting in a fall of the patient, can be a fatal threat to the patient. Therefore, an efficient fall prevention system is required. In this paper, the distance map to the patient is generated by the distance measuring sensor on the bed of the patient, and the risk is determined by estimating the position of the patient based on the distance map. As a result, when the distance map of the dangerous area is 150 mm or more, it is determined to be dangerous, and good results are obtained.
The number of single-person households is increasing worldwide, and among them, the proportion of elderly single-person households is increasing. In the case of elderly single-person households, a significant portion of their leisure time is devoted to watching TV. However, if they fall asleep while watching TV without turning it off, it may be difficult to sleep well due to lights and sounds of TV, which can cause health problems such as depression and reduced immunity. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system that automatically turns off the TV when a person watching TV falls asleep. Images are collected using the camera installed in front of the TV. Since the posture of a person watching TV varies from a sitting posture to a lying posture, the system is designed to determine whether or not to fall asleep regardless of the posture. In addition, since it becomes difficult to judge eye movements as a person moves away from the TV, a method for extending the judgmentable distance is proposed. The system model was implemented and tested using a Raspberry Pi, a monitor, an infrared sensor, and a camera. Eye movements were judged regardless of sitting or lying position, and the distance between a user and a TV was extended by about 200 cm.
