  • Field surveys for the digital map being constructed is being conducted using various work guide books based on the digital mapping internal rule. However, a modification of a rule used for paper map construction is being used for the digital mapping rule, which is causing many problems with the quality of the digital map. Therefore, to construct a high-quality digital map, general standards related to conducting field surveys need to be reviewed, and it's extremely important to construct an accurate digital map based on this. Accordingly, in this study, problems related to conducting field surveys for the construction of the digital map are analyzed in order to establish more suitable field survey standards for constructing an accurate digital map. To this end, work regulations related to construction of a digital map were analyzed, and attribute and field survey data were compared to those of a previously-constructed digital map for analysis. By reflecting opinions of field surveyors and related experts to the results of the analysis, more suitable field survey standards for constructing the digital map were presented.

  • $\textbullet$ The topological map using a thinning needs much simpler computation than that using a Voronoi. $\textbullet$ A thinning can provide much information on the environment (additional nodes). $\textbullet$ Each node created in a local map is considered as temporary and redundant nodes are discarded. $\textbullet$ A global topological map can be built fast and correctly through a thinning algorithm. $\textbullet$ Path planning can be easily achieved with a topological map.

  • For the electronic map service by wireless, the existing map database cannot be used directly. This is because, the data volume of a map is too big to transfer by wireless and although the map is transferred successfully, the devices to display the map usually don’t have enough resources as the ones for desktop computers. It is also not acceptable to construct map database for the exclusive use of wireless service because of the vast cost. We propose new technique to generate a map for wireless service dynamically, from the existing map database. This technique includes the generalization method to reduce the map data volume and filtering method to guarantee that the data volume don’t exceed the limit of bandwidth. The generalization is performed in 3 steps :ㅁ step of merging the layers, a step of reducing the size of spatial objects, and a step of processing user interface. The filtering is performed by 2 module, counter and selector module. The counter module checks whether the data blume of generated map by generalization, exceeds the bandwidth limit. The selector module eliminates the excess objects and selects the rest, on the basis of distance.

  • This study attempts to establish sewerage underground facility map using aerial photograph with high readability and accessibility as an alternative of digital map and compilation cadastral map. A study on utility and consistency of established sewerage underground facility map in line with the current continuous cadastral map of underground facility was carried out. If underground facility map is established and utilized by converging digital image and compilation cadastral map, various spatial information analysis and systematic and integrated information utilization is available. The drawing of underground facility map using aerial photograph in this highly information-oriented society shall play a role in basic map for integrated control as an alternative of problems in the current drawing and designs created and managed by controlling institutions. In addition, the information of sewerage underground facility map using aerial photograph shall be used for establishing systematized urban planning and control.

  • This paper presents an efficient method of extracting line segments from the occupancy grids in a grid map. The grid map is composed of 2-D grids that have both the occupancy and orientation probabilities using sonar sensors. We evaluate the orientation information of every grid when the occupancy probability of the grid is updated from sonar range data. To find the shape of an object in the map from orientation information, the orientations are clustered into several groups according to their values. The line segments are, then, extracted from the clusters based on Hough transform. Finally, a feature-based map is built with these line segments. The proposed method is illustrated with the results produced by sets of experiments in an indoor environment.

  • This paper presents a new saliency map which is constructed by providing dynamic weights on individual features in an input image to search ROI(Region Of Interest) or FOA(Focus Of Attention). To construct a saliency map on there is no a priori information, three feature-maps are constructed first which emphasize orientation, color, and intensity of individual pixels, respectively. From feature-maps, conspicuity maps are generated by using the It's algorithm and their information quantities are measured in terms of entropy. Final saliency map is constructed by summing the conspicuity maps weighted with their individual entropies. The prominency of the proposed algorithm has been proved by showing that the ROIs detected by the proposed algorithm in ten different images are similar with those selected by one-hundred person's naked eyes.

  • In this paper, a fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system with high reliability is proposed. For fault-tolerance, the LLC sublayer, MAC sublayer, and physical layer of the Mini-MAP system are dualized. The detection of faults, the replacement of the failed network, and the management of the network are three major functions required for the dualization, and they are performed by ESM(Error Supervisory Machine), EMM(Error Management Machine), and NMM(Network Management Machine) of the proposed fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system, respectively. The ring maintenance function of the MAC sublayer is used for the detection of the faults. In the proposed fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system, the data are received from both of the dualized networks and transmitted to the selected one of the two. We analyze the reliability and the MTTF(Mean Time To Failure) of the proposed fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system and show that it has better performance compared to a general Mini-MAP system.

  • One of the most important is to insure that a new circuit design is qualified far release before it is scheduled for manufacturing, test, assembly and delivery. Due to various causes, there happens to be a low yield in the wafer process. Wafer test is a critical process in analyzing the chip characteristics in the EDS(electric die sorting) using analytic tools -wafer map, wafer summary and datalog. In this paper, we propose new analytic map algorithms for DDI chip test data. Using the proposed analytic map algorithms, we expect to improve the yield, quality and analysis time.

  • The helicoidal surfaces with pointwise 1-type or harmonic gauss map in Euclidean 3-space are studied. The notion of pointwise 1-type Gauss map is a generalization of usual sense of 1-type Gauss map. In particular, we prove that an ordinary helicoid is the only genuine helicoidal surface of polynomial kind with pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the first kind and a right cone is the only rational helicoidal surface with pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the second kind. Also, we give a characterization of rational helicoidal surface with harmonic or pointwise 1-type Gauss map.
